I'm new into mountain biking, have a Trek 7. Which I love for a starter bike. I wear my old brooks running shoe.

About 10 to 12 years ago, I had a crash wearing low shoes. I folded my foot over to my leg. My ankle swelled out 6 inches, broke foot in two places, pulled and sprained everything. Had to limp down mountain on it. I wear 5 ten impact high for ankle protection. Just don't have to confidence to wear something without it. A lot of people like ride concepts, will have to see if they have supportive high versions.
