    I recently got into Marvel Champions (bought the core set, The Mad Titan's Shadow expansion, and the character packs for Venom, Magneto, Hulk, Thor, and Psylocke). I'm loving this game so much. Played the Rhino scenario using Spider-man, lost. Played again and won. I switched to Venom and tried Rhino again and won. I loved how Venom played a lot more than Spider-man. I can see myself getting addicted to this game lol.

    Love Gamora & Quicksilver!! Some of the most fun in the game. Thanks, Nelson!

    One thing that I'm gonna do when introducing a new player is to start with the precon. The strongest cards in a character's deck will be their specific cards and it'll save you time teaching someone how to pilot a specifically optimized deck

    Great video! I purchased a lot of Marvel Champions but haven’t opened anything yet. I started focusing on Marvel Legendary but want to start playing Champions, LOTR, & Arkham LCGs (everything is still sealed lol). I think it’s time to crack open Champions and I own all of your picks except Magneto so I might try playing with these heroes after I start with the two recommended core set heroes. Keep releasing content because it’s really informative and inspiring!

    Gamora was definitely the first hero I REALLY loved. It was probably like the 5th or 6th hero I played, but the first that I really stuck with for more than a couple of games because I was having so much fun.
    The one thing I will say though, it’s not always easy to remember to activate her hero ability, especially when you’re a new player and already have so much to keep in mind.

      When I was new, I can’t recall how often I forgot about Black Panther or Spider-Man abilities. I bet it was over 50% of the time though, so I can see forgetting Gamora’s response.

    I was a little surprised to hear the Quicksilver recommendation, but only because I've struggled to make progress with him. I don't have enough of a card pool to make a good protection deck with him, and have struggled to get enough allies out to thwart, attack, or be a damage sponge. I've often used too many cards in the villain phase for defense, making my player phase problematic. But I definitely agree he's fun and I'll keep trying to figure out a strategy with Quicksilver.

      Oooh oh no I love Quicksilver! Do you have a deck build that you can share?

      @@NelsonAllOverCards I think RUclips is auto deleting my attempts to comment since I was trying to insert a MarvelCDB link. I ended up changing my MarvelCDB profile name to match my RUclips handle here and only have the one deck published.
      Right now I'm trying to tweak a Protection build for Quicksilver, but finding I don't have a great pool of allies for this. Too many 3 and 4 cost allies (I only have Core, Captain America, Quicksilver, and Red Skull). I've also overdone the events in my deck. Might need to look at more Basic allies and whether different Support cards could help.
      Thanks for all the videos, man. Really appreciate your enthusiasm for the game and your efforts to offer guidance for what can work.

      @@dlounger2462 I found it! Looks like a pretty solid start! One of the things I like to do with QS in protection is use his basic activation to defend and not worry too much about the allies doing that, so I would probably look to include an Armored Vest to increase the defense! I also am Bias towards Multiple Man, for the cost you can get a ton of efficiency, especially if you can drop him turn one and get a couple of additional turns to set up with their blocks! Also as the card pool expands and you get more Avenger allies, Earth's Mightiest Heroes, is such a good card for him!
      For support cards, I am a big fan of Helicarrier from the core set
      Hope he can click with you soon!!

    I always suggest Wolverine. Very simple, thematic, and most people find him appealing to role play

  • @WinningHandPodcast
    @WinningHandPodcast 9 дней назад +1

    I’d agree with these overall, but I would say Hulk is a good place to start too. Pretty straightforward, but teaches you to pay attention to resource types, and lets you focus on smashing while learning the rest of the game (villains are a lot of upkeep and mental energy).
    I’ll give some honorable mentions to Wolverine and Ironheart, who both can be piloted reasonable straightforward and feel really thematic.

    • @NelsonAllOverCards

      Oh I love that Hulk shout! I never thought of it like that!

    • @FBracht
      @FBracht 8 дней назад

      @@WinningHandPodcast I can see how Hulk “becomes fun” for experienced players, but for newbies? I’d say stay away. None of his possible upsides compare to his very concrete downsides. Pretty much the only way you win with Hulk is by getting lucky draws for 4 rounds in a row. At that point, was it even you who won?

    • @DraxWithASax
      @DraxWithASax 8 дней назад

      @@FBracht I think the caveat for Hulk is multiplayer. If you are teaching the game, Hulk is a very simple hero that can do big damage which is satisfying to new players. Then the seasoned player(s) can shore up his weaknesses and even help him out a bit with supports like Helicarrier or Avengers Mansion. He's not the best option, but he'll also give new players straightforward turns if this particular person is newer to games in general or succumbs to analysis paralysis

    Hey, Nelson! Merry Christmas!
    One question here. I have everything since Core Set until Sinister Motives wave (because I'm fan of MCU's Infinity Saga). Is Agents of Shield expansion box compatible with my collection?

    As someone who got into the game really recently, I would disagree on Magneto. It felt like peecon deck involves a lot of minion sacrifice and the whole thing just built to slowly unless you know exactly what you are doing.
    I would put Nightcrawler in Magneto's place. He gives a lot of interesting choices while still being very simple and easy to pick up. He was actually the character I learned to play the game with.
    With Bamf he forgives you for your mistakes because you get basically free defence each turn so imo gets rid of a lot of the worrying about if you thwart/attack how much damage will you take and just basically gives you a chance to learn all the parts of the game without worrying about dying. Imo Nightcrawler is basically the game with training wheels while also being one of the most enjoyable heroes.

    • @NelsonAllOverCards
      @NelsonAllOverCards  9 дней назад +1

      Interesting! I struggled making Nightcrawler work, but I bet it would be more beginner friendly with more players at the table!
      Totally get it with Mags!

      @NelsonAllOverCards I find that interesting because for me he clicked immediately. I've only ever played the game solo and except from a couple of games v Rhino as Spidey, I've learned to play the game using Nightcrawler. Just everything about his kit completely clicked and made sense.
