Alex Morozov Yeah, it's starting to worry me a bit, especially since it's starting to become a bit more commonplace and it's obvious that they are reserving harsher judgements on them. I hope it's just them shooting the shit and showcasing that these games exist (for anyone interested) and not them trying to shill.
Zagstrak If you can give me solid examples of them playing unfinished games that seemed bad, but were good upon completion, I'd go with that answer. The only time they've been proven to praise early-access games appropriately is when the demo actually looks wonderful, like Shovel Knight.
Alex Morozov They've been super neutral recently on everything. I get Liam being way too positive for his own good, but Woolie should have taken a solid shit on this game. Feels awkward. Like that whole "Everyone is glancing at each other chuckling nervously, thinking 'Is anyone gonna say it? This is shit' the whole time" type of awkward.
Hey I know! Let's make an indie fanservice kart racer! We'll have all the indie favorites, like flash games, IRONIC flash games, and games that HAVEN'T EVEN COME OUT YET! THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!
Having literally no clue about any of these hipster indie games they keep talking about, I feel like this episode went way over my head with the humor. I had no idea what the fuck they were on about most of the time.
Even though its a beta, I have little interest in playing this. If I wanted mario cart, Id go buy mario cart. I'll give you a single pat on the back woolie, trying to promote this, buuuuuuut...you could promote better. But your heart is in the right place, so praise be to you.
globox123456789 he gave it a shot. But even the greatest salesmen can't get you to buy dogshit. Like I said, the shilling could go to better. He still gets a single pat, but just one, you know like "good job, champ" kind of pat
I'm still waiting for Frog Fractions the race track. It's a track that takes 3 hours per lap, and only after you finish the track do you realize it's not even a race at all.
Guys, can you play a REAL racing game sometimes? Burnout? Split/Second? Ridge Racer: Unbounded? It's nice to support an indie kickstarter, even if I don't give a damn about it, but that's all this series does. A real, actually finished game would be nice once in a while.
I helped fund the ouya kickstarter. Got the first batch with 2 controllers. I've still not ever turned the thing on. Just a reminder and a paper weight.
thatonedude675 That's not true. You get games like By the Sword, Bloodstained, and Mighty No. 9 just to name a few. You really shouldn't generalize like that. Not to say that there aren't bad crowd-funded things out there, just that a good number of them are worth it.
Unlike most people I don't have a grudge for the Ouya, I don't really hate it, but this game makes it really hard to not hate the Ouya. Like...how do you fuck up a Mario Kart clone this hard? You could've just straight up ripped off Mario Kart or Crash Team Racing, at least you'd have something decent.
Literally who?: The Roster. The only slightly noteworthy racer is pip. This is way beyond just indie. Should have called it Super D-lister Karts Grand Prix.
Forgot to add Hue and Val from Runbow (with alt colors), Brick from Star Mazer, The Square from INK (is like meat boy but with color elements), the Knight from Knightmare Tower.
Liam wants Mario Kart without items? Mario Kart is exactly like Smash? This is why I have such a hard time with Liam videos. He has these ridiculous opinions that makes him sound super smarmy and I'm sure that he is really like that. Like if you beat his ass on FD with items on and he's like "Yea but there were items... so it doesn't count hurrrrrrr"
Well... Items adds a random factor to the match, so maybe Liam would like to see some Mario Kart played at a high skill level like Smash. Not just luck. Although both games have some few cool tricks with items.
Oh my god. Everytime you bump into the side of the road my soul wants to leave my body. I think I would hate this game. I think I would try to kickstop this game.
God this is like the Playstation All-Stars of kart racing games. You want to like it but none of the characters you want are there, it's ugly, barebones, missing fanservice, missing charm, the gameplay isn't well thought out and half the games it does represent aren't out yet.
Half of this game's 16 positive reviews are devs, the others are KS users, and it's kindest curator recommendation is the Read Only Memory dev. Too legit.
