At last' a serious sensible explanation of the painting procedure . Well thought out and explained . Oh, and a helmet every serious collector should have in their collection .
FANTASTIC, and fully agree with all. One thing I've always thought and looking having used paint within my job a lot. I think later, after AA, they were brush painted not sprayed. The mention of latex Household paint come up a lot, latex is not good for spraying especially in the 70s, the nozzle will dry and it seems to show the brush paint on many helmets. The drag and flow like when you try to repainted a door before the previous layer has set. I appreciate an obscure and not mentioned opinion but it would also explain why the details were hand painted not masked either. Thanks for superb work, I'm gradually buying all you line, THE BEST
I think if someone who bought one of those green helmets and wants to paint it could use Tamiya’s Primer for Nylon and Polypropylene if they can get ahold of it, and from what i know its transparent and keeps the color of the plastic intact
Great video, my personal favourite part: Even though I know how the vacuuming process is done, seeing it producing TK parts is amazing and very satisfying!! Maybe a slow Mo scene vacuuming a to part could be added to your intro or added to more videos in the future? Not long before my armour arrived 😁
Can anyone PLEASE tell me about the brow . What is it . I have a old helmet id like to complete but could never figure it out . I used a ruber tube shaved flat. I would like to change it ..
Great video guys! I’m so close to pulling the trigger on one of these but as I’m unfamiliar with different types of plastic can I ask is the paint likely to come off in time, or will it last as long as the helmet does not receive much handling? Is it also likely to be difficult to ship these without some kind of damage to the paintwork whilst in transit?
It will come off if handled roughly or repeatedly. Not just due to time or shipping, we pack them well. It is recommended as a display piece rather than for costuming.

Excellent video, I love the details of this. Not only the helmet, but the in depth explanation of how it came to be. Can't wait for my helmet No6.
Great video. You should do more like this where you explain how and why you think the helmets were constructed in they way they where.
We agree.
Will ever make an HDPE kit? I can’t wait to start my ABS one, but the purist in me would definitely buy a kit with HDPE
