Since I'm a contrarian Duntisbourne is definitely top 3 for me, such a bizarre tone to the album I haven't heard anywhere else. In association with the cover it creates an uncanny atmosphere. Eggshell I like to imagine a farmer couple growing old, their crops dying, and their skin slowly becoming gaunt till their skin falls off.

I love Mike's music so much and I only got his music because of your discography reviews. Thanks for introducing me to Mike. Here is my ranking:
    11. Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique
    10. Scurlage
    9. Bilious Paths
    8. 1977
    7. Magic Pony Ride
    6. Tango N' Vectif
    5. Lunatic Harness
    4. Chewed Corners
    3. Bluff Limbo
    2. Royal Astronomy
    1. In Pine Effect
I am looking forward to the next set of discography reviews. Keep up the great work.

    Great list there, Tommy.
Here is mine from worst to best.
    11. Duntisbourne
    10. Scurlage
    9. Lunatic Harness
    8. In Pine Effect
    7. Bluff Limbo

    5. 1977
    4. Magic Pony Ride
    3. Royal Astronomy
    2. Tango N' Vectif
    1. Bilious Paths
As someone who loves hardcore stuff Bilious Paths is my fave album by Mike, with Johnny Mastricht is in my top 3 μ-Ziq tracks
And with my fucking fear that was invoked by the infamous Drum Light from the album i cannot for the life of me listen to Duntisbourne ever again due to the sheer fear i get from those fricking off kilter synths and the FUCKING noise.
Might need therapy for that one...

Yay, I was obviously looking forward to this video and it’s here!!! This series was absolutely cool to watch, especially since he has released so much music over so many years. Now here’s my ranking of all his albums:
    1. Bluff Limbo
    2. Tango N’ Vectif
    3. Lunatic Harness
    4. Royal Astronomy
    5. Chewed Corners
    6. In Pine Effect
    7. Bilious Paths
    8. Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique
    9. Magic Pony Ride
    10. 1977
    11. Scurlage
(also, if i were to include Expert Knob Twiddlers, it would probably be below Royal Astronomy, pushing down Chewed Corners and everything else.)
Anyways, this was a hard list to put together, mainly because I didn’t dislike a single one of his albums and I could probably switch around my least favorites depending on what my mood is, although my top 3 is most likely never going to change anytime soon.
Looking forward to the next series, as I’ve never looked into much of Tangerine Dream, but this should be interesting!!!

It is difficult for me to make a complete ranking of the entire µ-Ziq discography, mostly due to the fact that each of his projects has something interesting that is worth listening to, so instead I am going to list my top 5 with the albums that I usually return to often.

    2 - Magic Pony Ride
    3 - Tango N' Vectif
    4 - Chewed Corners
    5 - Bluff Limbo

Saw him live in Seattle 20 years ago. He only had a laptop, I was at first pessimistic. Yet from the beginning to end I was blown away by perhaps the best electronic performance I had ever seen. There was no gaps between tracks, as cliche as the term goes it truly was a "brain dance" taken to nth degree. Love Muziq!

I haven't listened to all of them and will throw in archival works as they are the ones I picked up on before I knew they were archival works, but I want to mention at least some of the ones I really like. Excluding Secret Garden (which is really good) because its a work with Mrs. Jynx
    1) Tango n' Vectif: I love this like head throbby orange city vibe, colorful and futuristic.
    2) Royal Astronomy: This has a bit of a select mood lo-fi feel, but one of my go to for the drama and melodies
    3) Magic Pony Ride: u-Ziq I feel is largely defined by a fluffy soft melodic sound that may take some time getting used to but this exemplifies that for me
    4) Chewed Corners: I love this holographic sound, the use of footwork style music, makes it feel so vibrant
    5) Lunatic Harness: This one is weird as it feels the most 'home listening', like distinctively plain that makes the melodies feel pure and pristine. A select mood for me
    6) Challenge Me Foolish: This one has plenty of great tracks but well lacks the cohesion (it is archival after all)
    7) Bluff Limbo: This one is pretty good but to me it lacks the distinctive color of the others, plays in two halves of ambient and distorted roboticisms
    8) XTLP: u-Ziqs a natural pairing for ambient type stuff and while not as distinctive, it has a nice color.
    9) Billious Paths: I'm just now sure I get the same feeling from u-Ziq's purely head throbby beat jungle stuff as say Autechre, Venetian Snares, or even Aphex Twin but its an interesting try.
    10) Aberystwyth Marine: kind of same what I said about Billious Paths
I still need to check out the others, obviously!

So fitting though when i randomly decided this year to start listen to Mike's music you're making this, Tommy.
I have listened through all his main albums, his stuff can be so much better than most other IDM artists music, so much of his stuff invokes so many strong emotions not so many other artists can, but sadly most of his albums are quite inconsistent and have more better songs than good albums, all of them having at least 1-4 songs i don't care for for each album.

