I’ve been watching Dave teach about the wilderness ever since I was 10 when he was on dual survival 13 years ago. I’m 23 years old now and still learning. Thanks Dave. You don’t know how much you mean to us all 🤘🏼
I love these small game hunting/cooking/camping videos, Dave. Years ago my father, friends, and I would do a Sept "squirrel" camp every year. This brings back those fond memories. Thanks.
I'd love a series on what local wild life we can harvest without a permit, and especially how to prep them! A straight to simple what's what would help my skills a ton. I've never thought about crow, but I wouldn't look away from it if I was ever hungry now!
I never pass on crows, my labs like to retrieve them just as much as ducks or pheasants. I either brine the crow meat or marinade them in pineapple juice. They're pretty good either way.
Nice video Dave. When I was much younger my friends and I would hike up over the mountain behind my house and just for fun see how long we could live off the land. We went 18 days before we just got bored. We probably could have stayed there until it got to cold. Plenty of game and fish. Wow that was 40+ years ago.
Eating Crow and Sawing Logs... Old School. You are the King Sir. Thank You and All of your Trainers for your never ending Service. Good Lessons for every one. Start at the base Living, and Fight eating worms till the Hunt is Victorious!
Okay, what did you say to Iris to have to "eat crow" in front of the whole world? 😆I love this. Camp cooking is one the great joys in life. I'm looking forward your upcoming videos from the came. Like you said, we get out in the woods to have fun. As time allows, I'd love to more of these types of videos from you, Dave. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video Dave thanks much for sharing. Looking forward to the camp layout video! Hey, if want them crows breast to really knock your socks off, simmer 'em in beef broth over a low low flame til you can easily slide a fork in them, then salt and pepper, flour and pan fry real quick. True gourmet woods eatin' right there!
Man when I got this notification all I could see was it was a Dave Canterbury video that said eating crow and I immediately thought who is being proven wrong and told off lol
Bet that would pair well with the simple dinner I just made: 1 can of re-fried beans, 2 cups water, 2 teaspoons of chicken broth powder, 1 handful of frozen mixed veggies, 2 handfuls of elbow macaroni noodles, 2 pinches of sea salt, splash of olive oil, splash of apple cider vinegar. Heat re-fried beans, frozen veggies, oil, and vinegar in pot. Add the 2 cups of water, and bring to boil. Add the broth powder, sea salt, macaroni noodles, and whisk so the re-fried beans dissolve, and broth powder mixes. Remove from heat, and let stand for 10-15 minutes until noodles are cooked. Really good meal. You could easily add your choice of meat, and/or an egg or two, letting the egg cook poached style. Alternatively, the frozen mixed veggies could be replaced with canned mixed veggies.
Love these videos. People don't know what their missing. I have a stew recipe for small game and i put some of the tougher venison cuts in there too. Damn fine meal to come home to after a long day runnin' trap lines or hunting. keep'em coming Dave, these videos are great!
Grandma cooked water grandpa shot, trapped or fished. I grew up eating rabbit, squirrels, ground hogs, deer, fish and turtles. I never had crow but sure listened to them squawk every morning. I had an uncle who had a crow for a pet. Ahhh the good old days.
Man Dave, I ain't had Crow in many years! My Dad used to take us hunting when older Brother and I were just kids up in NW Alabama! Hadn't thought about it as a grown Man out here hunting deer, hog and squirrel, but might have to give it another go! Thanks for the video and looking forward to more in this series!
I assume it tastes like chicken with a gamey twang on the palate 😋 Reputedly a clever bird - perhaps it's witty spirit will permeate Dave's being 😊 Thanks Mr C.
