My denim tabby 20 has the same issue with the strap! I kept mine because the rest of the bag was perfect. In the end, I tucked the weird strap part on the inside of the bag and I forgot about it tbh. Also, I didn’t like the blue denim in the 26 so I got the black denim in the larger size. It’s perfect!!
You can clip the chain to itself on the inside using a butterfly clip, to create a top handle and longer shoulder strap. Depending on how petite you are it may work as a crossbody with a top handle too.
No not nitpicking I would send it back! The bag is still $400 and that’s not ok. Any bag over $50 imo should be better quality than let’s say a Forever 21 bag
send the bag back. I'm not sure what's happening with the quilted tabbys but there's been more defect with the new ones. Maybe Coach can't keep up with the demand? I'm not so sure. I got the light yellow one, and that one is fine but when I got my quilted tabby 20 black with gold hardware...so many issues. The first one I got came with uneven flaps (literally the left side was shorter?????), creasing by the c buckle, and quilts were flat at one side??? I went to a flagship store and asked to see...they showed me 4 other ones...and only one was actually constructed well. I realized that if I wanted a quilted tabby (would like one more for fall/winter), I would need to go to a flagship store, ask then to take out at least 3, and I pick from there

Send them both back, you'll end up regretting keeping them later. I had the denim tabby from last year and also noticed a defect with the strap where the two pieces of leather meet, the stitching was also wonky, I ended up sending it back and keeping my pillow madison, which I regret because of the capacity issues. Wish Coach would remove the front pocket and just have a large open compartment instead.
Yes return the 20 - it’s definitely sticking out like a sore thumb on the chain strap.

This happens to classic flaps too when there’s too much inside. It’s not a flaw with the large bag.

The first one the chain is wack definitely. The bottom looked fine. Take out the stuffing.
