Just watched this video sinced i bought my bike earlier, i thought my mechanic did wrong on my front wheel since it cant be released like the brakes are blocking the wheel, but thanks to him i totally realise you have to open that switch thing before releasing the wheel. thanks man

The only difference between a wheel fitted with a quick release on one side and one with a pair of bolts is the need for a wrench. If you have a bike without a quick release, carry an appropriate wrench or multitool with you along with your spare tube or patch kit.

Great videos on this channel. On this one, though, I suggest tightening the quick release lever so that it is parallel to the fork, for the same reasons the demonstrator described.

Except that with IDE you need to make sure the jumper on the drive is set right, that you connect the drive to the proper connector on the cable, etc.
My point was that the video just assumes that everyone will have a bike with a quick release wheel, which isn't the case.

It's a little difference depending not the brake. Some just "snap" open, others are opened by pulling the cable out of the cable stay. Disc brakes are completely different from hub brakes, and don't generally need to be disengaged or removed in order to fix a flat or swap out a tire on the wheel.

Quick release is a relatively new innovation/invention. Bicycle wheels came without a quick release for centuries. And people still got the wheels out. There are methods.

Derp. You would only show how to upgrade a SATA hard drive. IDE is exactly the same thing just with a different cable.
If you cannot connect the lines, you don't need to be removing bike tires or installing hard drives.

An easier way to get wheels off is to flip the bike over and lay the seat on the ground.

I’m enjoying the bike so far ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

Grr... "different depending on" not "difference depending not". Sorry, RUclips doesn't allow edits and I didn't catch that until after I hit the Post button.

I literally saw the space to slide in and out the wheel spokes and for some reason looked right past them thinking I had to bend something to get them off. Lord help me. 🧠 💨

  • @lurkerrekrul

Yes, but the video makes a point of telling people about the quick release like it's the only type of bike there is. It's like making a video on how to upgrade a computer's hard drive and only showing SATA connectors.
Besides, you'd be surprised how many people can't figure out how to remove a bike wheel without a quick release lever.
