    This is a magic, not topology. The trick is on the right hand - you need release the end of rope and grab the rope again.

      I could tell that he let go and grabbed the rope again as his right hand is holding the rope in a different position than when he started. I confirmed this by watching at a slower speed.

      Reality checks hurt the soul yearning for mystery… we clearly are as a species predisposed to prefer magical thinking over realism and discovery. Thank god for both scientists and magicians! ;-)
