Mikel Merino in the left 8 role would be so good, he has the strength and ball winning of Rice and the underrated technical ability of Xhaka. I think a left side of Martinelli, Merino and Timber would be so deadly. His ability to win headers and to score headers will only add to our impressive set piece scoring as well!
Reckon Martinelli could do with an excellent passer of the ball, which doesn’t look like Merino, but his ball-wining and recovery from the wing (left footed helps) does look good. Still, prefer we,d focus on attack more in left 8 role, like a Simons or musiala. Keep Rice in 6. Reckon califiori will see timber in RB, allowing white to share RB and RCB.

I watched with keen interest when Rodri was subbed in the Euro 24 final. Zubimendi came on and there was no difference or drop in standard. I think the best 6 is Zubimendi. He is better than Rice for me.
There is an opportunity to use him as a 8 and convert him into a Jorginho type player later when he is above 30. He will have enough to learn from the coaches and Jorginho himself.

I don’t understand this transfer why sell Xhaka just to get Merino I would rather still have Xhaka. Why not look at a player like richard ríos for me both transfers have risk but there is more upside with richard ríos.
What should stay as a plus, is how him and Ødegaard cooperated when they played together at Real Sociedad. I wish someone would see how they supplemented each other, because I do think they understood each other quiet well.

None of us know who they are trying to sign these are all rumors and there could be others to come. There is no way we are signing Williams as he plays on the left and we have Trossard and Martinelli. Dont believe what you see online every summer we get it wrong when guessing who will be signed.

Swap Calafiori for Timber and you have the tallest team in the league by a mile.

Scouting report has become reading fbref stats. For best scouting report, interview regular Sociedad watchers who watch every game of Merino.
