You guys are lucky, when I was there in 2008 they didn’t have any context or any markers. The signs just used to say “Hindu God”. All of the small metal statues are the statues that were taking from temples as loot or stolen secretly. Those are the statues that the main rituals would be performed on. In large temples they may be gold or silver and in smaller temples they would be made of panch loha.

But London should have no moral obligation to India. Why should they keep artefacts and display in their museum?? Why not India?? Preservation is just a tactic word being used. The main aim of displaying these about milking money and contributing to britain's economy. Imagine someone making money out of your stolen goods?! How would you feel? Let's say if India fails to maintain these artefacts then it'll be their responsibility to get blamed for losses of cultural heritage. Each country must be held responsible to preserve its cultural site and if they fail, it is their loss, they need to be hold accountable and no one else. Britain stands no moral ground to have these things in their country regardless of whatever argument. Period.

There are a number of rare Indian artefacts in the British Museum, which if they weren't preserved they would have been lost through global flea markets. However, what is even more interesting is King Sahajan's Peacock Throne, whose value, as per sources, is greater than Taj Mahal, is now in Iran. It is said that the throne is combined with the Persian Naderi Peacock Throne. It's now kept in the national treasury of the Central Bank of Iran. Why do none of us demand such national asset to be brought back? Why don't politicians make a hue and cry about it? Why do we single out the British?
Preserve is just a tactic word thrown by britain's imperialist agenda that countries couldn't save their cultural artefacts. Main aim of british museum is that they're milking money of the things being displayed. Shareholders are owning it and contributing it to economy. Someone's precious and respectable heritage is for someone's prverse display of money. The agenda for britain presence in India was always about the economy greed and geopolitics motivated by racial eugenics. If a country can't maintain their artefacts, then it's their problem. Britain have no responsibility in taking someone other's home stuff. It is straight up stealing and making money rather than the agenda word "preservation".
One thing is clear. If those things are being remain in India, max items would have been missed or sold out privately. At least Britishers had displayed it safely in a building. So that as an Indian you could abel to see these.....
True, I have visited dozens of historical sites. They are not maintained well. If you visit Mysore palace and a few such places, you can buy old coins of the kings from street vendors. I found a few artefacts scattered here and there. We at least get to see our past through someone else's eyes.....
Haha, you're slightly wrong. British museum is making money out of displayed artefacts. Imagine making someone's stolen respectable artefacts being displayed for prverse hedonism of money. I can't go to your house and took your property and display in a museum just because you live in third world country where proper laws aren't enforced, right??? If a country isn't able to protect its artefacts it's their responsibility to get blamed for the losses. Britain stands no moral ground or responsibility in taking someone's stuff which they saying that they're saving artefacts, which is just a false pretext over minting coins. Instead the shareholders are milking and contributing to the economy.

Today, there are many successful Indians living in the UK - who are living a good life with equal opportunities.
Yes. They can have bad memories from history, but in present they should atleast feel apologetic for what their ancestors did. Go to Germany and you will know. There is genuine sensitivity around what Nazis did.
@@shreyajain789 True, but so many other countries like the USA, Portugal, Spain, France etc. were guilty of slavery as well, not just the UK. Every country has good and bad in its past.
