I love the optimism, and share some of it. However, the hippocampus is a deep brain structure. Neuralink has a long way to go before it can be implanted on deep brain structures instead of the outer cortical layer. The hippocampus holds memories for around 2 years, then if they are retained, the memories are integrated into the outer cortex. We do not currently know how and why that happens from a neuroscience perspective. The motor and sensory applications of Neuralink are amazing and doable in the short to medium term. Influencing memories is way off the for now due to the depth of brain structures and limits of fMRI.
Storing someones life on transistors as accurately as possible is a kind of immortality in the sense that Caesar is history books is. Regardless of sophishication or buzzword “AI” involvement. And so would be “uploading your consciousness” to something that cannot be conscious. But it will be a very convincing loss.
The concept of "uploading" biology down to the cells into to the computer is interesting because you can learn everything about someone and simulate their brain even. Everything is conscious so that's not relevant ; you can't know if other people are conscious as is let alone judge if a computer is or not.
Immortality, as in existing forever in our current form, isn’t possible in the way we often imagine. However, we may eventually develop the ability to create cells that slow down the aging process. Aging occurs when cells can no longer reproduce quickly enough or when their reproduction slows, leading to degradation. So, while we might one day be able to slow down or even stop aging, the universe itself will still succumb to entropy, and everything will eventually decay. However, energy is something that cannot be destroyed. If we could somehow link consciousness to energy, we could theoretically achieve immortality. But for now, this remains purely in the realm of fantasy. It’s a strange universe we live in-on one hand, we have entropy, the inevitable decay of everything, and on the other hand, we have energy, which never ceases.
Numbers 23:19 says, "God is not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"
They should invent a drug that will slow time experience substantially , and then put you in a VR. That should make you feel a regular lifetime of 80 years feels like forever.
This is too reductive. Life is not just electrical inputs and information storage. Biological systems take more then electricity. The information carried in cells is far more complex, as is our instincts to survive. Always discounted. That is what makes us human.
Reducing consciousness to electrical signals is a profound misunderstanding. The human mind embodies physical, metaphysical, and quantum aspects, interwoven in ways we've barely begun to comprehend. While our essence may be eternal, it's not meant for this earthly plane. Immortality here is neither achievable nor desirable - the psychological burden would be unbearable. Humanity's relationship with death is paradoxical. We fear it, yet our finite nature defines us. This contradiction has shaped our cultures, philosophies, and collective psyche throughout history. Death gives meaning to life, urgency to our actions, and depth to our connections. Without it, we would cease to be human in any recognizable sense. Despite my respect for Elon Musk, his view on this matter is misguided. Our limited understanding of these complex dynamics only underscores the vastness of what remains unknown about consciousness and existence. In embracing our mortality, we embrace our humanity - with all its profound mysteries.
believe it or not, many of us are completely fine with transcending human consciousness and the human experience altogether; and i, for one, can’t wait lmao
I feel we are the human experience and expression of God or God express through this experience. Each one of us like a ray of sunshine or piece of the puzzle doing their work there is a really neat short that RUclips put out called how small we are for some it opens their eyes.
Life remains a mystery. Death is not only the loss of memory, it's also the loss of the Breath of Life started by the Creator. Those are 2 different things. Our robots will never be breathen in the Breath of Life even if they become sentient.
Our individuality is very much a function of the memories we've collected since birth. The brain is an interesting storage device, since it physically changes during the storage and retrieval process. One wild thought is that once we can edit the signals to our brains to modify memories, what does that mean for our sense of reality and sense of self? How could we ever be sure we ever actually experienced anything?
Robocop is the way forward , by keeping the origin of the mind , with neuro plastisity . Regeneration with a bionic body , clones will always be clones . Jonny Mnemonic mixed with Robocop .
Immortality is found in Faith and repentance in Jesus Christ. Those who’ve put their trust and faith in Jesus will live in paradise for eternity. Those who choose to reject Him will be faced with judgment and spend eternity in horrific torment and separation from God.
I don't like it. Dreams can seem too real sometimes, and make you wonder if something happened that didn't, an I/O device that could upload memories that weren't yours would be open season, don't go to sleep or wake up as someone else. Ghost in the machine.
Had my first lucid dream and i wasnt trying to and didnt believe it was possible but god damn if it didnt happen. My dream presented a situation i knew wasnt possible and its like my concept of time shifted and slowed down to more normal speed. I watched waves crashing on an island from a bed laying in a warehouse from work oddly enough. And it felt like real time speed. Then i thought is this a lucid dream? Do i have any control so i was like what is something random and wild umm what about a dragon? And then the ground shook as if one was walking toward me then a shadow shaped like a dragon then a dragon poked its head under the roof of the warehouse and then i woke up.
Yes, in Islam, Jesus refers to Allah as "Almighty God" and declares himself to be a servant of Allah. In the Quran, Jesus says, “I am a servant of Almighty God. He has given me Scripture and has made me a Prophet. He has blessed me wherever I may be and has made prayer and charity my duty as long as I live” (Al-Qur'aan 19:30-31).
And humans are electrical. 1:24 I have brought that up many times that we are biological computers. Always gathering information. However that's how we gather the information as we are a part of something much greater I will either bring the gift of something towards this greater self that is good or I will be the cancer
I am grateful to the universe because humanity is already undergoing subtle biological transformations concomitant with the addition of technologies that complement this adjustment and improvement, and Elon Musk is being part of this, what a sweet and great Being this man is, who will change a lot in our humanity. Congratulations for remaining so whole in this beautiful and just mission. 🙏🔥❤️💝⚖️🌹👏👏👏
Elmo's whole gig is to become immortal, cost what it may for others or the entire planet. He wants to be Pharaoh of Earth, even it is only him and his robots. P T Barnum saw Elmo coming 100 years ago.

It's not irrelevant if you are disintegrated. If you teleport, it's just a copy of you.
Ship of Theseus
Exactly, you die and a copy of you gets your memories. There would be no continuity for you, it'd be the end of the road
Other people would swear it's you, your copy would swear it's you and that it worked and they didn't die. But the fact is that you are dead

Can nurolink can help with autism?
yes
Depends on how severe, because autism is a genetic disorder neurolink could only fix it by completely rewiring the structure of the brain.
