If you drop a 24fps video on a 30fps timeline, you get duplicate frames, not dropped frames. You can get rid of them using FFMPEG decimate. You can then use FlowFrames to interpolate more frames into your video, so it's smooth.

I've been using several different SD cards for the Avata and it most certainly does skip on footage with slower SD card.

Just bought the Mavic Air 2 & all of a sudden after a week all of my video footage was coming out choppy, so I went inside the DJI Fly app & reset the camera settings and it fixed the problem, no more choppy video, thanks for the Video!

I bought a DJI Phantom 10+ years ago (the DJI Phantom 1), later bought a GoPro camera for it. I was'nt aware of SD card speeds back then, and the GoPro camera actually skipped frames during recording, so you are not all wrong :) When reviewing the footage it was smooth in the beginning, then suddently only black frames but sound continues. Now and then the picture went back for a brief period, then gone black again. A new and faster SD card solved the issue :)

H265 compression is obviously what I get problem’s with on my laptop. Thanks for pointing that out, I knew it wasn’t the card as I have a very high transfer rated card. It’s an extreme card. It usually only happens as I first run the video, as the computer is is adjusting to the high compression, but then it handles it alright. Now if only I can get my low resolution video files back in my DJI AVATA, they seem to have disappeared after I reset the video after I’d made a mistake in the video settings and was getting horrible footage. The low resolution video footage is so much easier to post than the high resolution( which I always save on my external hard drive).

My shutter is locked at 1/60 for 30 FPS 5.4K and the footage is still choppy on the Air 2S using a SanDisk Ultra and the footage it outputs is not at a continuous 30 FPS and splits every 3.76Gb. I have no issues with the faster SanDisk Extreme and Extrem Pro Cards. The Ultra is a V10 and the drone doesn’t stop recording and there’s no warning of a slow SD card so it seems V10 is still within limit of what the drone perceives as fast enough.

how about recording at 60fps? That surely should be better. On the Mavic 3 Mini Pro I discovered 2 issues that cause the choppy footage -
1x video cache to device - very common,
2= surprisingly enough, the latest update apparently adds lots of extra info into the subtitles that it produces (I didn't own drone prior to this last update). But what I discovered is that yes - turn of subs on pc = smooth frames, but even smoother frames if you don't record subtitles to start with.
then still not sure but 4k at 60fps still not as smooth as 1080p at 60fps on same pc watching it as it came out of the camera.
I have problem with my drone, the built in drone SD card holder works fine for first 30 seconds but then it also plays back the video again in a glitchy way with two images showing at once, starts playing the footage again with present footage at same time, I can't understand it. Help
When editing in premiere pro, I always use ''new sequence from clip'', and that ensures that my footage is on the correct timelime. Thanks for all the info.

Your computer need to support h.265
Actually M2P runs (4k D-Cinelike..) perfectly with larger (I use 256gb) Sandisk U1 cards, just App notification, that it can be slow will be displayed.
Sandisk U1 actual Read / Write speed is well above 50 Mbit/sec (recommended is 30 Mbit/sec). U1 can be 1/2 cost of U3.

I'm new to your channel and i subscribed because i could see your love for droning and you have a lot of knowledge i'm traveltech360 on you-tube and my self and i have a droning partner Al Duran he is Duranafy on RUclips hes a big drone guy i'm just starting the droning part of my channel but i'm seeing a lot of things i like on your channel. Here's a question for you. I fly Mavic Air 2 and use prism to stream to Facebook but it wont let me stream to RUclips. My friend AL is flying the Mavic Pro 2 and his controller wont stream to RUclips also. It ask us both to login to the source and says we don't have channels with out google accounts that are connected to You-tube and then we see in RUclips it has a different email address for us both that is a google pages email address i have seen many people having this issue trying to stream to RUclips. Any advice or can you make a video to help people with this issue? There on no videos on RUclips showing how to fix this issue. Thanks Robby
I use a mavic mini . It doesn’t record videos and sent it to the phone in high res . It used to sent in the beginning. What should i do?
V10 card skips several frames and V30 doesn't on my mavic pro. Is there a reason for that if they are supposed to work right or not work at all. I'm finding this really hard to believe. I will do more testing when the weather gets better I thought I had the problem fixed but when putting the V10 back in it does the frame dropping and jumps several frames at a time when moving fast. V30 out of my mini 2 works perfectly and has never skipped with correct frame rates.

