The fact that macron blamed video games for the riots makes it even more interesting

Whats insane is that Macron actually suggested all the violence & riot in France is caused by video games like GTA💀
This isn't a meme, that's his actual statement.
France is very well known to not having any protest before the inventions of video games, clearly no riots happened beforehand /s
At this point the "video games = violence" thing is now used more as an excuse than mass hysteria

I think part of the reason that France outdoes the rest of the world when it comes to rioting is because they're professionals with experience.
From revolutions to bread riots to causing all sorts of fun problems for the Nazi occupation, France has a wealth of experience and a rich tradition of resisting those in power.
we are new generations so we arent really proffesionnals, it's just seing a kid getting shot and being mocked by the governement is enough to make us angry and hate on the police, even if they just follow orders

As a French, the situation right now is really reminiscent of what happened in the US with the George Floyd case.
You have a young boy with african origins, really well known by the police, who got killed (shot with a pistol in this case) while he was fleeing in a car and putting people in danger.
This situation is caused by a video showing the officer asking him while they are all stoped to turn off the engine which he does not comply with and proceed to floor the pedal. A second after the acceleration the cop shoot his gun at point blank and kill the boy.
The video is pretty shocking and is creating an enormous debate in France. Most people agree that no one should die like this for not complying to a traffic stop however he made his choice by living against the law and had endangered several pedestrian while fleeing.
No one in his right mind is agreeing with the destruction of properties, schools, libraries, bus yards and more that are happening right now. The lootings are not serving the cause of people fighting against police brutality which is totally a reality in my country.
Two funds have been created to help the boy's family as well as the cop family getting death threats.
The boy fund is currently around 300K while the cop one is around 1.2M
Some people are calling it a "referundum" more than a fund
Il a mérité sa balle et les merdes qui brûlent des mediateques méritent le meme sort

Police brutality?
Nahel Merzouk (2006 - 27 June 2023) was a 17-year-old French-Algerian youth.[13] He was previously enrolled at the Lycée Louis-Blériot in Suresnes, where he attended classes for six months, then stopped going to school. Merzouk worked as a pizza delivery boy in Nanterre.[14][15] According to a paramedic who knew Merzouk, his father left his mother before Merzouk was born.[16] Merzouk did not have a criminal record[17] but he was "known to the police, particularly for resisting arrest", and in fact had been charged with resisting the previous weekend[18] and five times since 2021. His judicial file included 15 recorded incidents, including use of false license plates, driving without insurance, and for the sale and consumption of drugs.[19]
Now tell me? Are they really rioting for the kid? Or are they using the situation as a way to loot?
So he was also illegally driving right? Because last time I checked, legal car driving age is 18 in France and Europe. And yes, using the situation as an excuse for looting is a thing. These 'rioters' went straight for the high end fashion stores and apple stores. Literally no shame.
Those statistics have been debunked , dumbad.
And even if they were true, which they are not, does resisting arrest warrant the death penalty.

The "French" ...
The issue with these riots is that it became an absolute grief fest and no cause will justify it. The idea behind a riot is to show your government you are ready to act if they do too much shit, and you try to tell them (or the police in this situation) to stop whatever they are doing and to initiate some change.
Right now, the government isn't suffering anything apart maybe being insulted and lacking control of the crowds. The middle class, however, is taking heavy damage for absolutely no reason, with their shops completly destroyed and pillaged. It's no longer riots, it's organised mass robery
"no cause will justify it."
I have a cause right here officer, and it has a lot of melanin 😂
@@Klongu_Da_Bongu Yeah an arab kid got shot by the police and the civilian middle class must pay for it. You're right it makes sense to pillage hundreds of stores that juste happened to be built here, and to ruin the lives of at least as much innocents lives when they have strictly nothing to do with the police's mistakes (just to clarify, this is irony). All these riots are doing is heating up the conflicts between the masses. So yeah, no cause can justify what is happening to the civilians by the hands of the rioters. On this front, it's an unjustified civil war, but only one side is striking, the other can't do anything but suffer.
I just wanted to point out this aspect of the riots, as a reminder that it's all fun and memes until it hits you right on your face
It is NOT organised. Idk what makes you think it is, but it is not.
We didn’t wake up one day and decided to burn stuff. We just woke up one day learning that a policeman shot a kid, and then reported that the kid tried to kill him, because that policeman did not know there was a video of him screaming "I’m gonna put a bullet in your head." and shooting.
Yes, it is a grief fest. What else can happen when so much anger builds up? When every colored kid knows exactly what systemic racism feels like, but of course people in power will say "but we’re colorblind, how can we be racist?"
They could have been scared if they didn’t have to face the police every single day whether they burn shit or not I guess.
Yes, the victims of this are gonna be- not the middle class, because the middle class don’t live in the ghettos where immigrants live. The victims are gonna be immigrants themselves. That sucks, but also no one is qualified to ask them to calm down when the government killed a child, and every one can identify themselves so easily to that child.

