Definitely cool! I was looking at the fairing for the roof rack when I get my van, but I think I'll get the LED Light Bar instead. They can see that thing from space!
Great job!! Was wondering where you were for a few weeks! Good Move on the Antenna! Didn't think of that but I'll now be doing the same! Looks soooo much better!
Not bad! I may get that light bar for my aluminess! Also I have the upfitter switches so I'm gonna wire in there. It's a bit easier since you get access to power right behind the glove box. Looks great! the rack as well👍🏽
Good Job!! Wondering where you were for past few weeks! Great call on the antenna, I didn't even think of that but now that will be done on my van also!! Again, can not wait to see your interior layout when you start that phase!! What are you doing next to the van?
I wish that you explained more about setting up your gland to pass the wires through the roof. The light bar I got has two huge connectors on both ends so I’m thinking I’m gonna have to cut and slice those wires because I can’t fit them through any gland with the connector on.
Would you consider using a floor switch for the light bar that could be turned on with your left foot vs. left hand? Maybe like the old old dimmer switches on older cars and trucks? Then the light could be turned on and off while driving with little distraction. Just a thought.
Hey Robert - sounds like an interesting idea. I'd be concerned with getting the switch wet or dirty. Its not too much work to feel for it next to the left knee
So funny...im doing the same build. I got 2020 148 mid awd crew. Waiting on the ac200 as well. I got the upfitter switches but looks a bit comllicated tying into it.
That’s awesome! Yeah took a big risk by going with the AC200 but glad I did. Yeah not much info on the up fitter switches yet but I’m sure people will figure it out soon
@@RichBuilt Hey, so I went and got the aame solar set up as you but only got two panels. I was waiting for the generator. My question is, the panels are generating power, is it okay to just leave the wires hanging and ready to go without plugging them into anything?
@@mfrog8619 hey there, if the cables are exposed they should either be capped or taped temporarily. Don’t leave them exposed. If you already installed the mc4 connectors you are good to go. Just a reminder don’t cut the wires if the solar is already Generating power
When I first watched this video I had no idea what the CCP was. I searched and found out the Transit supports up to 3 CCP terminals. I looked and have CCP 1 & 2 on my barebones Transit. One is rated at 60amps and the other is 175amps (or so the Transit forums say). I might wire in there for the house battery charger if I can verify that my alternator can handle it at idle.
Nice light and good looking install. I just ordered my FVC rack with the fairing because I read it reduces the wind noise significantly. What was it like in terms of wind noise driving around without the light bar and then with the light bar?
Thank you! I had the same plans, but found that the light bar could be installed easily with the rack. Wind noise before was none existent before the light bar. After the light bar you can hear wind after 70mph but not too bad
Rich buddy. Have you used the light much since your install? Still recommend? I'm thinking I might do some smaller lights at corners to light up sides.
Hey Micah, I use it every time I need more light instead of the high beams! I’ve found it useful but I don’t necessarily think its the best option. The smaller corner lights would work great I think
Did you take the top part of the seatbelt pillar off? Or just shimmy the wires through there? I took mine off as much as the panel would allow (with the seatbelt still attached), and now the slider to adjust seatbelt height is loose and won't go back to normal... Can't seem to figure out how to fix it.
Hey Alex, I think I pulled it off as much as it would allow. I don't think I was able to take it off, but just enough to slide the cable through. See if you can take it completely off and fix it or see if there's already a fix for it online somehwere in the forums.
@@RichBuilt Thanks for the response. Dang... I might have done too much damage already then haha. As you can tell by all my comments on your videos, I'm currently finishing the electrical part of my build. Thanks again! I really appreciate it.
@@RichBuilt Just got it installed! You weren't kidding... taking the seat apart really does add some time 😂 One last question for you about this: is your light bar able to turn on without the key in the ignition? In theory, it shouldn't, but mine does. I have it wired the same way you have yours wired, and I wired the switch to only turn on the blue low-light when switched on in order to avoid that draining the battery.
Hey Alex, yes mine turns on without the keys. I think only for the first 15 minutes. Then it does not turn on without the keys. Similar to how the music turns off without the keys after some time
Non-Aesthetic Van Lifer simply twist the old one off and twist the new one on. The antenna should work on the 2019. It doesn’t affect radio reception or key fob signals from what I experienced.
I'm assuming the light bar only works with the engine/ignition on. Are you planning on installing lithium battery bank, or are you relying exclusively on the AC200 for off-grid power? Nice work BTW. I've been dreaming of building one of these for a while, and I will be using your build as a starting template. Cheers!
Hi Anthony, Thank you! I plan to use the AC200 to power the entire build and should suit my needs perfectly. The lightbar works independently of the Van lights and can be turned on while the car is running and when the ignition is on Accessory.
@@RichBuilt Sorry, that's what I had meant-Engine/Accessory ON-haha. Nice! I have two EcoFlow Deltas, but I am still thinking of putting in an onboard lithium battery bank. Since you're not installing an AC unit, it's probably not necessary... but nice to have. Thanks!
How is this light bar holding up for you? Lots of negative reviews on Amazon about water damage when it rains and horrible wind noise. Curious what your thoughts are as I would be installing on the exact same van. Thanks!
@RichBuilt Trying to put this together now and realizing I need something to secure it to the 80/20… did you have to use sliding t-nuts? Can I ask what size thread if so?
If you experience any wind noise, try adjusting the angle of the light a few increments at a time. I don't have noticeable wind noise with it slightly angled down.
I was just looking closer for detail, and I notice your gland for your wire entry is actually facing the wrong way the slope end the gland should be facing in the direction that the vehicle is in motion. But maybe your wire wasn’t long enough to where you could turn it around and make it go through like the backside have the slope end of the gland facing forward But I don’t think he’s showed it I would make sure that the wire that goes through your gland is sealed up really good keep out water intrusion. I’m not trying to criticize or anything. I’m following you and I’m actually your van and our van and my wife her name is Van. Anh neguyen. I ordered the same rack same solar panels same insulation, the same light bar will go up. Unless I decide on a curve and have someone make me special brackets so I can fit the curve. Like I said earlier bought the same rack, those racks are expensive $1425. And then I got like six solar panels bought two by accident. But the extra solar panels they’ll be good for when I’m parked in the shade I can extend them away from the van to keep the Bluetti AC200 Charged
Thanks Billy! Always open to input :) That's awesome that you're pursuing a similar build! I'm sure with a little bit of tweaking to the 8020 cross bars you could fit at least 5 panels up there. I would play round with the dimensions to see if it would work. Also, good eye on the entry housing. It is facing the wrong direction, I didn't want to splice and extend the cable, but I did make sure to seal the housing and ensure everything was water tight.
@@RichBuilt Would love to see the finished gland entry. The factory hole sits in a trough which makes it tough to put a flush cover over the open back end of the trough.

Do you think a 54" or 56" light bar would fit with the FLC rack?

Drill a hole through the cross bar and bolt it down with loctite.
