I just pulled my badge off. I parked the truck in the sun for about 5 minutes and then started to peel it with a squeegee similar to the one in the video. Once I got it off there was a bunch of glue left behind - like in the video. I used the heat of the sun and folded it back into itself just using my fingers. It all ended up in a ball and that was it - perfect! No scratched paint. Thanks for the video!!!
Your vid was simple and straight forward, my rear emblem was pretty much the same and came of pretty easily. Getting the excess glue off was easier to just heat and roll with my fingers, gentle heat let me roll it without burning my fingers. Used just 91% alcohol to clean up the residue and replaced it WITHOUT sanding Thanks for your hints
Excellent video - well filmed, with clear explanation of each step. Links to each product that you purchased will make this any next project. Thank you!
All u need is heavy monofilament fishing line. Snake it behind the decal which is held on with 3m VHB tape. Then “saw” the line back and forth behind the decal. Then remove any remaining adhesive with wd40
You can also use lighter fluid to clean the residue. Also, if you can touch the inside of the skin where the emblem is, even with a stick, it would be recommended to push against it so that the metal grabs on better. Unsure how this tailgate is vs say a hatch back door.
Hey thanks a lot for doing this video. I'm repainting my tailgate to get rid of some rust spots before they get too corrosive , and I was wondering what to do about the symbol. Now I see its not too bad to remove that I will order that. Thanks again appreciate it.
Good job buddy. You going to have that truck looking new again if you keep replacing everything. LOL A tip I have done in the past on some emblems and other things attached with 2 sided tape is dental floss to remove them kind of use it like a saw between the mounting surface and the tape it does a pretty good job. Have a great week!!!
Have the emblem that was ready to fall out, came off very easy. What is the glue/sticky stuff to put it back. My emblem is basically new, just need the backer. Saw 3m VHB tape?
I have a faded plate just like yours and a picked up a replacement on marketplace for cheap ...downside it doesn't have the sticky plate ... can I use the old logo inner plastic adhere plate with the new logo cover i have and glue it ?? any advice would be appreciated
Yeah, I thought the same thing. That old adhesive was stuck to the tailgate way better than to the emblem. So if sanding increases adhesion to the tailgate, your weak point is still on the emblem side. I pulled mu emblem off with no heat either. Just pulled right off.
So can I do this also to the side Emblems? Yours is the first video where you did not take nothing apart, like some videos took the tailgate apart to take emblem off.
Cool I never knew it had screws, mine is a small old ranger with a small logo on the right side I dont think it has screws. At least ford uses good glue my logo is pretty worn out it's a 1997 but I'm gona wait till it completely fades or cracks or falls off lol btw your supposed to push pressure on any logo for at least 1 min and do not let it get wet for 48 hours the same for stickers.
@@froglobster they often have instructions and many websites you order stickers or Plastic hood ornaments from also say it on the website and lots of glues do to and paint.
Just asking, why cover the license plate? No one besides a cop has access to the ANY of the information on a license plate. I have an '06 F150 that I'm looking for the gen of F150 that uses the 9" oval that is three pieces so I can take it apart and paint it. I'm murdering the truck except for some accent pieces
I used goo-gone, but still had to scrape a lot. Overall, the glue removal took about 10 minutes. The key to the removal of the emblem was most definitely the heat gun. I first tried without it, and then watched this video. The heat gun was like $25 and worked like magic!

I've watched hundreds of car videos and your the first I've ever seen to cover plates and not in post. That's very smart and a huge time saver.
Sanding it will bond the adhesive really well. But it will make it harder to remove later on when you want to do it again.
It really isn't necessary.

Thank you, just bought a replacement emblem and had no idea how to put it on. Really helpful.

Bman H - You are right on the money with the WD40! Works good and most people have it. Thanks!
If it were only that easy using fishing line😑
The tabs would cause a issue
I hate Fords
Thanks for the video. Will be removing my emblems soon for obvious reasons. Can't afford to sell so this is next best thing.
Definitely going to replace my old emblems now !! Super helpful, thanks !!
Use some high tensile fishing line works too!!
good one. I was able to do without heat gun. Thanks for the help! Appreciated!

