I lost trust with Adobe the moment they decided to change their model to subscription based and made the cloud an essential part of the program, may or may not have pirated the older versions from then on whenever the program started to act up. Honestly not surprised by their greed, but I am surprised by how unashemedly they implemented this bonkers clause into their user agreement and how a lot of companies may even let them go with it
Also to the AI and creatives section, I used to be a fanartist (kind of), nothing huge it was more of a hobby, but commissions, zines and small jobs meant an extra income and drawing was a really nice creative outlet. But with the boom of AI, this sense of "what's the point" become so big that I wasn't able to draw anything for more than a year now, I just can't bring myself to hold a pen or revisit my art accounts. Always nice when people bring up artists situations and how unethical AI is (and also explain how and why is it exactly problematic)

There's this thing with AI art bros where their disdain for art/artists kinda reflects the deep cynicism that's rooted in the conservatism they usually live in. This contempt for the subjective, for emotion, for empathy. For just... all the things that make humans human. This belief that people are inherently selfish, cruel, and have to be threatened into upholding order and getting in line, and that art should only be for upholding the social order and institutions they deem are inherently good.
It's honestly depressing when you get to the core of it and see just how little they think of people and the perspectives they can share through their art. Like they truly just see them as commodities and distractions, and they get frighteningly angry when it's more than that. I guess in that case, soulless AI art is their dream come true.
Oh, also this makes me so glad I'm a Vegas girlie. I still have Vegas 14, and if I wind up using it for the rest of my life, i'm gonna cackle in my grave.

It’s very interesting seeing how these big company’s are handling the AI generative technology, because it’s all being handled terribly. LEGALLY, it is so difficult for AI to work because of the fact it is using works across the internet from those who did not consent to its use. I’m sure Adobe realized this and explains partly why they are forcing EVERYONE to sign to their works being made for AI. It’s disgusting how they know they are a monopoly on so many of these programs ever since they switch to Creative Cloud, and just don’t care. With the US Government filing a lawsuit against Adobe for a lot of the things being stated in this video, I hope that this sends shockwaves across the world, and forces change. We live in a miserable world, and people are justly irritated, but because of this, a large number of people are always going to resent us because of the romanticized nature of our craft. People generally do not understand how much and what we even contribute. There are so many people out there that in the same breath will say that they hate art and don't understand it but also that they could do a better job. As a child, everyone at some point had the potential to create, for most people that was also the last time they had any connection with art because the world works really hard to beat that out of you to turn you into an obedient worker. This is also why they associate art with childish things, and fun. This is a perfect recipe for disaster, for a society which both despises us and wishes to be in our shoes. Anyone can have an idea, but the ability to recognize if that idea is any good or even possible, is also an ability in itself that is not something most people even comprehend. The ruling class isn't any different, so it's no surprise that they wish to achieve this romanticized version of being a creative that never existed in the first place, where creating is just an idea you have and it's fun, short, materializes out of thin air and ultimately isn't very important. The issue is that regardless of art, the ruling class sees everything as theirs and for their taking, they do not mind us as human beings what so ever. This is what not just artists but everyone needs to wake up to. They live in their reality and we are not a part of it. The latest oxymoronic statement from openai cto cannot make it more abundantly clear, she can afford to be in that position and be a walking pr disaster and also not even understand how her product works. They live by their own rules, fail upwards and the rest of us can cease to exist for all they care.

    rant:
I really am anxious these companies are playing so fast and loose with new tech. With devices such as humane ai pin, and other obviously rushed projects, every tech company is trying to justify their stock price compared to Nvidia. And they are unsustainably doing so with feature bloat and vulnerable new api wizardry. Open ai and nvidia are warping the landscape and with the US economy so dependent on it, it is concerning.
my take is they are hoping to put some ai stuff afloat in the market as they work on their corporate infrastructure required to have a position in the new ai space. New types of chips are going to enable the ai services they advertise now at much more cheaper and accessible price but the industry and honestly the entire world economy is shifting which will take some time.
But all that said what Lisa says is very valid imo. Consumers and artists feel far too exploited to put up with these practices for long. And it seems corps dgaf😂

Honestly, i'm not in any way into art, i'm from the academic field (STEM), but i already saw an article AI generated (at least in some parts, like intro text and images) who had *wrong* information. And it got *published* in a (not very trusted, may i say) science journal
I don't remember very much about it rn (i think it was a type of prototype of medicacion, but not very sure), but the illustration had like, a rat with 3 testicles. With basic science class you know that this is not correct!
So if i got pissed about someone not taking my job field seriously and having to appeal to AI, i can't imagine having the potential (and iminence) of having your hole carrer/job/skills replaced and stolen like that.

What an amazing time to have always been an Adobe hater😆 Never could truly get into photoshop, I can't explain it, I just don't like the ui and functions...this made me look for alternatives early on. Had to grit my teeth and learn a bit of PS during uni but after graduation never got back lmao
To anyone into any graphic design, illustration, animation etc. - look into other softwares, a lot or most of them are either one-time payment or completely free. Don't be miserably stuck with adobe just cuz of all the fancy menus and 'lots of features'.

