My first Haruki Murakami (well kinda- my first actual Haruki Murakami work was his memoir What I Talk About When I Talk About Running.) I'll let ya know my thoughts after I listen to it all the way through- lest I have something I feel I must share in the moment.
Haruki Murokami is master of creative plagiarism, thousand Arabian nights stories told by an obsessive interuder. Haruki's tellings is more of hock rather than novel shows,picturising.Not the best of Murakami story ,one would love to discover.This illustrates shadows hidden in Japanese darker interiors.
Too bad M's most salient story is as a serial stalker, so embittered by the consequent failure to achieve her biological imperative that she must wreck the lives of others.

I'm not sure how you manage in the current culture, but I think that they did their best not to make the story gratuitous.Perhaps not relevant to your life, but such thoughts and behaviors aren't uncommon.