Absolutely right. They are scared. I have eaten a lot of small woodland creatures. It is mainly the preparation that makes them good or not. I strain and save all my grease in a large mason jar. Then it handles like crisco. Just melt a heaping scoop and you're good to go.
I was always under the impression that carrion in general were possibly unsafe to eat because of certain diseases they may carry due to what they eat. Crows especially were always sort of a bad juju thing to me, and I don't know why, perhaps just a cultural thing. As someone who eats crow and is living the outdoorsman life style, Dave, can you tell me your thoughts on this?
Dave..!! Semper-fi sir.. my dad used to say there was 2 birds he would eat 1 buzzards 2 crows.. i have to say i agree with you..!! They are actually not bad as long as you on over cook them..
Dave, Have you ever seen any black bears around your property? I also love your videos I have been watching you from the beginning of your RUclips videos. To go back at the beginning till now is amazing. You deserve all of the success for keeping people in the woods.
Great video Dave , Really like your camping outfit. Roughing it smoothly 😉 I feed lots of crows in the yard. Never thought about eating one.😂 Thank you for sharing.
There are a few things survival wise I won’t eat and for different reasons. One of them being this magnificent bird. More for you all, I guess heh. Love your methods and teaching. Thank you for all you do! Your books are great and your videos are even better Dave!!!
I have the same thing to say about groundhog. Cut it up shake and bake it . On a racetrack so that all the grease drips away. At 350 degrees until an internal temperature of 165. Pro-tip treated like chicken and marinade overnight. I like to use a seasoned buttermilk.
Love the video .when your cleaning the crow have you ever done it like a partridge and put it's feet between your fingers of one hand and step on his winds and pull its a fast and easy way to it done
David kraai is een alles eter dus lekker mijn moeder maakte er soep van ,,2 grote kraaien en een hele boel groente ! en heel belangrijk toen goedkoop!! 1960/65 👍
From the show Yee-Haw! "What's for dinner grandpa?" (Not referring to you although I can picture it in my mind.) Never had crow breast. Plenty of dove breast though, especially if it's marinated overnight for an afternoon delight.
Crows are some of the most intelligent creatures of the eastern forest. I've never met a man who's found a crow's nest while it was still being used. They always leave the nest discreetly and gather at another location before beginning the day's scavenging run.
Always better to use a grill made for the purpose. The old (and new for that matter) fridge and stove shelves are plated with metals that are bad to consume. Whether breathing vapors from getting hot in the fire or eating from cooking directly on them you are ingesting cadmium and chromium as well as other alloys.
I'd try crow, but I do think they're very cool animals bc of how smart they are. One of the few animals that make tools to solve problems. I want to try an elk steak fresh after a hunt at camp. We don't have any elk down here lol.
My great-grandmother said crow was nasty . But she also ate a lot of it during the great depression so it could have been something more to do with association than flavor.
It never dawned on me that people ate crows hahah. That is interesting. How do they taste? Because aren't they scavengers meaning they will eat anything.
Grew up on a farm. Listen to them crow caws all day and they're really intelligent pack animals. Never tried to eat one of them, although have tried dove and it was great. The breast feathers that shimmer like a rainbow are great for tying fuzzy black trout flies. Dipped in the solution that makes them float, feiend used to sell them for $2-5 ea. Said that everything hits on them including Bass. Crow i woud think has ro be better than a possum. Ate one of those in a eat it or starve situation boiled and nope. Nasty big rat. Maybe fries is better. Heard that raccoon is best BBQ on a grate.

