the Stalin-Abakumov scene is a piece of art, it shows the petrifying force of power relation inside a hierarchy like Soviet Union or other dictatorial regimes. Both actors deserve an Oscar for their acts!
Just this second episode has kicked it up a notch already with two outstanding scenes one after the other. I've read the books. Didn't think there was anything more I could learn, but what you can do with video is indeed a different take on what you can do with a book. This series which I never knew existed, is gold.
Pure terror, walking into Stalin's office was in itself a 'Russian roulette', lucky ones walked out the front door, no matter the position in the establishment, the unlucky ones ended up in the Lyublyanka's cellar, others, in the Gulag to serve the 'red one', and then, a tenner to quash the floating thought.
Some day we hope to have the resources to translate the entire series into French, Italian, and German, and to post subtitles. But it is a big project! Thank you for your patience.
No. This is the "first circle" of hell, meaning the easiest form of imprisonment: prison for engineers. That's the whole point. He is not depicting the labor camps here.
Stop being a drama queen. Who wants to be more like the West? You mutilate your young. At least the ones you don't ab@rt. And have parades of degenerates in the streets. You send little kids to see perverts dance or read them sick garbage. Russia is 1000x better than any Western nation now. I never thought I'd say that in my entire life.
The opening scene with Engineer Bobynin is one of my favorites.

Who was behind Abakumov when he tried to get out..

The performers in this ten part movie are superb. Uncle Joe Stalin is a devil, played magnificently.
Wonderful acting, wardrobe, music and locations. Was that the real "Dacha"?
This is really good. Thank you.
Could it be possibile to receive the Subtitles file separately for people who don't understand english and live in France or Italy?

That Stalin fella, seems a decent enough bloke, if you ask me.
clean beds, sanitized and untruthful version of Solzhenytsin's real account of the hell of Russian, soviet slavery.

The Soviet Union looks like such pure hell to have lived in.
Is this horror done for??? Or is it coming back to Russia??
Das Leben in Sowjet Union war keine Hölle. Sie begreifen nichts
