Hellhound 1055 wouldn't be too hard to make, the parts are already for sale other than exhaust. The seat is just a fiberglass single seat with built in fender, you can get em for between 180 and 300 in the US.
if they build it and sell it as close as possible to this shown bike, they will be on back order and I will put my money on it. this is actually really exciting to see. imagine flying on this!
over 10000 rpm and still not at full throttle... I have a feeling they are going to have an issue getting off the line quickly but great top speed, which means useless on shorter tracks.. That kind of rpm is hard to hold for a 25 lap main though, I foresee many broken engine parts for months to come.
RS750 back in the 80's was turning 10 grand + on the Miles and never broke parts and it was air cooled. Don't ever remember Shobert, Graham, Poovey blowing engines during the race season. This engine has had extensive high RPM running time and it's staying together. They way the counter balance is on the Crankshaft, it has torque off a corner like the XR's when they were using the Twingle setups. Did you see Kopp @ Santa Rosa coming off the line; he shot out a good 3 bike lengths over everyone. This Engine will give you the best of both worlds even on the 1/2 miles.
I have news for you. Water cooled , double overhead cam engines ran in Peugeot racing cars at Indianapolis in 1914. So this is NOT NEW Technology. Harley-Davidson ran Riccaro 4 valve heads during the 1920's.
So the Puegot ran in 1914... did it finish the race? Was it reliable? Sure there were OHC and other fancy engines before 1920 but the metallurgy and other technology was so primitive that they destroyed themselves while inferior methods like flat-heads dominated because they were reliable. A water cooled DOHC that can lead the race for 5 laps reliably is a piece of shit if it is a 10 lap race that can be run reliably with a less sophisticated engine.
If the FTR is reasonably priced and has the field maintainence number of Race Hours that INDIAN Engineers claim; then your going to see a flood of privateer XR750's up for Sale. This 45yr old designed engine which at this stage in Grand National Racing needs to be rebuilt almost every race (bottomend) is beyond the pocket book of most privateer racers. HD could have had this type of tech back in the 90's when they campaigned the VR1000 in AMA RRing. Even though they pulled out of racing being slightly down on topend speed of the Honda and Ducati; this engine made 150+hp. HD could have engineered this to a 750cc engine quite easily. It was already a liquid cooled DOHC V-twin with EFI. HD didn't want to spend any money for something new, always relying on the dated and expensive Alloy XR to carry on in the DT Wars. In their Race History, no other Race Model has ever gone as many years as this model ( first appearing in 1972) The previous longest produced race bike from HD was the antiquated Flathead/SV KR which was produced from 1952-68 and last raced in the 69 season.
5O,000 Dollars a Bike w/ no spares is completely out of reach for most Privateers. No Justification for that amount of Money. The Alloy XR750 was a purpose built Racer yet almost all HD Dealers sold them to privateers back in 72 for their cost of $2395.00 which is under 15 grand in 2017 Dollars and is what the FTR should be...
Everyone hate Harley Davidson now, even though there would not be a sport for Indian or other manufacture to race in, if it wasn't for HD keeping the sport alive when the Japanese and Euro bikes left.
CrisKG125 I've hated Harley for decades. The reason those brands left is pretty simple. They win, Harley whines to the AMA and the non Harley gets either outright banned, a restrictor plate added or weight added. All 3 have happened. It makes no sense for a company to invest money then have the rules changed yet again to favor the Harley. This isn't rocket science.
Would love to see Indian build a street version of this or a scrambler.
it's called the Scout... or are you talking a Street Tracker style bike, a street legal flat tracker?
OtisENGINEuity a street legal flat tracker. though I do love the scout

Hell yes.
I just want Indian/Victory/Polaris to put out a production Street Tracker for us. Or a production 156.
A damn fine looking bike there with a solid sounding power plant
Looks awesome! How has Indian/Victory not built a street bike version yet?
Apparently the FTR750 is a proven bike since this video was made since Indian has been sweeping podiums with it at the mile races.

Very cool bike, and man flat-track looks like fun.
Why can't they evolve that design into an adventure bike to take on BMW and KTM?

@@stevematz7354 Looking back in hindsight you were dead on right. This engine is a monster.

Can't wait for Dallas
Not only did Indian fire the first shot, six years later you can’t find a Harley to shoot at! LMAO!
wheres the front break ???
Sahil Satam Front brakes are illegal in flat track.

@@stevematz7354 Can a person buy a Harley Davidson XR750 today for $15,000 and is it possible to make them street legal?
Harley can’t hang.

All the Harley guys do is cry when they lose :P
A battle for 6th place...
