Cocaine - Eric Clapton (Cover)

- Another JJ Cale song in Clapton's repertoire. For the solo, Eric is probably using some kind of overdrive pedal which he called 'a fangle thing I've discovered in America and it's hip'. I hope you'll like it! If you want the tabs to this song, email me at kamil.stachowski@hotmail.com
This song is so much harder to play than it sounds on the radio. Clapton was so smooth in each note and transition that it’s hard to replicate. You killed it.
Thanks a lot!
It's a few chords, relax.
It's a smooth record indeed but it's not that hard. I'm sure you find it easier to play now that it's been 2 years since you commented that.
@@prathameshbhamburelol fax
@@Motownisyourtown He isn't talking chords wise. He's talking its hard to make it sound as good as Clapton did in this
Best cover of this song on RUclips. Great as always!!
+Chase Rhoton Thank you!
@@ColinStachowski
How much did you pay for that guitar
1700 PLN, back in 2015.
Boy... i was raised by Clapton... watching a guy (same age like me") playin brilliantly Clapton's songs... you re amazing mate! Thank u ! Wish we could hang out somehow ! #claptonisgod
Thank you!
is life not so random that it was Clapton that covered this and restarted JJ's music carear again, JJ said he was in a small apt somewhere broke when his gf heard this on USA radio and the worm came full circle
Wasn't it 'After Midnight' a not 'Cocaine'?
@@ColinStachowski you are correct my bad, cheers , love that JJ C song too, there is a great cross roads vid of Eric playing After Midnight with JJ. RIP to JJ Cale a legend that inspired so many
You definitely killed it including Eric's middle finger style!😂👌
Hah, thanks!
It's amazing you capture his sound so well. From the amp, to the guitar, all the way to your fingers.. youve studied Clapton very well.. I'm very impressed!
Glad you like it!
Best cover on youtube for this song in my opinion
Thanks!
Absolutely, by far.
I believe that the feel is much more important than technique... but man you have both! Beautiful playing! Thanks :)
Thanks a lot!
I'm a french huge fan of Eric Clapton and I'm so happy to know your channel which is the perfect place to watch and listen all his songs ! I really hope you will keep doing it and wish you a nice continuation ! (Sorry for my english I learn it since 2 years..)

+Kauchi - Hot Picker Thanks! Actually I did not 'picked' this one. It's just next one on the line. Cheers!
Very nice solo ..same Eric Clapton the sound and tone...amazing God bless you guys..

Wow - your guitar playing and sound are fantastic. Thanks Lou

You Nailed it Perfect Tone and Vibrato Well Executed Perfectly I just purchased a new Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster & the play along Guitar book when Eric was in Cream So excited about my Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster Thanks for this Awesome INFORMATIVE video I'm Sure Convinced that I made the right decision to get the Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster Love all your Cover Songs
Thanks!
An awesome cover of a awesome song. Great job, man!
+TheMaicn Thanks!
Hey Colin .. I was listening to an original Mono recording of the Beano Bluesbreakers album last night .. back when Eric caused a lot of fuss & started a whole new trend when he insisted he would only play on the album if he could play like he did live thru his usual gear & at full volume .. which was just not done back then when Sound engineers were more important than musicians .. if you haven't listened to it for a while give yourself a treat for the holidays season & turn it up from the first notes of All your Love .. Eric's tone just amazing .. If you see this Happy holidays & keep on playing .
Thanks, I will!
Ohh you're amazing!!!! I love so much all your covers❤️❤️
Thank you Matii!
You are the best playing songs of Clapton!!!
Thanks a lot!
Great video man! I love this song and you rocked it
Thanks!
Terrific version Kamil, really enjoyed it, you definitely have that certain Clapton style/sound, great stuff
Thank you so much! I hope I do it justice!
Beautiful cover man🤘🏻

Good job Colin Stachowski......nice work.
Thanks a lot!
Great job, you nail the tone and the feel, awesome, as they always are.
+glassslide Thank you for your constant support! Really appreciated!
Damn couldnt tell if it was the record or you playing this lol great job
Thank you!
Man this is awesome! Always wondered, how to get the track to play in the background while you play over it? Sounds awesome
Thanks a lot! It's just the original track. I try to play the same just a bit louder. I use Ableton for mixing.
Very nice... tone and everything!
Thanks!
this really encouraged me to learn more Clapton songs, thank you ;)
Thank you for such nice comment. Out of curiosity, I must ask: how did it encourage you to learn more Clapton's?
i actually started playing the guitar because of him, but most of his stuff was way too difficult
as i saw your videos i thought something in the lines of "i could do that if i really tried"
so it was a little like an eye opener or a motivation, that it might be about time to give it another shot
also i now learned old love and layla in the two versions, so i guess thats a good signe :D another lesson i got from this and the "slowand at 70"-dvd is that a great deal of the magic really lies in the rhythm playing
i hope that was a satisfying answer :)
Sure, great to know that! Thanks!
Very nice tone, enjoyed , well played
Thanks!
Excellent playing
Thanks Don!
Hi Colin forgot to say I've got a Eric Clapton crash one guitar it's lovely wish I could play it like you m8 thanks for the videos
Lucky you!
Good Job Dude!!!!! Thanks for posting!
Thanks!
Kamil, damn good recording the angles and switch from lead to rhythm are excellent. I really dig this tune, I was like 12 when it first came out, living in the bloody red sun of fantastic L.A. Rock on!!!
Thank you! Good old times, huh? I wish I was in LA at the times...
Excellent thanks
another perfect cover Colin! I don't think Eric used overdrive because he never used them. Probably small fender with all the volume up.
Glad you like it and thanks for your insight!
Brilliantly done ✅
Thanks!
Yes agree great job
Thanks, I appreciate that!
very good!!!!!
@@tecnoline57 Thanks!
Nice playing and great tone
Thanks!
perfect play! awesome
Thanks!
Amazing as always, Colin, i have a question, what string gauge do you use?
+rollingstone203 Thank you! I am using Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 10-46 strings. It was recorded right after I put on a new set so hence the fresh and twangy sound on this cover.
love the thumb style, I also do it. got it from noel who got it from eric
Very nice. Thanks.
Thanks!
Clean !!!
Thanks!
My dad’s friend John McGale played this song in a band Cocaine is at 6:30 in the video

John is the one with the long hair
Great play!
Thanks!
Love your covers.
Can you do Ride the River-Clapton/Cale?
When I got there, I will probably do it. Now I'm in 1981.
Sick see song. Great cover!
Thanks!
Thanks mate
Very well played ☺️☺️
Thanks Abhishek!