Teh BrownieMixx quackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquack
godwavenexus I don't know if it looks bad, it just plays horribly. Though if the focus was on making it Super Bump Drifter at least it would've had a gimmick
***** It's pretty ugly. I mean I guess I have a bias against because most indie games I see are very unappealing to me. They all want to be VVVVVV in visual and charm and only get so far and end up looking like the worst game on Atari for it rather a cute homage (...an homage that is being beaten so hard into the ground it drowns out the pleas for them to stop). That Fist of Awesome thing seems to be one of worst examples from a first impression. If Liam is right to think it's a bad game I can't say I'm surprised. Most of them try to be real silly or "funny" in order to be memorable, the kind of shit that is very unlikely to last in appeal. Yeah. This game kinda sums up most indie stuff for me. Ugly visually and ehh gameplay (with a few notable exceptions, Shutshimi, Adventures of Pip and Lobodestroyo*) *From what I gather it's a 3d platformer which already puts it miles ahead for breaking the indie mold.
godwavenexus People are maybe being a bit hard on it in the comments, but the track design doesn't seem very good tbh. The colours sometimes blend together, other times they clash and it makes it hard to see the walls and the numerous pits. Liam couldn't tell where to drive sometimes due to the twists, turns, ramps and colours and I got pretty confused myself watching it. He's also clearly not very good at it but it also looks like it handles a lot differently compared to Mario Kart and he never played it before. The sprites and graphics in general look pretty nice and the music seems good though. I like to think good game design + balancing isn't that hard if you've played videogames for long enough and doesn't require special talent or anything if you go about it in a logical way. Things like track design and such, it's just a question of "Do I find this track fun to drive on or not?" Get some second opinions and there you go. it just makes me wonder if you really do have to be a Miyamoto or someone else like that to just make good games like that. And these guys are just making a Mario Kart game, so how do you get the track design wrong in a genre like this? I dunno.
FallingWhale Not sure you know what an in-joke is based on your response. Duck Game's a simple, fantastic game that happens to be humorous. Are you saying the developers of Duck Game were in on the fact that this game is a joke (as in a laughable piece of crap) when they agreed to be a part of it?
"I wish that there were other consoles that could be characters in this [meta-themed racing] game..." Sounds like you're just wishing for a Nepnep racing game to me.
Geez, SIK really changed a lot since this video. The game still in Early Access but it got solid controls a lot changes to the tracks plus new additions of characters that the Zaibatsu might know and it has Splitscreen GP support up to 4 players that maybe the whole group can play this but Battle Mode is in repairs for now. For Linux users, the game is getting a Linux port too.
For those who heard the podcast today you should check out street fighter the animated series, it's good to make fun of with a bunch of friends and little known fact studio madhouse worked on it
Aw yeah, more drift! I know that it probably isn't going to happen, but if this were ACTUALLY just an excuse to have a special F-Zero GX fisticuffs, I would be super stoked.
The thing about these old style kart games is that you gotta remember you don't want to always be going as fast as you can. Sometimes you gotta know your limits and dodge the boost pad! Great game, thanks for showing it guys.
Drinking game: Every time you see an element that looks suspiciously like an element from the Mario Kart series, take a drink. If you can survive for five minutes, you're officially immune to alcohol. Even if you used alcohol-free beer.

Liam forever haunted by his failure to protect the Ouya's smile.
Everyone should be asking, "Where's Pat?"
This game sure is a good representation of indie games:
A sloppy copy of a much better game.
Finally more karts, never enough karts.
None of these characters are remotely iconic enough to be in a game like this. Especially not the freaking Ouya man.
The Ouya is even more dead than the Vita!
A big, mid-screen pop-up to show your drift boost?
That's _totally_ more convenient than just having colored sparks.
Oh thank fuck they mentioned Amazing Frog? I was wondering where he was.
Even though its a beta, I have little interest in playing this. If I wanted mario cart, Id go buy mario cart. I'll give you a single pat on the back woolie, trying to promote this, buuuuuuut...you could promote better. But your heart is in the right place, so praise be to you.
Brandon P.
Do not pat someone for shilling a shitty game.
globox123456789 he gave it a shot. But even the greatest salesmen can't get you to buy dogshit. Like I said, the shilling could go to better. He still gets a single pat, but just one, you know like "good job, champ" kind of pat
This looks like another brawllaha.
I'm still waiting for Frog Fractions the race track. It's a track that takes 3 hours per lap, and only after you finish the track do you realize it's not even a race at all.
I can't wait to see them push a third Nintendo clone
Guys, can you play a REAL racing game sometimes? Burnout? Split/Second? Ridge Racer: Unbounded? It's nice to support an indie kickstarter, even if I don't give a damn about it, but that's all this series does. A real, actually finished game would be nice once in a while.
Super Best Friends Bump
You guys are being super generous when you say this game is "okay". It's alright, you can be honest, it's not good.
The only time I ever heard about Ouya was about how dead it was
I helped fund the ouya kickstarter. Got the first batch with 2 controllers. I've still not ever turned the thing on. Just a reminder and a paper weight.