It feels wrong to plug a certain video, so I won't despite my pride in it lol. If you know, you know :P Here's my ranking without 1977 since I haven't heard it:
    10. Scurlage. It's fine, there's no rhyme or reason to it tho, so it's almost the default bottom spot.
    9. Chewed Corners. I can get the appeal, but if I'm not in the right mood for it, I'm gonna be bored out of my mind. on the other hand, when I am in the mood for it, I could probably put a spot higher or something, idk. It's decent.
    8. Bilious Paths. Very hit or miss, but its hits do hit hard. I'll take it for its best stuff, but it's not an album kind of album imo.
    7. Magic Pony Ride. Pretty solid, pretty chill. I like it lol.
    6. Duntisbourne Abbotts Soulmate Devastation Technique. I like the album as an experience, but I prefer it for its best tracks still. It gets the edge of Magic Pony Ride for its wider variety.
    5. Lunatic Harness. The albums I come back to from here on out. Ig you could call it trendy if you want, with the breaks albums of RDJ album and Feed Me Weird Things before both topping this in quality, I still love this album's sense of mood control. Sometimes fun and wholesome, other times dark and menacing. Good stuff!
    4. Royal Astronomy. Goofier, sometimes hip hoppier, sometimes stringier... it's strangely paced, but it gets ranked up this high for the fact that I really like every track. Pleasant experience overall.
    3. In Pine Effect. I like calssic era Paradinas, who'd've thunk it lol. Simply put, not new stuff to him at this time, just infectious as hell.
    2. Bluff Limbo. This has the best pacing, and the mood swings are lovable. Immaculate, straightforward, subtle, bombastic... for a classic-era IDM album, this has got it all. It has more personality than some people give it credit for.
    1. Tango N'vectif. This album still feels the most ahead of its time to me. The sound design is fantastic for 1993, dare I say blowing the Artificial Intelligence series out of the water. It's impressively consistent at over 2 hours, and it establishes his style to a then-brand-new subgenre. This is an overlooked landmark to a very cool experimental electronic sound and an undeniable classic. This is my favorite.
Great ranking, it was actually more like mine than I thought it would be! Also, this 26:18 description reminds me a bit of EarthBound... sorry, I couldn't help it XD

Going thru the main albums of Mike Paradinas has been a real treat that I'll never forget. Mostly. Hope he's real proud of himself.
Alright, time for ranking and thoughtz:
    11. - Lunatic Harness
Yes, the so-called "pioneering" album for idm and drum 'n' bass certainly has a way of attention grabbing...or rather, lack there of. Apart from Brace Yourself Jason, this album to me has no highlights or stand-alone tracks whatsover. Just a bit too bland for my taste, and I'm not afraid to admit it.
    10. - Duntisborne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique
Well if this album certainly is supposed to be a fake horror movie soundtrack, it does a fair good job of making me feel isolated and paranoid. I can get behind the "jumpscare" in the last track as well. Unlike lunatic harness, i could see myself coming back to this album if i really wanted too.
    9. - Scurlage
Like tommy said in the video, i did find the second half of this album to be fairly stronger than the first, thats why its not dead last for me, but as far as enjoying the whole thing actually goes, it feels more "forced" than admitting this is one of the more "generic" mu-ziq albums. I still enjoy it for what it is, just wish it was more attentive in progression and melodies i suppose...
    8. - In Pine Effect
Can't deny this album is on the same line as scurlage but unlike scurlage, this album does have more unique tracks (roy castle, phiesope & mr angry for example) which makes it more enjoyable for me, but compared to other mu-ziq albums it doesnt really go the extra mile so i think this placement is fair enough.
    7. - 1977
For a laid-back person like me, this album certainly fits right at home. Just put on this album and I'll be lying down in my couch with a slight smile on my face and a cup of tea on the side as if I dont have a single care in the world. Nothing but chill vibes all round.
    6. - Bilious Paths
I may have just said i'm a laid back type of person, but i cannot deny my mind is fast and chaotic paced sometimes as well, so the fact that this album exists is like ordering an adrenaline truck and crashing it right thru my doorway in full scattered detail. Venetian Snares and Alec Empire ain't got nothin' on this.
    5. - Magic Pony Ride
This album is pretty much the embodiment of living in a fantasyland, and i really like it for that reason. Granted, not every track gets to me as some tracks definitely stand out more than others (Magic Pony Ride Pt. 1, Uncle Daddy, Brown Chaos, etc.) But the emotion put into this album, i cannot deny. As well as mikes daughters involvement on this album, it just adds that little childlike sparkle to it as well.
    4. - Tango 'n' Vectif
First five tracks really pulled me in but after that the album just sorta lost its touch, tho I am willing to give it another chance. Think I'll definitely listen to it again sometime in the close future, and by that I mean the full 2+ hour version not just the "full" album youtube upload.
    3. - Royal Astronomy
Certainly like the medieval, cinematic and absolutley cartoonish sound this album has with the mix of amen breaks n such. A unique and very comical album, 4 sure. As Dizzie Rascal would put it, this album is bonkers.
    2. - Chewed Corners
Pure blissful ecstasy is all i can say to describe this album, cant go wrong here at all. Each track just bringing sweet vibes after sweet vibes and with it all rounding up with "weakling paradinas," it felt like my mind had gone thru a heavenly drug overdose. God this album makes me feel so giddy.
    1. - Bluff Limbo
I think what puts this album at the top is not only how it keeps you locked in from front to back but also how it has a little bit of everything unique about mikes work. Just bringing something new to the table every time. Also the detail and progression of each track is pretty much on point. Really need to listen to this album more often.
(And if I were to include Challenge Me Foolish, it'd be between chewed corners and bluff limbo, i just think its THAT enjoyable and unique, i consider it the "brian eno" album of mu-ziq.)
