The recesses in the grey wing are so perfect with the rounded bevel, just like it was molded or hot pressed in by the factory. That is some quality craftsmanship right there.
What I’ve done with good success on wings and whatnot is to cut the outline all the way through to the other side then punch the block out. After cutting the top of the block off to the depth required just use your favorite foam glue to put the bottom back into place! Hole ends up with a nice flat bottom and damage to the underside is practically invisible.
Carving is easy, or so I was told by a local artist. Years ago as I admired his lifelike carving of an eagle ... well I ask how he could create such a life like sculpture. Two steps, first is find the right material. Then cut away everything that is not an eagle. Yep simple two steps . Take care.
Pretty interesting process, Lee! Thanks for all the tips! 😃 You know, maybe a well sharpened chisel could help there... I guess I'm going to get a piece of foam and try it! 😃 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I used a spare soldering iron to cut my gps hole in my Diatone Ripper. Sadly , I went full send and popped the cabin cover off while over a wooded area. Lol 😆 maybe a tutorial on how to make a canopy / cabin cover 😄
Can you do a video with the fix for the pixhauk 4 on Ardupiot FMU B/E led red & blue glitch the info is online but I can't make head nor tails of how to implement it. And is there any way to calibrate ESC's (on sbus as as the wires are soldered to the pixhauks pdb) when mission planners tool don't work nor dose the normal way as all Im getting is B B B B B as soon as my battery gets plugged in. But px4 Fw on QGC can calibrate them fine every time . Sorry for being of subject but Im in need of help figgering this out 🤔🤔🤔😖
Thanks to all of you who shared how you do it. Great to see sharing of cool tips and ideas. Happy flying!

Stellar demonstration with all the tricks to avoid the gotchas!
Posted literally an hour after I receive my wing in the mail. Amazing. Thank you haha!
My personal favorite is the heated paper clip method
Nice!
I use a blade to outline, then a dremel with the rotary tool attachment and milling bit, set to the depth required😎
I do this too, works great and if you work precisely you can get a good flat bottom of the pocket that you are milling out!

So just like drawing a circle according to SpongeBob
I usually score the area I want to cut multiple times front to back and left to right. then I take some pliers and rip it apart.
@Aaron Rogers Exactly!
For getting the depths right: I use a thin strip of colored tape placed on the blade.
Nice. Good lesson for the newbie.

Great tips thanks
Don't you use hot wire cutting?
I think it's much easier and faster, just takes some practice to get the temp right 😊
thanks for the 💡.
Perfect timing
Nice.
good to know.
I use a hobby knife to rough it out and the then use a hot wire pen or wire to finish the corners.

Why is it they always seem to pop off over woods/water? It is like they know! Best of luck!
Basically, don't rush it. Take your time and think about the cut before you start.

Please see my Arduplane and Arducopter 2020 series for all the steps I follow to setup Arducopter.. Best of luck
@@Painless360 its just the esc's that will not calibrate
Ok 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
