  • Justin Hayward in concert on April 9, 2024, in the Stardust Theater aboard the Norwegian Pearl during the On The Blue Cruise 2024. Justin Hayward is an English musician. He was the guitarist and frontman of the rock band the Moody Blues from 1966 until that group's dissolution in 2018.
    He became the group's principal vocalist and its most prolific songwriter over the 1967-1974 period, and composed several international hit singles for the band.
    Justin Hayward performs "The Story in Your Eyes", a 1971 hit single he wrote for and sang with the Moody Blues. It was first released as a single with "My Song" on the B-side, and then on the 1971 album Every Good Boy Deserves Favour shortly after.
    The tune climbed to number 23 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

    The MB song I first noticed back in the day. Within two months, I bought all six of their albums at the time. His voice is still good.

    Wonderful to see him using the electric again.

      Yes. It would also be better if he had a drummer.

    Nice to see Karmen doing vocals, too. Adfitional guitarist allows Justin to do his electric " thing".

    This is the one song that cries out for a full band. The unplugged thing doesn't work here. And make no mistake it's one of the greatest songs in rock and roll.

      Agree. When I booked this cruise and watched videos of Justin's band, I was a little bummed out that it was not a full band. This song really rocks with a full band, as do several other MB songs.

    Who is the new guitarist back by Julie?

    • @oldwiguymusic
      @oldwiguymusic  27 дней назад

      No idea but I am assuming it is someone who just played with Justin's band during the cruise performance. There is no mention of him on Justin's website as a member of his touring band.

      @@oldwiguymusic Just saw them play last night in Sacramento. There was a third musician who joined for a few songs. I missed the name perhaps Josh Johnson?
      He plays quite a large guitar ... also, Karmen has two instruments. One is her regular flute the other is twice as long (bass flute?)

      I'm guessing it was an excellent show. I loved seeing Justin and his band. Yet, a small part of me flashes back to seeing the Moody Blues multiple times and how great those shows were at the time.

    Sometimes you just have to know when to hang up your guitar ......

      For a professional musician who has performed for decades, I am guessing that could be when they take their last breath or when literally no one shows up to see them in concert. Most will keep playing as long as fans keep going.
