Great video ! Gonna save my money for another class at IPCS. Regarding this video, I am little bit curious what is the definition of the term "serum" in skincare/haircare, is serum should be in the format viscous liquid/gel/lotion? Because I found "face serum cream", "serum hair mask", in the market and I dont get the point about what is nutritive ingredient is...
Serum is not a gel but not a lotion either - it is such a versatile product form which is why they are so popular! they can also be water based or oil based - this video shows a gel based serum, we'll have to bring out an oil based serum and lotion like serum next!

Phase A is regular glycerin with nothing added. There is plant base glycerin and glycerin from an animal that you can chose from. In phase C that isnt plant base glycerin (regular). She is talking about extracts that is mixed with glycerin so it's not 100% glycerin. Example a rose water extract made from rose tea and mix with glycerin. Hard to explain but I bought extracts before. I prefer to make my own because it would be stronger.

Hi IPCS, Niacinimide usually requires a pH of 6, why is it different in this case?
Niacinamide is not actually that pH sensitive - not like vitamin A or vitamin C! It is stable 3.5 - 7.5, so it is fine anywhere in this range

Thanks for the video. Do 3.5% oils not need an emulsifier, and would xanthan gum alone stabilise it?
It’s dispersed. Many gel formulas aren’t emulsified but very small amount of oils are dispersed throughout gel.
Xanthan gum is sufficient to stabilise this amount of oils :) Please email us for full formulation, method and supplier details: info@personalcarescience.com.au we provide this free. Happy formulating!

What you have used to combine oil and water
The rheology modifier will do the stabilising as there is a very low lipid input.
