HE is so sneaky. He never looked back, but when the ref blows the whistle - he knew exactly what he did and try to deflect blame, still WITHOUT looking back. He planted his feet hoping for contact.

ZaZa would never never never close out that way in a Warriors practice
session. They'd throw him off the team in a heartbeat, with all the
billion-dollar jump shooters they have. He knew where his foot was
landing, squarely beneath Leonard. A pro doesn't absentmindedly slip his
foot that deep into the shooter's landing zone. Just doesn't happen...
I am a lifelong Warriors fan but as far as I'm concerned, this
    championship run is officially bogus...

This took everything in their body to not openly blame Zaza on national TV

  • @JonnyLin7
    @JonnyLin7 7 лет назад +36

None of the plays Kenny showed were like Zaza's. All of those the guys were closing out hard and jumped so their momentum carried them into the player. In fact the only one where the player was really close to being underneath the shooter's landing space was the Raptors, and even so Carroll clearly avoids to be directly under Middleton and contests from Middleton's left side. Golden State example Clark jumps to contest from the side and catches Mccollum's legs a little in mid air, but isn't anywhere near Middleton's landing area, and the Boston one the foul was due to upper body contact, there was plenty of space below for Crawford to land.
The more I watch the more I am now convinced Zaza purposely prevented Kawhi from landing. He only had to move a few feet to contest Kawhi and had very little built up momentum and he didn't jump at all. He easily could have stopped himself, but he continued to shuffle his feet after the shot was released. Probably the worst part is, Zaza is coming from Kawhi's right shoulder and slides all the way under Kawhi's left foot to contest. The example of Demarre Carrol's contest is a perfect comparison. Carroll gets under Middleton a little, but he closed out from a further distance and he left his feet so his momentum carried him a bit towards Middleton, but he remains on Middleton's left side, so the closeout is completely natural. Zaza comes across Kawhi's body with no momentum other than him shuffling his own feet. Considering Kawhi's also a right handed shooter, it makes even less sense and you'd want to contest on his shooting side, so clearly an unnatural movement.

Kenny Smith doesnt remember what kind of player Zaza was.. dude comon man. go watch RUclips. what happened last season that Zaza almost killed Mills and tried to break Leonard's arm. People say Bowen is a dirty player, and yes we all know what because there are lots of sources show that he played just dirty. If you (Kenny) can find some videos about Zaza's history, and you know that he is a dirty player. Enough said.

Zaza's always been a reckless/clumsy player. He's been in the league long enough to understand how his recklessness/clumsiness affects the game (main reason why he's still in the league). I'm 99.9% sure he knew Kawhi had a bad ankle so he applied his "clumsiness" in that situation to "possibly" take Kawhi out of the game (the worst Zaza could get called for is a shooting foul). He's a vet. He's not stupid.

His intent on the closeout was a blatant attempt to 'intimidate' Kawhi knowing that his ankle was already hurt. His intent may not have been to injure Kawhi further and take him out of the series, but in the heat of battle Zaza crossed that line and that is not acceptable and he should be suspended. Zaza invaded Kawhi's landing space on purpose and Kawhi got hurt.

When you close out you try you best to get your hands up and it's usually a lunge not a slow three step walk underneath a player.

Kenny was wrong in so many ways. A person doesn't have to be looking to hit someone. He said big guys don't practice closeout drills, that's the most obnoxious dumb shit I've heard. The clips he showed were people jumping to contest. Zaza didn't jump, slid his foot TWICE into KL's landing space. It was dirty all the way and most possibly intentional.

It was a fadeaway. Kawhi started with both feet inside the 3pt line and would've landed with that back foot outside the 3pt line. Zaza never jumped to contest the shot. He took two additional steps towards Kawhi "after" Kawhi was already at the height of his shot. If that ain't dirty then what is?

I hate that there are guys defending Zaza, even though he’s had a history of dirty plays. These type of players need to be stamped out. Period.
    Shaq and Chuck knows wassup.

The fact that Kawhi hurt his ankle earlier in the game and zaza was aware of that proves this attempt to injure Kawhi was intentional

Yeah, it's a dirty play. And yeah a lot of people do it. The problem here is that Kawhi tweaked hsi ankle a few minutes earlier and right away he went for exactly that tweaked ankle and the way he ran in offense after the foul was called. He needs to get some kind of penalty for that or he will do it agian until they finally take action. Also Green should have gotten double technical. I am not saying it is right, but people are getting double technicals for way less and if you are going to be strict about it, you ahve to call it to everyone.

Zaza slide his foot to kawhi's injured left ankle just the next 2 plays after kawhi's left ankle rolled accidentally on Spurs bench.. And that's the same guy who nearly break kawhi's arm last year... Sounds pretty obvious to me