      @@LisaFevral Sure!
For digital art: PaintTool SAI, Krita and Clip Studio Paint, for Ipad users Procreate
For 2D animation: Moho or TVPaint, there's also Toon Boom but this one's on a monthly payment like adobe
For 3D animation: blender. That's it. It's free and you don't need anything else
For vector and motion graphics - unfortunately I'm not that well versed in this field so can't recommend specific programs sorry :c
Two extra programs that I wasn't sure how to categorize, both on monthly billing but with free tiers:
Figma - for Web Design and prototyping, especially nice for working in teams.
Canva - I've seen in on the rise, for graphics in general. Never used it myself but it's currently meddling in some AI tools, so maybe better to stay away or read more into their policies? Still felt like worth mentioning
Hope this helps some ppl 😘

Call me paranoid or whatever, but I feel like they purposefully chose skilled art professions to replace with machine
Throughout history, all shapes of art (even cooking) were used as a form of protest, bringing awareness, and sparking political and societal conversations. If you look up any uprisings and or revolutions (old or recent), you can see how much of a hand art had in moving people and bringing people together. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they picked art out of all the other professions out there to replace with AI
I might be looking too deep into it, but I believe there’s always a reason behind the bullshit higher ups and billionaires do

This push towards using AI to do everything is really scary. I'm not a creator, but I can see a problem if we let AI systems start doing the work of designers and artists. If people lose their jobs to AI then we will get less and less people wanting to go into that kind of work. Eventually there might not be any humans doing that kind of work at all. Some may say what does it matter if AI can do the same job, and it might not matter to an extent. But there is one thing AI can never replace: that is the spark of genius. Artists and designers come up with brilliant new ideas all the time, machines can't do that, and probably never will be able to.

When majority of adobe's customers are in the creative space, it's weird for them to create AI to replace their jobs....Art created by actual artist has life, has soul because it came from years of trial / error, experimentation, growth, education etc. Art created by AI using prompt has 11 fingers, and I mean the AI users can't even go back and re-draw the fingers is it because they can't or doesn't know how to draw fingers... which is a basic skill to learn... learning how to draw anatomy... lol!

I think people don't care about terms of services and will start caring only when their company gets in trouble and it's too late.
On Adobe side I don't think they want to replace jobs necessarily I believe they see AI generated content as a help for creative but it's the exact opposite. It makes creatives extremely lazy because AI work by definition takes the average of things that has already existed. So using AI to make art is by essence running in circles and creating over and over the same stuff that has already existed before.
Not everything about AI is bad, I think in Word it's really interesting especially to help dyslexic persons or just help in general to raise your writing quality. But when I see how it's applied in PowerPoint for example I'm thinking to myself this is too much. It's trying to replace your creativity with microwaved ideas it's just bad

The AI training thing is troublesome but compared to what followed next in the text it's the least troublesome thing in the ToS. It says that Adobe can review the content your are working on by automated or manual means. That means that if you use any Ai tools, photoshop will upload the file you are working on to be reviewed and it may be reviewed by a person to deem if your content is "appropriate". Now imagine you are working on a unreleased ad campaign for a perfume or a product or a gravure/intimate photoshoot or you are an Onlyfans model, now someone may have and see your files and potentially leak any of those files... it's ridiculous.

"Tech bro", here. And not just any tech bro, I was a musician once upon a time.
I left music for software 13 years ago, because I saw the writing on the wall. I sympathize for all the creatives who are basically having their work plagiarized by AI, but I have to stress this: _it only gets worse_
The ugly truth is, you are all basically martyrs, and your suffering is buying us time. The fact that the big AI companies are so focused on training these massive models is slowing them down. Did _you_ need billions of examples to learn to edit photos? These large language models are built on techniques that were perfected around 2016-ish. The pace of progress has actually slowed to a crawl, it's just the scale that has grown. The longer we can sit right here, the better, because the next step will put us all out of work.
And for the record: no one who works with paper, or with computers is safe. Not even programmers.

Adobe feeding people's work is so crazy to me, especially since the Adobe programs are industry standard, so you'd think that it would breach not only privacy of your own work, but also copyrights in the process of feeding the files to AI. It's so sad to me that these tech companies are all hopping onto the AI trend even though the majority of people dislike AI.
I also see art schools nowadays incorporating AI into their curriculum and that baffles me since the students don't approve of AI either. On the second floor of my school's fine arts building, there are TVs dedicated to displaying AI art right in front of the elevators so it's the first thing you see. 🥲 And all of the AI work is incredibly soulless. There's so many skilled students in the school but they choose to display that instead.

Speaking as an aspiring writer (oh dear, I guess that makes me a creative, at least potentially) that used to work in IT, I easily saw the potential for abuse with "AI art tools." The mentality of certain douchebags that think they're artists only makes it worse; using NightCafe DOESN'T make you an artist and using ChatGPT DOESN'T make you a writer! I knew form the beginning that Adobe turning their software into a subscription model was going to be troublesome, but I didn't know it would get as bad as it has! I NEVER liked the concept of having to be online and log into a server controlled by someone else just to open YOUR files stored on YOUR PC! I used to use Photoshop, up the CS era, for fun, but if I had to put up with the current CC version for a living... 😠👿
I still freelance in IT from time to time and I've assisted some people that MUST use Adobe software as part of their livelihood to be... untethered and keeping their workfiles more secure.
