@@WilliamJusticeMedia You da man Bill. I do have a challenge if you wish to tempt it. Take a clip from inside a room where you see a window just off to the right. In this clip, you have a blur transition to where now the window is off to the left. This is a rendered clip, so you cannot remove the blur transition. Now the challenge: This is an exercise in masking. Change the scene in the window to something with motion, like a burning house or kids playing or whatever. Somehow you have to manage the blur transition for your window motion image. It needs to fade just like the rest of the room, and then reappear in the new location. I've spent a great amount of time trying to solve this. It would be easy to do if this was not a rendered blue. I'd simply produce two separate clips and add the blur transition. But to emulate this for an already existing clip that contains a blur transition and you want to change the window view, that's a major challenge. PS: You cannot 'cut out' the blur transition and then reapply. That would be cheating (and is the easiest solution of course). No, the challenge is to blur fade a mask. Are you up for it? :-)
Congratulations William. I was waiting for this transition and it's really amazing. You are one of the best Davinci Resolve editors I've seen on RUclips.

The depth and methodic of explanation, combined with well prepared and exciting examples ... just a real delight and very professional! I just want to let you know, that I really appreciate that. Thank you very much!!!
Hello! I liked this transition very much, thank you! Can you explain how to do the lower third (side bar) with this effect which starts in 0:07. Thank you!
I basically used the grid effect but added a mask so only the bottom part displayed. I may make a video showing how i set it up. It was not too difficult. Appreciate your comments
@@WilliamJusticeMedia I don't see them in my folder. (I meant old transitions actually) The old transitions are in the resolve 17 transitions list, but they don't work properly. And I can't find them on the hard drive... Unless I'm looking in the wrong place. I only see the new transitions I added in the folder.
I finally installed the "Just Grid Transition" fusion Macro and put the workaround to the test and it seems to be working. It only needs two resize nodes surrounding the "Mosaic Blur" node. The first "resize" node neede is after the "Fast Noise". In the resize node set expression for Width "math.ceil(FastNoise1.Output.OriginalWidth/MosaicBlur1.PixelFrequency)*MosaicBlur1.PixelFrequency" and set the Height "math.ceil(FastNoise1.Output.OriginalHeight/MosaicBlur1.PixelFrequency)*MosaicBlur1.PixelFrequency". This will resize the Fast Noise resolution prior to flowing into the "Mosaic Blur" node so the mosaic aligns with the grid. After the "Mosaic Blur" node, an additional resize node is used to resize to original image size. The Width : "FastNoise1.Output.OriginalWidth" and Height: "FastNoise1.Output.OriginalHeight". This fixes the glitch that you mention on the video. Keep on sharing and keep up the good work. Thank you.. Cheers :)
Interesting, I actually created a similar one a while back, but it was all with masks and duplicates (although that made them a bit more static, and also probably more resource intensive because of the duplicate nodes). By the way, how did you get your versions to save when you exported it as a macro? I tried exporting a few transitions I was building but for some reason they versions wouldn't get saved.
Thanks... Best part about fusion is that there are so many different ways to do things. For the versions,.. there may be different ways to do it, but I do it with copy/paste. First i create the basic macro and the load that into a fusion composition. Then I add the versions. After the versions are setup...select the node and copy it (CTRL+ C)....then open a text editor and paste the macros text into the text editor. Save it in the correct location on your hard drive with the name... YourMacro.setting. When you reload the macro you should see the versions. I usually edit macros this way too.. edit the macro node text and then copy/paste back and forth into the fusion area as I make changes. Hope that helps!
@@WilliamJusticeMedia Oh! That's an interesting workaround, yea, I have used visual studio to do things before. At least the steps to this are simpler than adding the drop downs. Had to spent so much time figuring that one out haha. Thanks for the tip.

Just downloaded it and, it’s great. Keep up the good work and continue to share. After playing watching your video, I decided to use a small image against the “mosaic blur” node. And it seems that It divides the inflow (incoming) image by the pixel frequency starting from left to right. So you’ll notice that the farthest rectangle to the right will get cut-off if the inflow image resolution is not divisible by the Pixel frequency. My guess is that you would have to resize the inflow image resolution to be divisible by the pixel frequency and then resize back before applying the grid. Very nice work though...Cheers :)

I finally installed the "Just Grid Transition" fusion Macro and put the workaround to the test and it seems to be working. It only needs two resize nodes surrounding the "Mosaic Blur" node. The first "resize" node neede is after the "Fast Noise". After the "Mosaic Blur" node, an additional resize node is used to resize to original image size. The Width : "FastNoise1.Output.OriginalWidth" and Height: "FastNoise1.Output.OriginalHeight". The grid being dealigned is probably because the mosaic blur is always squared and those squares don't line up with the aspect ratio of the project.

The problem is rounding
If you make a custom control slider with only integers and min of 2 and max of what ever, the line stay in place.
Connect the custom slider to the pixel frequency of the MosaicBlur and use that as the number of block slider
Edit: This solves the problem for the first line but not for the duplicate...

@@WilliamJusticeMedia I´m using DaVinci Resolve 17, I did everything thing you said, I got my videos on the timeline, but when I try to apply the transition I got a pop up asking me to buy DaVinci Resolve for 299$. I will try to do it again and I´ll take a capture to show you the pop up.
My transition is just a black screen