Some of my 4k footage actually are missing up to a second of footage sometimes. It is supposed to be recorded @24 fps but metadata says it is recorded at 17.62. My 265. footage from my footage looks brilliant so the compression shouldn't be the issue in this case.

I have also new mini 3 pro and noticed some strange FPS drop (frame freeze). My sdxc card standard is V30 U3, A2...tested the sd and minimum write speed was 39MB/s, a lot above the 4k60 bitrate which is something around 19MB/s. It is difficult to diagnose.

Im glad I saw your video. I just ordered an Osmo pocket with the extension pack that includes an Grade 1 SD card. Despite the card is in the DJI recommended card list I was worried it wouldn't stand the highest osmo video quality after browsing the sdcard association. Hope it will be fine...
Please investigate and present if there is a problem with continuous 4k60 video recording in mavic air 2. Overheating errors have been reported, when there is continuous 4k60frames video recording for more than 10-15 minutes.

Not necessarily a 'slow SD card' but a damaged SD card can absolutely mess up the recording. For example, I have two of the exact same R/W speed cards, one of which started recording at the most random FPS without changing any setting between the two whatsoever.

works - My problem was Choopy video on Laptop.... But on my Imac Video was and is perfect 4k. So I guess my Windows laptop does not have enough Ram. Video plays choppy on Windows laptop
this is not correct. A slow card will buffer and stutter. You can still record 4K/24fps for example even if the write speed can't keep up. I have no idea what this video is attempting to explain. I grab the wrong SD card sometimes and 1080p or 2.7k video might be perfect but the second I try and record 4K, video playback will be stuttering mess

Thanks for the tips, I did wonder as I was using the internal Mavic Air 2 storage and I thought surely they installed memory fast enough to demonstrate the capabilities of the drone as it was still choppy. However I did notice photographs were instant on the Internal storage as opposed to a class 10 card but as stated in your video you need a V30 card for the Mavic Air 2.
Drone: Mavic Air 2. Running 4K @ 24fps HDR When flying and recording, no issues. Also using H265. Have used the card made for the Air 2 since day one…no issues. Recently have been having issues..the video is laggy and rapid skips when editing. Weather in Cine or Normal mode. Using quick shot…no issues. Any idea what this could be? I’m thinking it my SD card is bad?

There are 2 points that I'd like to be more clearly expressed:
1st Motion blur isn't always a bad thing. Sure, nobody wants blurry photos or videos. But motion blur should be used as a creative tool. For example: the camera is following a racecar or bicycle or a runner or a ski-jumper - I want the background be equally blurred instead of flickering in single jumping pictures and the main point well focused and sharp.
2nd At 2:38 I'm missing something in that chart: the fps-rate. I think it has an essential influence on the needed write speed. Probably you can add that information for the future.
Agree on both, and will keep them in mind for upcoming videos

I know my electronics and know its all working as should, but i have a tested kingston 32gb u1 class 10.
sometimes it records and sometimes it says its recording but it doesnt, it can only be the sdcard and yes i know electronics but not hd cameras,

Thanks for your videos! I have an intermittent problem whereby my video footage (on 4K wide only) “glitches” while recording... the screen/footage literally distorts in a pulsing kind of way. Ah well, I know this comment isn't related to the context of video but slow sd card does affect choppy-ness/ audio issue of recording on phone, especially internal recording, application also seem to work faster like by 15 to 20fps and recording is smooth.
So now I record on internal storage and then export to sd card.
So can you tell me why a SanDisk ultra keeps recording so its keeping up right and any ideas how to get decent footage from an android phone... Great stuff... 😎
Thanks sir, very helpful! When I “stick” together few clips, for some reason some of them are jerky (the one with a close up on floor or close to water ). I hope I can fix it by using a filter to reduce the shutter speed. Quite panicking !
Please help, my Mavic Air2 video caputres are still choppy despite that I'm recording on internal memory, Im applying the 180 rule using filters, I refreshed the firmware and did the calibrations. My drone was good in the beginning, I just bought it 1 year ago with no crashes. It's driving me crazy to see the poor videos. Please help and share some advice