You are the man!
+mblimmina Thanks!
very very good friend
Thank you very very much!
Really good dude!!!
Thanks!
Hi brother, can you tell me how you're recording your guitar covers, I mean sound with video
The video is from iPhone 6 and audio from Amplitube 4 in Ableton. All matched together in Adobe. Cheers!
@@ColinStachowski thanks man, keep rock on!
Well done! 👏🏻✌🏻️
+Jerrod Norton Thanks!
Perfecto!!!
Thanks a lot!
best cover ever like same
Thanks!
you are the best!!
+Randall EMG60 Thank you! It's all for you people :)
So beautiful :) Kudos and thanks Colin.
Thanks Istemihan!
Beautiful as always. Also, what kind of Strat is that? AVRI?
+Jacob McKinney Thank you, it's a Fender Classic Series 50s Stratocaster (made in Mexico).
Magnificent Cover! One of my all time favorite Clapton songs. Are you playing a 50's series Strat? I like that tone a lot and I'd like to purchase a similar guitar the next time. Anyways great job man!!
Thank you Jens. Yes, it's 50s Strat.
Bad ass🤙
Thanks Nick!
Cool.
Thanks!
Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hey Colin what amp and overdrive pedal ya using sounds great!!!!!!
I’ve played that through Amplitube 3 (with a bassman copy with presence on max), fresh strings and Boss OD-3 for solos.
Hell yeah, Eric has a few years on you, good though
Thanks!
I’m your fan from Thailand
So have any chance to get lesson with you ?
I really love EC song
Just want to be play like you
Thank you
Thank you! Sorry, I'll never do lessons.
Hi, what kind of amp do you use in here? Love your videos (:
Thanks! Amplitube 3.
Noice!! Are you a pro musician, or is it a hobby?
Only and always a hobby!
What kind of strings did you use in this video? Is its 008/042?
These were really fresh Ernie Balls Regular Slinky 10-46.
How do you play the music but leave out the guitar parts that you would be playing?
I don't do anything to the original track. I just try to play as close to what Eric was doing as possible. That hopefully creates the ilusion that the original part is not there... but it is, it's just covered by mine (a louder one).
@@ColinStachowski oh cool
Like
Thanks!
Un poco mas cerca la Camara del diapazon, esta exelente la rola.
Colin Stachowski is God! 😝
You're too kind! Thanks!
Don't get me wrong..I know your channel and I think you're really good at the Clapton style..
But ..hmm isn't he playing "leads" between the chords?
Not on the recording, I don't think so.
I got flipped off in the beginning by this dude
nice sean
Henry Zhai it's kinda true but I guess that's just how guitar works idk
Can't do nothing about man, sorry! Cheers!
Yeah I learned power chords, excellent cover!
Also this is exactly how your supposed to play power chords, well done.
Right? Fuck this guy
i have the same guitar
Me too!
How did you get this tone?
Amplitube 3 with Boss OD3 for solo.
I'm going to email you for tabs if you don't mind. I know the effects and tone and all for this song. I just want a tab
+Clemson Tiger fan Sure, send me a message!
ColinStachowski thanks for tab man!
I also play the power chords with my middle finger pointed at the audience 😂
That's the best technique!
now I want a line....
Don't do it.
Malmsteen you can play ????
No.
Que pedales usas ?
For this one: Boss Overdrive.
What kind of amp and pedals are you using?
+Chase Rhoton I am using a digital version of Fender amp (probably Bassman) which sounds a lot like Eric's Music Man at the times, I think. For the soolo I am boosting my signal with Boss OD3.
+ColinStachowski Thank you. And I'm sorry with all the messages I'm just really interested with interested in your style and tone!
+Chase Rhoton No problem at all! I can send you some screenshots from Amplitube so you can check how I have set my amp up.
+ColinStachowski You don't have to do that. I don't have amplitude anyway so I probably wouldn't understand it. I'm just trying to get a fender super champ and an ibanez Tubescreamer pedal to sound like slowhand paired with a modern player tele.
+Chase Rhoton Sure. That OD3 from Boss is nice if you want to boost your tone. Quite like his active circuit in EC Fender models.
tab please.
See the description please.
Em ?
I would say, E major. Thanks!
I see you own a blackie AND a brownie! )
Hopefully a Cherry Red, Beano and The Fool (but not painted) one day as well.
even the middle finger sticking out like EC
Just something that came to me naturally while playing his songs, can't change it now, hah!
What is that chord called?
😂💯👈🍻🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
1:22
Yes, that's when the solo starts. Cheers!
i though Eric is Playing on it......
Why wouldn't he?
@@ColinStachowski bc the sound is like clapton so first i tink its like the original song of Clapton but its not.......
its cover of u great job
@@musicilham Hah, thanks!
o parmağı indir
According to Google translate you wrote: 'download that finger' - but I know what you mean, hah!
..ok nice ..but clapton plays the rhytm different ..not only the chords strumming ..
Thanks for the insight!