IPA and a rag works really well with getting the glue off as well if you want a cheaper option
Good video, plan on changing my emblems to black on my Expedition. Thanks
Much easier than I thought. Thanks! 3:35 p.m. 6/19

When emblem off- spray a can of krown or fluid film into that tailgate if you live in the rust belt
Hey thanks. About how far away did you hold your heat gun when you were melting the adhesive to remove the emblem.

My guy you sound like Paul Walker, damn missed already, and thanks for the tutorial man
Hello, Thank You for the Video - Am very pleased with My Results...Love My Ford RANGER
Don’t you worry - That Ford Glue is tuff stuff.
Have the emblem that was ready to fall out, came off very easy. What is the glue/sticky stuff to put it back. My emblem is basically new, just need the backer. Saw 3m VHB tape?
Awesome, looking to do this on my Ford Ranger so this helped a lot? I'm also wanting to upgrade my tires and rims. What size do you have on yours?
Good job, looks great. Need to do the same to my F250
Thank you for the lesson, great job!
Fantastic job/ video... end result is fabulous

Hi, My original one came off. What do I use (glue etc) to adhere it back on again.
The sanding isn’t necessary at all. But looks good

@@Redneck_Ed yessir mine didn’t need heat either
Great video. Denatured Alcohol is my go to goo and glue cleaner.
What is denatured? So you get it from parts store or hardware?
So can I do this also to the side Emblems? Yours is the first video where you did not take nothing apart, like some videos took the tailgate apart to take emblem off.
If you don’t mind telling, where can I find those fender flares?
Ford finally did something right with the new 2021 trucks, it’s on the front grill, they circled the problem
Is it the same way for a front emblem?
How do you put the tin emblem back in to the casing. But just fell out
this vidoe was very helpfull. Tks.
Are the new badges plastic or aluminum?
Brilliant vidio, many thanks ive just changed mine 😁
Where to get emblems
great job friend!
NICE JOB....FORD TOUGH!!

@@JustinKruger336 k thanks
👍 thank for the video
FYI: Link to emblem on amazon doesn't work
Nice video 📹 👍
Thanks for this I have the same truck!! even same color.
It's good to see how to remove and replace these emblems,..Thanks!
wonder if a hairdryer would work as good as the heat gun.
I used a hair dryer on my front emblem. Would not sand the paint. Use a good paint compound then alcohol it.
Fishing line works well to get the emblem off
what kind of shell do you have on your ranger?
EXCELLENT THANK YOU GOD BLESS YOU 🙌 🙏
Emblems link not available, anyone know of sure replacement part?
Well done, thanks, i will try it tomorrow
Gonna try it today
There was no need sanding area!
The link is not working 😩

Do u think since it's so cold out that it may have been a good idea to heat the surface and the emblem ???
Looks good!
I was looking at these emblems for sale on amazon and one of them uses screenshots from this video in their instructions lol
I went on to your website. Couldn't find this part.... help?
Thanks for the heads up! Here's a new link: amzn.to/3lehPtF
@@motoforlyfe that link dead too now. Got a part #? Thanks for the video
I refuse to replace mine. I like my Ford truck but they should provide replacement emblems for free.
Secondo te su la Kuga è ugualmente attaccato ..?!
Awesome
What about I don't have a heat gun?
Fishing line works well too
I did with hair dryer
thumbs up shared looking good great job
Thanks Drew!
but it still says Ford..
Wouldn't Goo-gone be safer instead of lacquer thinner? That stuff is great when you need it.
This was some tough stuff, not sure if goo-gone would have cut it!

minus the sanding step and your good bud
Just use fishing wire and floss it up and down until it comes off, and rubbing alcohol to clean. You are making this way harder than it needs to be.
The emblem came off but the rest of it didn’t. 😭😭
Hey bud you said you were going to put the email address for the Ford symbols I don't see it any chance you can send it to me or put it on here.
Here you go! amzn.to/2LFHkEm
Scotchbrite pad would be better I think.
Job well done brother, I was just gonna try to rip her off lmfao.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
Jesus Christ is Lord ✝️ Maranatha
Tape it off!
Why is emblem so cheap and fake?
$15 for 2 Amazon, you bought fake rubbish that won’t last. Ford uk sell for £29 each. You’ll be changing again soon. 😂
Do you know if it is the same process for the emblem with the back up cam on it?
