USB Port on the Aventon Aventure e-bike

Did you know there is a USB port on your Aventon Aventure e-bike? It's on the bottom of the LCD hidden beneath the Aventon logo.
It's not mentioned in the owner's manual so I am guessing that many Aventure owners may not even realize it is there. I feel certain it would draw on the battery if used as a power source for phones, audio or video gear, etc.
I've read that some owners have used it to charge their phones. One owner in the Aventon forum said he powers his GoPro through this USB port. And I've read that Aventon says it is just there for diagnostic purposes.
I don't know which of those statements is right or wrong, because I have never had the occasion or need to use it.
But it's good to know it is there if I ever get into a pinch and need it for some reason. Just another of the many reasons that I absolutely love my Aventure.
