Jimmy was one of my favorite hosts of the Oscars, if not the favorite. I think they just didn't want to pay and of course there will always be those who are critical of the host. That's more of a political thing in my opinion.

Your wish came true. JIMMY'S hosting the 23' Oscars. He previously hosted two times and absolutely killed both of them. Especially his first. He was very hilarious and creative. He really deserves the top spot alongside Billy Crystal and Steve Martin.

That is a good question, there were some controversies regarding the host that was planned for the first hostless Oscars and there were some rumours regarding a replacement (Whoopi Goldberg being one of those rumours), however the academy decided to go hostless, although it's not known why exactly.
Kevin hart was supposed to host and then ppl brought up old offensive tweets of his and the Oscar's asked him to publicly apologize and he said no, it was years ago and hes addressed it already so hes not doing it again. So he said screw it, I dont want to host then. And it was pretty late so finding a replacement was rumored but it would have to be quick so they decided to just do it hostless

Specifically the Oscars, No big stars want to Host it anymore because its just not worth the negative Criticism/PR they may face or may (surface) from a tweet, a joke, an opinion they posted or said from years ago.
