2 of my favorite works of Church music. I used to sing both on Sunday evenings at Chapel when i was a chorister (treble & then an Alto) at Boarding school. Our school Chapel was very beautiful and still is.

Brings back wonderful memories of church choir time 1950 - 1970.

When I was a Chorister at School, we often used to perform Standford's Magnificat and the Nunc Dimitis in B Flat at Even Song in the School Chapel which wasa Beautiful chapel built in the early 1900's

Do we really need 30 seconds of silence to announce 3 pieces of information at the beginning?

Tbf I have been using this recording to learn the piece and the 30 second intro gives me time to sort out my music 😂

Perhaps use the time to reflect. We all need stillness sometimes.

You that petty to have only that to say? Is your life going to be that badly affected? Your world gonna crumble? No - so get a grip you moaning shite - amazing music but nope all you have to gripe about is fooking 30 seconds of silence - sound like a petulant child, try leaving positive comments instead of whiny crap ones

As I expected. Dignified, proper church music. Redman, Haugen and Townend take note, you might actually learn something..........

It may have escaped your notice but this piece was not written for Congregational singing so you are rather comparing two different animals. A bit like comparing a dinner suit with a lounge suit. Different things for different occasions. Also the three you mentioned write in different styles from each other.
This is a lovely production. As it happens, as a singer, I personally prefer Stanford's setting in G but that is unfair because both are different styles for different purposes.

The three I mentioned have contributed to my nervous breakdown. So I go back to Stanford and S S Wesley to try and recover. One day I might try to listen to Bach.......................