They are in the cloud,
in Dji's servers. Ensure you are logged into the Dji go app, go into flight records and hit the cloud sync icon. Chose all records and start the sync and it will redownload them all.May 26, 2016
This is what I found on Google, it is talking about DJI Go app and not Dji Fly app . I don't find any cloud sync icon in Dji Fly app....

Hey thanks for the great videos... A question for you.. I've recently started working with the Mavic Air 2 after using the Mavic Air for many years my playback on the tablet is very smooth and no problem but when I copy it to PC its a stutter fest and they seem to happen in the same exact places any idea whats going on... My system is high spec Ryzen 5600x, Rx6800xt Ram:32gb 3600, SSD m.2 nvme... Any ideas whats causing this

I have a question lately i’ve been noticing my mavic mini gets blurry than good quality back and forth back and forth and theres like a line that goes down the screen very hard to tell almost invisible. How can i get my video to have clear qt images. Cuz sometimes its good sometimes im like man what is that
I mistakenly bought an SD card rated V10 on the chart you display at 2:36. Mavic Air 2 did indeed display "slow SD" notification. I was able to shoot and capture smooth 4K video at 30fps and lengthy hyperlapses at 1080p. The option to record at 60 FPS or higher disappears with a slower SD card though.
That can happen. What usually happens if anything is, that the recording stops. But as an example, if I use a slow SD card in my Osmo Action 3, I can record for about an hour in HDR 4K 30fps. At the hour mark, it stops. Then I can turn the recording back on, and it records for about an hour again. So it can record 4k 30fps on a V10 card, just not for that long.
Also, at least for a the Osmo A3, the camera gets significantly hotter when running the V10. i know the drones are not as prone to heat issues, but still. A fast card is easier on the electronics.

Thank you for taking the trouble to discuss this matter. I wonder whether you can tell me the reason for a quirk of video recordings made with my Mavic Mini, the original model. Almost always when the recording time has reached 13 min 37 s the recording stops and restarts, so that the video of the flight is in two files with a slight discontinuity between them. I had speculated that it might be due to too slow a card. The recordings themselves are perfectly smooth.
My mavic pro does the same thing at the somewhere around 13 minutes,stops and starts recording on it's own. I haven't found any setting to change recording length in the go4 app. Anything longer than 13 minutes takes 2 or more recordings.
The file is full when it does that thats all, fat32 exfat only so large sonits starts a new recoding at the exact time the previous ends, no big deal its ok.

So I have a big problem with choppy videos or videos that stutter straight from the SD Card. I follow the 180 degree rule, I'm shooting at 24fps, my shutter speed is at 1/50 and added ND filter as well. I even turned off caching and auto HD sync. I'm using a Mavic Mini 2. I have no idea what else I can do. It's quite disappointing after investing money and time in this drone. Any ideas? You reckon that 24fps with 1/50 shutter is causing the problem and I should use 25fps instead? Or 30 fps with 1/60 shutter?

Without being rude I must say I disagree completely with your hypothesis regarding shutter speed causing jerky footage. Slowing the shutter speed is only to achieve that natural motion blur that you mentioned. I'm willing to listen though if you can explain how increased shutter speed would cause jittery video. I've taken numerous videos on a bright sunny day without ND filters and SS of 1600-2000. They look perfect. Like I said, I'd entertain your reasoning regarding this. Thanks.
You are right if you limit the motion in the frame you will see no difference in the footage
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA Actually that caveat is not needed. Motion or not, the footage will look the same. Unless you are very close to something. Even if you are close to something sans motion blur, the shutter speed increase will not cause jittery footage. Try it and you'll see.
