For anyone who's interested, I put together a monster Spotify playlist of my favorite music that dropped in 2022. In case anyone needed extra proof that my taste in music is... a bit much.

I'd rather have tutorials than reviews. Everyone reviews the same talking points and feature set given by the companies.
Plus your musical tastes fall in line with mine, so if I can follow along to get better, I'm all for it.

That's what it's about man. My tutorials serve as diary for me too look back on just as much as inspire others. We often forget things we've learnt..

The human side will always win out in my book over any gear or methods used. I appreciate the context you shared. You are one of the few creators that have a level head and at your age, the sky it the limit for you. Enjoy every moment, pivot where needed and have as much maximum fun as possible. Thank you for being a good person in the Universe. Happy New Year!
I think your mom's plaque will best anything RUclips will send you!

As a fellow migraine sufferer, glad to hear you're finding the triggers and making them more manageable. They can really disrupt anything you're doing.

We need more real educators in the world, who actually care about people and the topics involved.... You're a great educator and the world definitely needs more of your tutorials and perspectives! Happy 2023 and thanks so much for everything you do for the community and the world at large 🥰🙏🙏🌌

Sounds like you've got a pretty solid plan! I for one am happy to have less gear reviews. I've pretty much settled on my setup now and have no intentions on spending any more money on stuff I don't need. For this year my focus is on actually making more things, instead of buying more tools while not making anything with them!
Hoping we'll still see a selection of MC-101 videos though! It's one of my 2 main bits of gear I use and I love that little thing (also your videos did a big job in convincing me that it was worth picking up).
Good to hear you've got a strong focus on sustainability in terms of your workload for the channel. If you're not enjoying it I'm sure the viewers will pick up on it and enjoy the content less.
    Here's to a great 2023!

I totally get where you're coming from with burnout and energy levels and too many things going on. I just wanna say that your videos (tutorials, reviews, song breakdowns) helped me get into making music this past year. I don't have a ton of free time to devote to it so it's just a fun thing to play around with when I have some time. But I want to thank you for that!
I hope that you pivoting your video content makes it more fun and fulfilling for you to make. I know it will be informative and engaging for whoever tunes in.

I finally bought the last piece of equipment I need for my studio. I end up watching your main channel a lot, but never subbed. I will probably still watch a video or two, but I have everything I need now. I did sub to beat goblin the moment I found it though. This is what youtube used to be. Random art with no expectations on quality. Just people sharing. It was social media.
RUclips is a mess. I would never have found this channel if it wasn't for your other channel. It makes you wonder how many other sleeper channels there are out there.

I can empathise with the migraines. I've always had what they call Classic Migraine. Which is the least common, despite its name. Incredibly painful head pain, vomiting, disturbed vision and slurred speech. Then a hangover effect afterwards which can last for over a week. Fortunately, they've become less frequent and intense as I've got older. I've just turned fifty. I think the general pattern is for migraines to get milder as you get older. Love both of your channels.

I'm 42. The first half of my life was riddled with migraines like you describe. Any light or sound or smell or sense of any type would make me feel like death. All I could do was sleep if possible and then suffer a days long hangover like you said.
I feel you there and also agree that with age they have diminished to near non existent thankfully. Hopefully they can one day figure out exactly what causes them to be so bad so people can find more relief than weve had.

Your channel introduced me to the Roland T8 & J6, which I've been recording jingles on and sharing them. You've absolutely opened the door for me to enjoy exploring hardware. DAW never did it for me, so I use a Tascam dp-03. It's been really fun to sketch out and layer ideas. Thank you for your effort

Your videos on the MC707 is one of the reasons why I got it, and now it’s a mainstay in my setup. Your videos are very informative and helpful. I don’t care for reviews, I like practical and real world applications. When you show how gear works, is more important than the review. Thanks and happy new year!

It's good to visualize and just Imagine how many busses those 50,000 subscribers would fill up if they were all coming to a concert. That's like a thousand busses, a literal traffic jam. That's quite an accomplishment!!! Every once in a while I'll get a hundred views on a post and I think... That's still a couple busloads of people. But 50,000 subscribers, that's just unreal. I think most content creators never get that far. (And we don't really hear about that, because we just see the massively successful ones usually)

I like the new direction. Loopop etc. have the detailed reviews covered so no point going there. I like to see gear being used real-world and pick up "street wisdom" from people who find ways to use gear in ways the developers never imagined.

Thanks for sharing on a personal basis here. Lots of relatable stuff here. I suffered from daily migraines and brain fog and GI issues for years but eventually figured out that it was 100% caused by wheat/gluten. Removing that from my life was a night and day difference and I just don't have that issue anymore, So... maybe consider looking into trying to find any potential food triggers...? I definitely agree that it's a good idea to work within areas that make good use of your strengths but... In my career I eventually came to learn that the key to professional growth is staying outside your comfort zone, so maybe keep that in mind...? But you're right to just do your own thing and be yourself. I think pursuing a niche is the right way to go. People will show up for the topic/material but they will keep coming back for the personality/liveliness of how you deliver it. Happy new year, and have a great 2023!

In the 90s there was a fad for stretch objectives to improve one's weaknesses. That got taken too far in some companies it seemed everyone acquired tasks that didn't take advantage of their strengths. Big mistake! It's always best to go with your strengths and find team-mates that have complementary strengths to fill the gaps.

    • @BeatGoblin
      @BeatGoblin  Год назад +1

There's definitely something to be said for stretching yourself to fill in gaps or discover potential new strengths, but since I'm already trying to do waaayyyy too much, I need to lean into the intersections of what I'm more naturally good at and what I enjoy.
