मध्य कालीन युग के दक्षिण भारत के कर्नाटक की कला कौशल एवं स्मरणीय इतिहास की मिसाल रही है तथा विजय नगर के सम्राट श्री कृष्ण देवराय द्वारा निर्मित मंदिर हंपी की विशेष कथा है । श्रीकृष्ण देवराय एक समृद्धशाली और शक्तिशाली सम्राट थे । चार वंश के शासकों में तुर वंश के शासक श्रीकृष्ण देव राय ने हंपी का मंदिर जिसके प्रांगण में एक रथ हू बहु ऐसा ही बनवाया जो कि श्री विष्णु जी का वाहन होता था तथा इस की शिलाएं वाद्ययंत्रों की ध्वनि प्रस्तुत करती हैं एक अजूबा होता था । अंग्रेजी साम्राज्य ने उसकी शिला को ध्वस्त करवा कर देखा तो एक ठोस पत्थर मिला । जोकि एक अजूबे से कम नहीं था । अतः यह एक ऐसा अजूबा जिसको संसार के अजूबों में शामिल कर लेना चाहिए । श्री कृष्ण देवराय की एक मंत्री परिषद थी जो सारे राज काज को सम्भाल थी थी । 1538 में हजारा नाथ का मंदिर तथा 1570 विरूपोक्ष मंदिर तत्कालीन सम्राटों ने बनवाए । जिस में गणेश जी की प्रतिमा विराजमान थी और शिव शंकर जी पूजा होती रहती थी । वहां निवासी कहते हैं श्री राम जी यहां सदैव व्यापक होते हैं क्योंकि श्री राम जी ने 14 साल का बनवास इन्ही जंगलों और तुंगभद्रा नदी के किनारे व्यतीत किया है, इस का जिक्र पुराणों में भी मिलता है । आप द्वारा वर्णित यह डाकूमैंट्री बहुत ही उत्कृष्ट श्रेणी की है । ऐसे डोकुमैंट्री भारत के प्राचीन इतिहास का बोध करवाती हैं । पेश की गई डाकुमैंट्री को बहुत उत्तम ढंग से प्रस्तुत किया गया है । यह बोध करवाती है कि कर्नाटक के जंगलों में ही श्री राम ने अपना बनवास व्यतीत किया था । किसकंधा के जंगल जिस पर हनुमान के पिता श्री केसरी यहां के सम्राट होते थे, भी यहां विराजमान हैं । इस प्रस्तुति के लिए आप को हार्दिक मंगलकामनाएं प्रकट करता हूं । मैंने कुछ ज्यादा ही लिख दिया एडिड नहीं कर सका । धन्यवाद सहित

Here's a prelude to Vijayanagara - Mohammed bin Tughluq's own cousin Gurshasp started a rebellion against him. So Tughluq ordered his governor Malik Zada to fight against the rebel. During the battle, Gurshasp's chief lieutenant deserted him and joined Malik Zada. Gurshasp escaped and took refuge with his friend, the king of Kampili, Deva Raya. Kampili was a tiny kingdom, ranging over a few districts in today's Karnataka. Now it found itself standing alone against the mighty Tughluq Sultanate. Kampili Deva Raya had given his word that he would protect Gurshasp, even at the cost of his own life. The war between the kingdom of Kampili and the Tughlaq empire lasted over a year (1327-28), during which Tughluq attacked thrice. The first two were successfully repulsed. However, in the third, the sultanate army broke through the defences of Kampili, surrounding the outnumbered warriors in the fortress of Anegundi. Deva Raya knew that defeat was now certain, and was well aware of the horrific tortures by Tughluq army. He smuggled Gurshasp safely to Hoysala capital Dwarasamudra, and himself retreated to another fortress. Here, he gathered 5000 of his best men and informed them of his decision to fight till death. They lit a funeral pyre, into which all the warriors' wives and children jumped. Finally the fortress gates were opened and the warriors ran out into the waiting enemy, fighting till their last breath. Deva Raya was beheaded, his head was stuffed with straw and sent to Delhi, along with five young princes - the Sangama brothers, alive as hostages and were converted to Islam. These princes escaped back to the South. Out of these five, two were Harihara and Bukka. Within the next 8 years were laid the foundation for what was to become Vijayanagara, under the guidance of Sri Vidyaranya of Sringeri Sharada Peetham. From the ashes of Kampili rose the greatest and most prosperous Hindu empire in the world, Vijayanagara (Karnata empire). Anegundi became the place where future emperors of Vijayanagara were buried.
They belong to " KURUBA (shepherd) "caste. Hakka and Bukka were the first kings of the Vijayanagar Empire. Their real names were Harihara and Bukkaraya. Kuruba (also known as Kuruba Gowda, Kuruma and Kurumbar) is a Hindu caste whose traditional occupation was that of shepherding and farming. The community hails from Karnataka in India. They are known by different names such as Dhangar, Hatkar and Telwar Lingayat in Maharashtra.
