Everybody wins when Arumba does these stream/youtube crossovers. It's less work for Arumba, and really dumb mistakes like queuing up 5 galleys in place of light ships tend to get caught a lot faster. He can record batch record a bunch of episodes and get instant feedback too.
Colonization seems OP now. Played as Novgorod, was absolutely stinking rich, and by the time I was buying charters, I was already making enough money to buy every upgrade in every region. The army tradition upgrade is great. The more merchants you get, the more lvl3 CoTs you can get. Throw in trade posts and you can have 150-200 trade power in one province.
@@WateringCan take the core muscovy has on you, release that as a free city so he cannot use it to auto declare on you. Unless I'm absolutely desperate for a tech up in a war I'm losing, I'll always take the mercantilism in that event. It's 200 diplo and relation boost vs 60 mil points.
I hate the selling ships mechanic. That's one way to throw the opening balance off kilter for no reason at all; an AI that just buys shit because they have the money to spend.
"Honey, don't be mad but you know how you always said you liked the ocean? Well I picked up 2 used Carracks at the... what do you mean? Of course they weren't on sale... Babe, we can talk about this!"
Colonial gameplay is so much better now. I charted a company in India then sent over a large army while I had a 4 mil tech advantage over them and conquered all of India off of that
Love to see some trade company action. Portugal and hollan are for me the only 2 European nations i enjoy this patch because of the debuffs to expanding into Europe/africa
Arumba, you made me a very happy man today... And I don't usually say this to a guy! So I went to twitch cuz i was so curious to see, as how far was he in the this LP. And he formed Spain... You Sir have made me a very sad man.
If you want to control more of the Sevilla node, make claim on castille, ally Aragon and promise them land, then wait for Castille to go yo war whit Moroco and Granada. Be sure that Castille rival Baguette and it's an ez win.
Finally, an up to date campaign with my country! But to be honest I'm not a fan of dharma update because of changes to religion/missionaries and states/territories, so I'm curious to see how a Portugal game plays out in this patch as I was doing a campaign with it in RB.
Daniel Santos I agree, Dharma is just too expensive and doesn’t really offer much. Also the introduction of estates in the free update is pretty annoying for me as I don’t own The Cossacks
As you will see in this series (I've been watching live), it actually is not a problem for Portugal because you want everything to be in Trade Companies and so you don't have to worry about religion.
But that's exactly why everyone including me is so mad about this update changes to states corruption and autonomy and religion/culture conversion, doesn't matter what nation you pick, the way to go is to conquer trade company regions, again and again, you pick a asain nation you move capital to Europe, in other words, you got less options in play-stile. I mean they do it right in CK2, in CK2 snow-blobbing is extremely easy but it's not a problem because CK2 offers a lot of options to play. In EU the latest patches seem to be taking away options.
That might be true, but you asked about Portugal specifically and the normal way to play them has long been do go for Trade Companies, so that hasn't changed. And since TCs are more fun now with the extra mechanics, I'd say this is a good patch for a Portugal campaign (maybe a bit too overpowered in fact). For other tags, maybe not so much.
Yeah that's probably a good thing. Before the player could sit around and boost their colonies all day & night while the AI was stuck with some shit mission it was never going to accomplish. Really throws off the balance when that happens.
I remember the first EU4 Video i watched was the Original Portugal run of yours, been hooked ever since with you and Paradox games. but as a physics major i hate the fuck out of their math
You can still use all the same map modes like terrain and religion. It just changes the colour and look of provinces and countries, it doesn't change the size of provinces or add any more. It's supposed to look smoother. You can get of the steam workshop.
Haven't played in a long time. What do you mean when you say you don't care to explore, "because it's nothing to find" South Africa doesn't exist in 1444?
I think France is the best colonizer now. With exploration + expansion you get -50% uprising chance and one of Frances unlocks gives another -50% so they can go +settler increase in colonization ideas in your first war with england take pale and conquer Ireland than colonize the americas

I think there's a delay in the selling of ships (a country has to accept the offer formally, it says yes in the tab but your diplomat still has to go there) and he sold 3 heavies at the start.
Gilles he doesn’t use any gameplay mods because they disable achievements. But the mod he uses to make the map look like this is Thick Borders and Recolored water

I've come to accept that the first episode of any Arumba stream will be spent watching him sell boats. It's how it's meant to be.

I think it should be a strictly mp mechanic
Yeah that would work just fine. Just too easy to exploit cash early on in the game now. At least for the countries who start with heavies.

learn something every time i watch you
i once accidentally made a trade empire in the late 1400s. apparently i controlled 7 trade nodes and i was make triple of what Venice was making.
I really hope that one of his plans is "own all of Sevilla trade region".
You should punish Castille eventually for how they teased you with the ship purchasing