You deserve that regret.
Prowlingmonkey Stop crowd funding. Like, no, really, stop it. 1 out of 100 may be good but then there's 99 Ouyas
thatonedude675 That's not true. You get games like By the Sword, Bloodstained, and Mighty No. 9 just to name a few. You really shouldn't generalize like that. Not to say that there aren't bad crowd-funded things out there, just that a good number of them are worth it.
WarpWalker MN9 looks awful.
neoepochx woolie said on the podcast last week that it looks a lot better than it used too.
Mario Kart for indie games - just not the ones you want.
They should put the unsold Ouyas in that hole they dug those E.T. carts out of.
I agree with Woolie; Android boxes aren't going to be a big thing anytime soon, probably ever.
Is depression quest a racer? Can a text box race?
Ouya? That's an interesting way to say "failed garbage"
Literally who?: The Roster. The only slightly noteworthy racer is pip. This is way beyond just indie. Should have called it Super D-lister Karts Grand Prix.
Lovemachine
Super Mario Kart Rip-Off 3000.
i noticed the duck game duck. and thats anout it
Lovemachine I know this comment is old but the character roster got some new characters. Like Carol from Freedom Planet and Juan from Guacamelee.
Ok, so now it's Super D-Lister Karts Grand Prix & Juan and Carol. Year and a half later and the point stills stands.
Forgot to add Hue and Val from Runbow (with alt colors), Brick from Star Mazer, The Square from INK (is like meat boy but with color elements), the Knight from Knightmare Tower.
Soooooo.... this is some sort of browser game?
The only character i recognise is Cannabalt and that is because i knew that game from newgrounds.
I only recognize Pip and the fish because their games have been played on the channel.
***** I only reckoning the duck from duck game' cus adult swim
I only know Power Drive and Duck Game because Vinny played them on Vinesauce!
Whoever named this game should be sentenced to 100 hours of community service to punish this absurd combination of laziness and pretentiousness.
this reminds me of konami krazy racers with how the game controls.
This is just as exciting to watch as Brawlhalla...
Basically, not at all
is it wrong that I fucking hate that flat perspective and can never see the walls till I have already hit them
The bass on when you hit the walls is absurd, my dogs are going nuts!
Mario Kart without items doesn't make sense. The faster characters would simply outrun the slower ones.
Catorak Exactly. That's why blue shells exist.
Right. But Liam wants to play Mario Kart without items because "That's a higher level of skill" Fucking dumb.
*****
Right. But Liam wants to play Mario Kart without items because "That's a higher level of skill" Fucking dumb.
Liam can only do well on Castlevania themed racing games.
No one can save the Ouya. Not even Liam, especially since he's not Jesus 2 anymore because of his new haircut
Oh my god. Everytime you bump into the side of the road my soul wants to leave my body. I think I would hate this game. I think I would try to kickstop this game.
Wow, this game looks absolutely horrendous.
If there was gonna be an OUYA 2. They better name it TWOya. I still wouldn't buy it, but it would be funny.
I swear racing all afternoon was better
Just like Mario Kart, but with none of the things that make Mario Kart worth playing.
Now all we need is Super Smash indies and my life will be complete.
The whispering willows map sounded like it had The X-Files in the background.
This game looks super good. I enjoyed watching you endlessly slide into walls and fall into pits for 28 minutes.
"Oh my god, the walls are like magnets." I'm glad this game is an homage to Sonic R then.
Christian Dark
CAN YOU FEEL THE SUNSHINE?!
I wish it brightened up my day T_T
God this is like the Playstation All-Stars of kart racing games. You want to like it but none of the characters you want are there, it's ugly, barebones, missing fanservice, missing charm, the gameplay isn't well thought out and half the games it does represent aren't out yet.
Baby turn around and let me see that super indie kart game go BUMP BUMP BUMP
Since when was 200cc MK8 a wreck? The moment you realise you can brake while drifting, it becomes super easy
Half of this game's 16 positive reviews are devs, the others are KS users, and it's kindest curator recommendation is the Read Only Memory dev.
Too legit.
Duck game confirmed for next friday night fisticuffs
Teh BrownieMixx quackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquackquack
Teh BrownieMixx Only if. I could imagine Woolie loving the moment he could kill animals again.
... Then quacks would be everywhere.
We really need all four of you to play Duck Game.
This game looks pretty bad.
godwavenexus watching Liam drive into every wall is what was really bad
godwavenexus I don't know if it looks bad, it just plays horribly.
