PewDiePie isn't really that relevant since he is only getting under 1/4 of mrbeasts views per month despite his larger sub count. He also has gained less than 1 mil subs in the past several months compared to mrbeasts over 2 mil per month
One thing I wish you mentioned . You mentioned Ray having a fast paced style. The reason for that wasn't an artistic decision. Back then RUclips limited Videos to like 10 or 15. As a result alot of youtubers would speed up their video with jump cuts or just fast talking and digital speed ups.
Ray is one of those people I honestly don’t have it in me to really form an opinion on. I have a lot of nostalgia for early RUclips, but I never actually watched =3. I knew Ray was the most popular RUclipsr at the time, and that was that. Even after watching multiple videos about him and his history, in my head he just kind of defaults to being a background character.
As someone who loves watching these style videos while playing games, I really appreciate the consistent volume. Such a small thing but it is so important. Thank you
I do the same thing! I also appreciate the consistent volume. A lot of the shows I listen to, either start out with the volume too low, or too high. So, you adjust your volume accordingly. Then suddenly, you crap your pants, because the volume was suddenly way too loud .
Back when "Doin your mom" came out. I was in middle school. On my old cellphone (a scoop, you know the one.) you could put signatures at the end of your texts. Naturally, mine was "Doin Thy Mother" I forgot that I had that as my signature and my grandmother got a cellphone for the first time. ... I texted her and Naturally, that signature appeared. Grandmama was not happy and neither was my mother or father. Well, long story short. It made me a serial mom do'er. Thanks Ray.

The one thing I miss about old RUclips was the newest videos tab. Literally anybody who uploaded a video it would pop up on newest videos tab basically the last 20 or so videos that got uploaded. I really do think that helped a lot of people establishing a audience because it would be like just checking out what's new. You would click a video and you'd be the first view on a channel with like three subscribers and it was a little boost to help newer content creators.

Ray graduated from the high school I attended, it was really cool to see his Senior yearbook photo up on the schools wall. Sadly this was after his RUclips prime, so it wasn’t recognized much by other students.

For me, Ray was like an embodiment of RUclips itself at that time, showing off it's own content and trying to grow and have potential to call the attention of other medias, which YT eventually did. Nowadays YT is... what it is.
Well Ray has done something I have never seen on RUclips before which is he somehow revived an entirely dead channel that was bleeding subscribers. His channel was down to about 9.5 million subs when I last checked and now it's up to 12.3. I have never seen something like that happen before.
Who's watching these videos? I never see them anywhere, I never hear anyone even mentioning them anywhere, and I see no real presence of Ray in any platform.

A bit unrelated, but he banned the term "zztails" from his comments section after I started the #bringbackdoinyourmom thing. This was in 2018. A few months ago, I followed him on another account of mine because my original page was long gone and I actually enjoyed a few of his newer posts. He immediately blocked me. I didn't even comment or anything I literally just followed him and liked a few of his posts and he blocked me within like 2 minutes. So an entire three years after the meme, he somehow remembered who I was and blocked me. The term zztails is still banned from his RUclips comments to this day as well LOL

My old followers on IG used to comment my username and #BringBackDoinYourMom on all his shit because he deleted the original upload of "Doin Your Mom" on it's anniversary. So he blacklisted the term zztails. It wasn't cool that they all spammed it and I'd understand why he didn't want all the spam especially on Instagram, but it was pretty harmless looking back on it. I don't hate him or anything, if anything I respect him and am happy to see him succeeding once again on RUclips Shorts, just a meme from years ago. Still confused as to why he still blocks any Instagram accounts I make even to this day. Even personal spam pages that don't use the "zztails" username get immediately blocked. He must have some kind of bot that autoblocks any account associated with me, which is understandable because people even to this day still share around the #BringBackDoinYourMom image despite the fact that the original upload was relisted some time ago.

You mentioned something about him having contracts and that none of his songs he might not directly own himself. My theory is that Ray William Johnson, can't do anything to help refute those claims or comment on them due to his old contracts still applying to him. Because if a music band released an album under a publisher and through other connections, the band members themselves individually can't really refute their publishers or so on making legal actions on their old songs, which they technically don't fully own. So am not sure trying to make demands towards Ray William Johnson will really help the situation at all, especially if he's tied by old contracts, and that he no longers owns that old content that he made.
Fact of matter is, it might be the case that Ray has given full rights to the publisher with his songs through contracts, which alot of songwriters, musicians, etc. Need to have some type of publisher to do royalties and so on. And since Ray was starting out, the publishing company might've offered him the full ownership to them deal, in-exchange for giving him resources to help grow. Now Ray might be able to put 'his' own song onto his own RUclips channel, I've seen few bands do that, however the publishing company can still retain full rights of the song and copystrike anything they can take advantage of. Aggressively going after Ray, that he most likely knows about the situation or chooses not to dwell into, since due to the contractual obligation to his publishing company, is just really trying to shout against a wall and is not really doing both parties any favors. It might be likely that Maker Studios, which is part of Disney, etc. Might be involved in this, considering how aggressive they are with copyright. And that they still own those old songs, or at least have the rights to fight and claim revenue from those rights.