Well people uploading directly stops misinformation.
Remember seeing a liveleak video years ago that showed one thing while the next few days the news said it was the other way around but it very clearly wasn’t.
You are my number 1 resource when it comes to world news.

As a French citizen i'm out of words of what is going right know.
Bro this is literally just FreeGuy movie
French person here ! I can attest that police brutality is... *_NOT_* a worldwide issue.
Only you americans seem to think that, and, by proxy, so does the internet.
And when a whole generation of people, my generation, grows up on the internet, they tend to believe what they see there.
Ergo, because of the internet, and the USA's cultural influence on it, french youth is CONVINCED the french life is the same as american life, and therefore, that french police is as brutal as american police, when in reality, french policemen are actually incredibly sheepy and easily pushed over.
Was this kid killed by police brutality ? It *could* be. Doesn't mean that it is, as we still only know the facts from the kid's friends' perspective, where of COURSE they'd defend him and call for police brutality, we have yet to see the whole picture. The policeman could have acted out of racism, but he also could have poorly aimed, as the car was speeding off. He is certainly *responsible,* but objective proof needs to be found that he is *guilty.*
Also, the mom calling his kid an innocent angel ? Yeah, no, fuck that. The kid had a dozen fellonies on his profile, was in juvenile hall just the week before, and also, oh yeah, the mom LITERALLY did not give a fuck about her child dying and could be seen smiling and having a blast during the riots and especially the White March for her son, when any other parent, *responsible* and *loving* parents, would be mourning.
*The **_TL;DR_** here being : don't apply american culture on other countries, especially Europe, because it will just hurt the country you're applying to, and the ACAB movement is incredibly innapropriate outside the US and used only **_by rioters_** to excuse **_their_** brutality on policemen and CRS.*
Still, from another viewpoint you could say that the video is fueling the riots BECAUSE french people don't want cops who shoot people as a first response, now I don't know specifics, but I do know that cops need to go through training and I'm pretty sure that guns are treated as a last, last, last resort.
Even if you're guilty of something, doesn't mean you lose the right to your life and are allowed to be shot at by cops or be mistreated by them, that's why defense attorneys exist who know that their clients are guilty, because they are fightning tooth and nail to lessen their time either by police mistreatment or ruling out inconclusive evidence.
Also, the mother smiling on the riot does not mean necessarily that she is a bad person and that she isn't mourning, a lot of people react differently to events like these, and they may mourn differently. If your kid died, but a big portion of the country went up in protests against your kid's death, you would mourn pretty differently than usual.
(EDIT: I did not realize this was 10 months ago)
@@shroomer3867 if i remember well
the guy was already chased by the police and he almost ran over people, when the police finally stopped him. He tried to run away with the car again, but one of the policeman was near the front (and maybe a bit on the side i don't remember) and he shot him when he tried to run away again.
Now the debate have been "do the shot was voluntary lethal?"
the accused policeman, the police departement and even police trainers said that the policeman who shot was in the right condition to do it and that the shot wasn't meant to kill him.
of course believe it or not, but i choose to believe the police since it's their job to maintain order and that Nahel clearly wasn't an innocent guy.
and by seeing the riot i start to think most of the people who said "police brutality" are just paranoiac biaised by the political opinion

@@Cloaker86 no.
This isn't an uprising of French people which could devolve into a revolution, this is a wave of degradation and shop pillaging done by mostly very young (12-20 years old) people of North-African, Subsaharan... origins... , who think (kinda rightly so) that they can get away with it as they're part of a larger group, and are fuelled by greed (stealing) and fame (posting the most destructive and absurd things they can on social networks).
By now, the thing is already pretty much dead, but there might be chances they erupt again on July 14th (France's national holiday). Anyways, if you don't go out at night, don't hold valuables and aren't in some neighborhoods, you have nothing to worry about.
Lol Brits know this is going down and are still stepping in Eurostars heading down to Paris! You'll be fine.