Just like eating a gizzard, love you Dave, my grandpa use to say crow was great thought he was BS it looks good 😮

I enjoyed all the cooking classes you used to show. This is the best of both worlds. Thanks for sharing
Fun video Dave. 6:27 who else understood Dave speaking bacon? ❤️😂
I've heard of the old saying "eating crow" but you took it to the next level!!!!! I'll take the squirrel please!!! 🤣
Eating Crow and Sawing Logs... Old School. You are the King Sir. Thank You and All of your Trainers for your never ending Service. Good Lessons for every one. Start at the base Living, and Fight eating worms till the Hunt is Victorious!
Many people don't realize what they are missing out on. Love the channel Dave. 👏
We always learn something new from Dave and it's awesome to learn new outdoors skills from Dave every day
Hard for me to watch having trained local crows who bring me trinkets, but I totally get it. Food is food 👍 Great vid Dave.
Alone in a small camp and a good meal. Nothing beats the inner peace you receive.
Always enjoy learning more about how to smooth it in the bush. Thanks Dave
I could watch Dave’s cooking videos all day, makes me want to go out to the woods and cook myself
I always wondered about eating crow. Now I know, thanks, you're the first I've seen.

Great video! As usual. Thanks for sharing.👍
Dave is the man! I love this guy and he is the major reason I purchased "Duel Survivor" !!!
There is good, there is great and then there is this man! A living legend!
Awesome video Dave thanks much for sharing. Looking forward to the camp layout video! My wife and I both do impressions of you whenever we eat something really good. Oooo man!
😂 me too !
You are awesome Dave and keep them coming i will tune in.
Great video, Dave! I really wish that I could be out there with you. Looking forward to seeing your base camp set up. Nothing wrong with smoothing it!
Great advice David, that’s my go to this afternoon, a little squirrel hunting and maybe a crow 🐦⬛
Love these videos. People don't know what their missing. I have a stew recipe for small game and i put some of the tougher venison cuts in there too. Damn fine meal to come home to after a long day runnin' trap lines or hunting. keep'em coming Dave, these videos are great!
I get lots of crows in my back garden. You have got me thinking now. 😊😊😊😊. Greetings from England.
Great video as always. Love the cooking and the hunting. I use a henry lever 410 for most of my small game. 🇨🇦
Been camping out since the early sixties love your stuff
My great grandmother a child of the great depression often made crow and noodles or dumplins I always loved it also not bad fried with onions
Grandma cooked water grandpa shot, trapped or fished. I grew up eating rabbit, squirrels, ground hogs, deer, fish and turtles. I never had crow but sure listened to them squawk every morning. I had an uncle who had a crow for a pet. Ahhh the good old days.
Dave, you let us escape with each video. Great content.
Morning here from the uk. Do you prefer the rounded canteen or the kidney and could you give you reason why. Keep up the awesome work!
Fine breakfast. Thanks for the video, never thought about crow.
I love these videos! I really like the grill, but we never got the close up! But I'm sure you will do a video on it soon! Good hunt!
Man Dave, I ain't had Crow in many years! My Dad used to take us hunting when older Brother and I were just kids up in NW Alabama! I bought that PF skillet four years ago and been using it everyday in my home kitchen.
The same for the PF tea pot.
I assume it tastes like chicken with a gamey twang on the palate 😋 Reputedly a clever bird - perhaps it's witty spirit will permeate Dave's being 😊
Thanks Mr C.
Interesting. Never thought of crow being a potential food source. Unless it's in your book and I haven't got that far yet. Love the sound only intro
I was always told you can’t eat crow or raven. Guess the old timers told me incorrectly and now I gotta try it.
They're taboo to eat or kill in some native American cultures.
Awesome video as always Living the life many of us want to
Nice video... crystal clear camera ! Very nice. Thanks. ...Alan in 🇨🇱
Love the video and looking forward to more along these lines.
Thanks for sharing. Guess I’m going to have to try crow this weekend 👍✌️
Hell yeah, looking forward to this series 👍
Another great video, Love this channel.
duuude no!!! haven't you even SEEN that 70's show?.! that's somebody's soul, man..
Hi Dave. Is the Pathfinder Bowie knife available yet? I coikdnt find it on the website. Thanks!
Absolutely right. They are scared. I have eaten a lot of small woodland creatures. It is mainly the preparation that makes them good or not. I strain and save all my grease in a large mason jar. Then it handles like crisco. Just melt a heaping scoop and you're good to go.
Good caw caw on the crow breasts, Dave! Love your videos! Makes me want to be in the woods.
Great job love your work thanks for sharing you are the man

Nice Dave, enjoyed watching!
I love all his videos but I've yet to see anyone mention that Dave kinda sounds like Ricky from trailer park Boys.....which I love! 😂😂
Great video Dave ,
Really like your camping outfit. Roughing it smoothly 😉
I feed lots of crows in the yard. Never thought about eating one.😂
Thank you for sharing.
Love the tiger stripe dave , wish i could get that in wool .
Dave's new mukbang ASMR channel is in the works. Oh man...
King Dave. King of the woods.
How did you harvest the crow? Pellet gun? I am reminded of a video you did and you said opposum and raccoon were tasty but coyote not so much.

A bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work.
Outstanding video Dave
do you use those "kephart fire irons" that you made a while back anymore?
What device did you use to hunt ? Do you still use that single shot break open ?
You've inspired me Dave I'm going to eat a crow! 😁
For a second I didn’t realize this was the same David from the duel survival series but then I remembered who he was 😂.

Dave's the best, only book (Bushcraft 101) I carry in my pack next to the Bible!!

Waiting on that batwing canteen cup..... wonder what the price point on that will be
Dude he is yumming that up!!
Looked really good Dave! Have a great day!
Looking forward to this new grill.
They are really good to eat; they taste like beef even though there is not much meat on them.
Dave is a beast...nuff said.
Excellent Stuff! Hell of a breakfast
Dont know why exactly, but i just love this video!
I’ve honestly been looking for a Dave Canterbury approved folding grill, the roll cook poles are out of st k hope they come in thanks Dave….☺️
Never had crow but I love gizzards, liver and heart.
Right on. Really cool video!
Thanks Dave
Great video!
