    Great video. Why did you get rid of your Casita travel trailer? I am thinking about buying the NuCamp Tab 400 Teardrop trailer.

      Thank you! The NuCamp Tab 400 looks nice. 🙂 We liked our Casita Travel Trailer. We decided to sell it for a few different reasons. At the time, we were thinking about getting a van, but this teardrop actually worked out better. I wrote a blog post about it here: highwaytohoeftland.com/2015/11/04/were-selling-our-casita-travel-trailer/

    Great layout except the AC unit. Wish one can put on a slide rail and when not needed or while on road it can be pushed inside flush to to the exterior wall.

      Hi Ansu, That's a great idea for the AC unit. Maybe they could do that for new builds. Thanks

    Great review. Some of the upgrades I have also ordered so it was nice to see. You have the bunk and I ordered my with the two shelves but now I need to look at the window placement. I didn't order my with the electrical hookup but am now wondering if I should change it. Under the sink you have a large grey box, is that the converter? Do you have the electric brakes and if so do you need them?

      @HighwaytoHoeftland  2 года назад

      Hi Kevin, thanks for your comment and questions. The grey box is the power converter. On the box, it says "PowerMax," model PM3-15LK. We enjoy the option of being able to use electrical/shore power in some situations. Yes, we got the electric brakes as an add on. Some people (including Dave) said the electric brakes aren't needed. But we are into extra safety and are glad we got them. 👍🙂

    Where and how did you make the purchase? Is the factory in Bend Oregon? Is that where somebody would have to pick up the trailer? We have enjoyed many of your videos. This is the first time I’m seeing the trailer, it’s beautiful!

      Hi Gerard, we're glad you're enjoying the videos and the trailer! Yes, the shop is in Bend, Oregon. The owner is Dave and he could probably help you get assistance with setting up shipping if you cannot come to Bend. We live in Central Oregon, so we were able to easily go look at them, talk to Dave in person, put down our down payment and then pick it up a few months later. If you email him (his email is on Bendteardrop.com), I'm sure he'd be happy to answer your questions asap. Playing with Sticks also recently featured the Bend Teardrop on thier channel if you want more info.🤗

    We just ordered a 5 x 10 from Dave
    Did you get a regular queen sized mattress? Was the width okay?

    • @HighwaytoHoeftland
      @HighwaytoHoeftland  Год назад +1

      Hi Sam, sorry for the late reply. We just got home from an Alaskan cruise. Yes, we got the regular queen sized mattress. It's a snug fit, but it does indeed fit. Congrats on your new trailer purchase!

    We just got our trailer from Bend Teardrop. Suggestions on a mattress?

      Hi Josh, congrats on your trailer! We bought a regular queen size spring mattress for around $200. It needed a topper to make it more comfortable. Dave said the foam ones can collect moisture. Have fun camping!

    In the process of ordering ours. Will be as yours a 5x10 , how is yours working out as of today? I’m worried about moisture on the inner cabin area, is it easy to wipe down? Any more ideas would be appreciated. Thanks for sharing your adventures

    • @HighwaytoHoeftland
      @HighwaytoHoeftland  2 года назад +1

      Hello! Yes, it's easy to wipe down. When we have the fantastic fan running, we haven't experienced moisture issues. All long as it's ventilated, it seems just fine. We haven't had any problems with our trailer so far. Had it since Oct. If we were to order again now, we'd get more options. Probably a light on each side of the trailer, more USBs and a 12 volt. In the galley, we would add the option to open it from the side and top. Also, maybe the skylight? Hope this helps!

    Why didn’t you get the roof top air conditioner?

    • @HighwaytoHoeftland
      @HighwaytoHoeftland  Год назад

      Hi Ronald, unfortunately that wasn't an option at the time. That would be ideal.

      You can still do it. That AC mounted to the side looks so wrong, really. That rig looks so right but with the AC it looks like so anti aerodynamic.

    Nice trailer. Air conditioner, galley, usb ports are all nice to have. Check out my homemade trailer.