Ugly visually and ehh gameplay (with a few notable exceptions, Shutshimi, Adventures of Pip and Lobodestroyo*)
*From what I gather it's a 3d platformer which already puts it miles ahead for breaking the indie mold.
godwavenexus I dunno man there's two schools of thought...
godwavenexus People are maybe being a bit hard on it in the comments, but the track design doesn't seem very good tbh.
I dunno.
No playable Shovel Knight? Sad face!
Zerotrance11 That's a real game with licenses and popularity. They can't afford it. Honestly, Duck Game is too good for this.
seymourglass26 Duck Game is an injoke, [as] knew when they let it in.
FallingWhale Not sure you know what an in-joke is based on your response. Duck Game's a simple, fantastic game that happens to be humorous. Are you saying the developers of Duck Game were in on the fact that this game is a joke (as in a laughable piece of crap) when they agreed to be a part of it?
seymourglass26 Yes, [as] (makers of Duck Game) does that sort of thing often.
Ouya is the prettiest paperweight I've ever bought.
So is the series only about games in alpha\beta test
can we get some finished product and that is actually good??
Liam: Approximately 193 bumps in his grand prix
Woolie: Didn't count it cuz he's a 50cc scrublord, someone else do it.
i don't know how, but this appeared on my related vids. Liam we miss you so!
"I wish that there were other consoles that could be characters in this [meta-themed racing] game..."
Sounds like you're just wishing for a Nepnep racing game to me.
Liam, you can toggle items in Mario Kart 8 in versus mode and online. You can turn off coins or set to specific items, like mushrooms only, too.
Omg, I think I found a new way to torture people with those bump noises...
Bump n' Jump?
Let's do a drinking game. Take a shot everytime Liam hits a wall or falls out of bounds. I guarantee that your kidneys will explode within the hour.
Kinda fun idea, but the sliding around in this seems ridiculously awful.
What the fuck was that intro music
And where can I find it
JayFromTheBrick Exactly, I need to add it to my collection of New Synth Wave music / 80's themes.
It's from drift stage
Business Dinosaur seriously like k would put this song on my phone and drive from Boston to San Fran in the red Corvette drop top I wish i had lol
o54k4 Thank you. Time to look for it
JayFromTheBrick soundcloud.com/myroneofficial SOFTSTRED4LIFE
Ouya?
Is that a new game coming out for the N-gage?
The hypest bumpercars in all the land
Hawt Gahbidge.
Don't worry, Liam, the Nintendo NX may be your Ouya 2.
Adventures of Pip full LP when?
Been a while since the last drift.
Way to rise to the challenge and get lapped Liam!
I like to think im pretty into the indie scene. idfk who like 1/3 - 1/2 of them are. this is gettin DEEP.
Hey, anyone know what the opening song is?
FamiliarFacesChannel Darude - Sandstorm
pieisdelish1 Graci
I forget exactly which song, but it's from Myrone.
Found it. It's MYRONE - Exclusive Coupe.
FamiliarFacesChannel We're still waiting on that Predator-Puff follow up you hack.
Seriously though, love your work CR.
For Linux users, the game is getting a Linux port too.
so you play as Danny phantom in that whispering willows game? SICK!!!
So this game is like the Internet and Mario Kart had a child that was somehow less funny and charming than either of them
For those who heard the podcast today you should check out street fighter the animated series, it's good to make fun of with a bunch of friends and little known fact studio madhouse worked on it
lodestarrobot The super gay one?
Francis Farterburger YES..YESH
I keep on hearing the Steam chat notification noise in this game's sound effects.
Sick game thanks for giving it a look. Might pick it up soon.
God, the drifting and even turning in general look like complete ass in this game. xD
I wonder how long it'll take for matt to find out that predator is in Mortal Kombat now.
I really want another Super Best Friends Mario Kart Brawl video. I could watch that shit all day.
Aw yeah, more drift! I know that it probably isn't going to happen, but if this were ACTUALLY just an excuse to have a special F-Zero GX fisticuffs, I would be super stoked.
A towerfall character would make a nice addition.
The Golden Age of the Zaibatsu is over, now the shitty Indie Game Age begins!
The thing about these old style kart games is that you gotta remember you don't want to always be going as fast as you can. Sometimes you gotta know your limits and dodge the boost pad!
Great game, thanks for showing it guys.
Drinking game:
Every time you see an element that looks suspiciously like an element from the Mario Kart series, take a drink.
If you can survive for five minutes, you're officially immune to alcohol. Even if you used alcohol-free beer.
