      Not nearly far enough... The harm and torture done by Psychiatry (and the medical establishment in general) is still tremendous, but the general public and many patients are made to believe this is not the case. You can do the greatest harm when it is under the pretence of helping. And it goes so far that many doctors in the system genuinely believe they are helping. When they are pawns in an evil system.

    • @zibzibber6458
      @zibzibber6458 4 года назад +7

      As a former patient of mental “health care”, I can assure you psychiatrists are just out to prescribe the newest most profitable drugs and not actually for helping patients rehabilitate. Guinea pigs is what patients are with no real progress as far as I’ve seen after years of “treatment” just a foggy mind and frustrated sentiment towards these “doctors”

      @Ricardo Santos Simple, they don't have the solutions to everything. What may help one may not help another. This doesn't mean that doctors shouldn't be trusted. Genetics can also account for why doctors don't live longer lives. Currently, our medical knowledge may not be the greatest but as this video suggests it's getting better. Meaning we can help with some illness we just haven't got them all yet. This shouldn't discredit a doctors work, nor should a legit doctor who helps people be called a "Quack". Yes, trying to beat the devil out of someone is wrong but that's being corrected in lots of the world.

      Studies consistency support the idea that particular types of violent video games can induce aggression in individuals with an additive effect for individuals predisposed to violent behavior/impulses. However, it is argued these effects are short-term and may not generalize to the whole population. Regardless, it's possible to have an individual play violent video games and then engage in violent behavior as a consequence.

    The whole stigma with mental illnesses have existed for so long and it’s terrifying how it still exists till this day. The way most people treat the mentally ill is scary and wrong in so many ways. Hopefully times will change, as we have progressed further with the help of Psychological Studies and research, and more people being interested in those. Also, the fact that people with depression or any other mental issues speak up is also helping. Great video by the way, really goes to show the irony of it all; the ones treating the “mad” are mentally deranged themselves.

    ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) is still done, and is one of the few effective treatments for the most severe depression, the kind in which patients lay in bed until their hair becomes matted, etc. It is totally voluntary, and the only movement is in the patients toes. It came about because someone noticed that people with epilepsy have lower depression rates, and maybe if you can simulate seizures, it will help. I actually participated in ECTs as a Psychiatry resident. I remember one patient that improved so much with ECT that I did not recognize them in the waiting room on a follow up appointment. It is sensationalized in many false ways, and it is nothing anyone wants to do, but it is actually a safe and effective treatment that shouldn’t be demonized.

    I worked in a Mental institution for 7 years. I had two (we called them "clients") that went through electro-shock therapy. One went through it many years ago and described it as a horrible experience. The other was none verbal and went through it a few years ago, he didn't really seemed phased by it though. Times have changed a lot.

    Insulin was thought to be therapudic, they would give patients enough to put them in a coma and many died from it. They poisoned them. I know ECT has a high success rate, but I'll never be comfortable with doing that, as someone who has seizures, it puts the body through so much... I'll never be okay with it, even though I have severe treatment resistant depression

    I'm a person who have autism, which I find locking up autistic children and even adults in cages is definitely inhumane. When I was little my father would basically beat me with his belt, shoes or everything he could find. So that's why I have been developing some mental health problems such as anxiety and depression because the abuse I have receive from him. Even people with autism are most likely to suffer abuse and neglect more than the general population. As well as mental problems.

    ECT or electro convulsive therapy is not RARE in Sweden! It’s commonly used to combat regular depression at our psych wards!
    I have personally gone through 7 long regimens (not seven times but been prescribed the treatment 7 times, which means 1-2 months of it each time. A chocktreatment every other day for the prescribed time) before they diagnosed me as bipolar.
    ECT can especially if you don’t have normal depression (like in my case) cause brain damage and memory loss. I have entire years of memories that are no longer there and my short term memory is trash after having my brain fried so many times.
