Great info. You are a big part of the reason I started cutting. Been waiting to purchase a new machine as I have been using a flat lap for a couple years now. Also I am about to experiment with adding pigment to change the color of devcon for backing hopefully with good results. You are the man. Thanks for the years of great content.
Very useful video, especially when you use a Genie. Thanks for everything. Merry Christmas to you, Lynn and the rest of the family and friends. Cheers.
Do you have any tricks for getting wheels off that seem to be fused to the shaft? I had to get to my pump belt because it was only hanging on by a thread (literally!)... I was able to remove the hard wheels but once I got to the 280 soft wheel it wouldn't budge for the life of me. I was able to eventually get it done by removing the other side; I wish I had known that it could be done that way from the very beginning but that's a different story. Anyway, long story short I got the belt changed but my 280 grit is still fused to the shaft. I think some swarf may have gotten in there and bound the vinyl bushing to the shaft. It's an old machine that I have been using on and off for over 20 years now. Any suggestions for getting it off besides just brute force? I don't need to do it immediately but I have gotten much more serious about the craft recently and the wheels are actually starting to wear out. (Kudos to DP for making wheels that last for so damn long!!!)
I think I'll get that DP Genie. Do you have a code for a discount? Also, thanks for the fun last night racing to bid faster for all the sweet lots ya'll had available.
Thanks I'll look them up when I need. Just starting my new adventure with cabbing. Got the 8" Novas for my new refurbished old Highland Park B-10 (a beast, but beautiful). Again, thanks for all your video work. Subscribed and watched often!
Beats me most people don’t sell their wheel hubs anymore since they get them resurfaced for $35 maybe your best bet is to contact like a lapidary club or something or you and ask him if they have any
The wheels on the right are prime candidates for recoating but the second you wear a divot or flat spots into it then it's toast. (looks like you're 10 minutes of use away from toast) Recoat them yourself to save $ and do a better job then Johnson Bros. The how-to is out there.
If you’re looking for a new machine, feel free to text me 772-284-4459 I can match the Kingsley North price, and if you’re not in California, I could probably even beat it to
That sonora sunrise at 3:55 is spectacular. Astonishing shine.
It’s actually ocean jasper

Bro I remember when your first video dropped using that machine back in the 80's. You're still rockin it! See you at Quartzite LD.
Thank you so much for the knowledge sharing!
Thanks Dave... I've been wondering if it was time to replace!
Thank you for always sharing your knowledge with a joyful heart ❤️ 💙
Thanks Dave. Very useful info for us bought-used DP Genie machine people. :) Let's us plan out the remaining life of these wheels.

The first thing I'd try is a rubber mallet. Fingers crossed. Good luck.
Say Dave , question about where to find diamond dust to refurbish my nova wheels . Thanks Moose

Yeah, I have a discount I can be pretty much everybody’s price if you use Zelle
Thanks for your video! What do you think about resurfaced wheels, and DIY resurfaced wheels?
I like the johnson brothers resurfaced wheels I’ve never used a DIY homebrew resurfaced wheel that I liked

I just want to know where I can find used wheels very cheap for learning. I’m not loaded and can’t make the big jump in to new wheels or belts

@@lapidarydave not a bad idea wish there was anything close
I bet I can find one somewhere

The perfect for what I’m cutting right now which is 99% turquoise. I can’t bring myself to switch out wheels they’re still kicking ass.
@@lapidarydave - I wish I had turquoise. Looking forward to seeing your work!
