  • No kitchen would be complete without a healthy supply of cooking oil. Did you know this oil first started in a field?
On the PULSE joined Susquehanna Mills, of Muncy, Pa., to find out how to turn a Sunflower seed into cooking oil.
This is the second episode in our six-part series to find out how local businesses do what they do.
Thanks to the Covation Center for sponsoring this series!

Just asked Chat GPT: Turns out they skip over all the harmful toxic processes.
Crushing: The cleaned sunflower seeds are crushed to obtain a crude oil mixture.
Extraction: The crude oil mixture is then subjected to a solvent extraction process to separate the oil from the seed residues. The most commonly used solvent in sunflower oil production is hexane.
Degumming: The extracted oil is then subjected to a degumming process to remove any impurities and unwanted substances, such as phospholipids.
Neutralization: The degummed oil is then neutralized with an alkali solution to remove any free fatty acids present in the oil.
Bleaching: The neutralized oil is then bleached to remove any remaining impurities and unwanted substances, such as pigments and odors.
Deodorization: The bleached oil is then deodorized to remove any remaining odors and flavors.
Refining: The deodorized oil is then refined to improve its quality and stability. This can involve processes such as winterization, which removes any waxes, and dewaxing, which removes any remaining impurities.

thank you for these specific processes
      but .....
except for the only mention of hexane , ...... where can one find the exact processing , viz the other chemicals used , the temperatures applied etc etc etc ....
it seems a military secret .....
not a single COMPLETE video to be seen about it

chatGPT isn't a reliable source for any factual information at all. do whatever additional research you want, but don't take the word of a machine that spits out words that are kind of related to each other

@@hawks9142 your immune system goes out to war when you consume veg oils. You know that heavy feeling after eating? Thats your immune systtem fighting against trans fats. No such feelings in my world. All I can say is 53% of US citizens are obese because of that crap and they honestly totally deserve it, natural selection. How dumb you actually have to be to put bleach on your food? And yeah I totally look down on people not caring about what they eat. Ghee is the answer. Its funny when people look at me like i'm the crazy guy for being harsh about not eating pure poison. :D Ghee! Ghee is the answer! This word alone can change anyone's life who uses bleach rather than GHEE! Oh and yeah using ghee rather than bleach is a little more expensive. Honestly I'm trying so hard to express how mad I am at people for eating poison non-stop. All I see in stores are packaged poisons and poison eaters are to blame. And dont wait for your health to fail to take action lol. Just look at how damn fat Americans are. Disgusting and pathetic.

I was never fat while eating bleach food too, but I mean once you try to totally quit bleach oils for 2 days you realize what you've been doing to your body. Eating is amazing, always full of energy, never tired after eating(that only happens because bleach oil is made up of trans fats which cause your immune system to go into full power mode). And it's totally bleach, no need to sugar coat it. Self-respecting people don't consume bleach. Quit that crap. You are what you eat. You are what you eat.

The machinery gets gummed up where it extracts the crude oil, but I guess those impurities are filtered out down the line?

I worked in a seed oil refinery for 22 years. We got the crude oil from other places . The refining they did not show involves boiling hot water, phosphoric acid , caustic soda ( drain cleaner ) , bleaching earth ( clay ) , all at very high temperatures, filtering, and deodorising under vacuum at up to 300 deg centigrade (570 Fahrenheit) . EVERYTHING GOOD IN THE OIL IS NOW AS DEAD AS A DOOR NAIL . THE OIL CAN NOW BE USED FOR MAKING PAINT OR PLASTIC …. OR MARGARINE OR COOKING OIL …I would not touch that stuff …it is poison in the body . I use only animal fat.