I got blocked way back in like 2010 where he made fun of a viral video where a deer got hurt by something. It got a lot of dislikes and he changed the title to "TROLL ME AND THUMBS DOWN!! :D " , even though there was no mention of dislikes in the video. I simply wrote out a question asking if he was trying to mask the real dislikes because people didnt like to see a deer get hurt and I got blocked INSTANTLY lmao. In fairness, PewDiePie was still around in the RWJ era, but yeah, the RUclips landscape kids/teens are growing up with now is very different to 10-15 years ago. A lot of people gave up on =3 when Ray left but i stg the show actually got a lot better when he introduced Robby as the first replacement host. That dude killed it in the brief time he was hosting the show.

The sadest part of all is what his channel turned into after he burned =3 and had nothing. He just leaned into shorts and it worked well when Shorts were artificially boosted in the algo and most of them had millions of views. Now they barely break a few hundred thousand, on average. For a channel with 17 millions subscribers, most of them just stopped watching. Sad but deserved.

The one thing I miss about old RUclips was the newest videos tab. Literally anybody who uploaded a video it would pop up on newest videos tab basically the last 20 or so videos that got uploaded. I really do think that helped a lot of people establishing a audience because it would be like just checking out what's new. You would click a video and you'd be the first view on a channel with like three subscribers and it was a little boost to help newer content creators.
Well, seeing as nowadays, RUclips uploads about 5 million/billion (I forget which) per *minute*, I don't think that's possible anymore, unfortunately. There's just too much topic

For me, Ray was like an embodiment of RUclips itself at that time, showing off it's own content and trying to grow and have potential to call the attention of other medias, which YT eventually did. Nowadays YT is... what it is.
Well Ray has done something I have never seen on RUclips before which is he somehow revived an entirely dead channel that was bleeding subscribers. His channel was down to about 9.5 million subs when I last checked and now it's up to 12.3. I have never seen something like that happen before.

A bit unrelated, but he banned the term "zztails" from his comments section after I started the #bringbackdoinyourmom thing. This was in 2018. A few months ago, I followed him on another account of mine because my original page was long gone and I actually enjoyed a few of his newer posts. He immediately blocked me. I didn't even comment or anything I literally just followed him and liked a few of his posts and he blocked me within like 2 minutes. So an entire three years after the meme, he somehow remembered who I was and blocked me. The term zztails is still banned from his RUclips comments to this day as well LOL

My old followers on IG used to comment my username and #BringBackDoinYourMom on all his shit because he deleted the original upload of "Doin Your Mom" on it's anniversary. So he blacklisted the term zztails. It wasn't cool that they all spammed it and I'd understand why he didn't want all the spam especially on Instagram, but it was pretty harmless looking back on it. I don't hate him or anything, if anything I respect him and am happy to see him succeeding once again on RUclips Shorts, just a meme from years ago. Still confused as to why he still blocks any Instagram accounts I make even to this day. Even personal spam pages that don't use the "zztails" username get immediately blocked. He must have some kind of bot that autoblocks any account associated with me, which is understandable because people even to this day still share around the #BringBackDoinYourMom image despite the fact that the original upload was relisted some time ago.

You mentioned something about him having contracts and that none of his songs he might not directly own himself. My theory is that Ray William Johnson, can't do anything to help refute those claims or comment on them due to his old contracts still applying to him.
Because if a music band released an album under a publisher and through other connections, the band members themselves individually can't really refute their publishers or so on making legal actions on their old songs, which they technically don't fully own.
So am not sure trying to make demands towards Ray William Johnson will really help the situation at all, especially if he's tied by old contracts, and that he no longers owns that old content that he made.
Fact of matter is, it might be the case that Ray has given full rights to the publisher with his songs through contracts, which alot of songwriters, musicians, etc. Need to have some type of publisher to do royalties and so on.
And since Ray was starting out, the publishing company might've offered him the full ownership to them deal, in-exchange for giving him resources to help grow.
Now Ray might be able to put 'his' own song onto his own RUclips channel, I've seen few bands do that, however the publishing company can still retain full rights of the song and copystrike anything they can take advantage of.
Aggressively going after Ray, that he most likely knows about the situation or chooses not to dwell into, since due to the contractual obligation to his publishing company, is just really trying to shout against a wall and is not really doing both parties any favors.
It might be likely that Maker Studios, which is part of Disney, etc. Might be involved in this, considering how aggressive they are with copyright. And that they still own those old songs, or at least have the rights to fight and claim revenue from those rights.

The sadest part of all is what his channel turned into after he burned =3 and had nothing. He just leaned into shorts and it worked well when Shorts were artificially boosted in the algo and most of them had millions of views. Now they barely break a few hundred thousand, on average. For a channel with 17 millions subscribers, most of them just stopped watching. Sad but deserved.
