Constructive video, rather than complaining that the action button does just one thing!! Like other RUclipsrs, you demonstrated how to assign more than one action to the action button 👏👏👏
The action button is actually really well done although there’s one key thing that it’s missing! I want the ability to map my action button to a specific function per focus mode! While I’m at work, I wanted to be a voice recorder when it changes to sleep. I want to be the flashlight, gaming I want to be my mute switch etc. This is a huge missed opportunity, but hopefully they bring it with a later software update, because this will make it so much more powerful and useful!!! Having it being mapped to a specific function based contextually on what I’m doing is going to be insane!
You can have it changed based on focus mode! I walk through how to set that up later in the video. And if you have focus mode activate per location, you’re good to go!
After 5 years since I switched to Android, I've ordered an Iphone 15 Pro Max. Just after few your videos I see, your channel will be my go to place to tweak settings in my new phone.

Really thorough and well thought out video. I feel like the next evolutionary step is to make the action button customizable by location. Maybe the shortcut method can achieve this? Ie if I’m at the grocery store, bring up my shopping list. If I’m at the office, bring up my calendar. If I’m at my parents house, bring up my RING home security. It’s incredible how versatile a simple customizable button can be.
I've just managed to do this by setting up a custom focus mode which gets enabled when I'm at the climbing gym, then the action button checks to see if the Current focus name is "Climbing" and opens a particular app. Another one checks to see if my "Work" focus is enabled and opens my 2FA app.

Very nice video! Thanks for the shortcut. I have an iPhone 14 Pro so I have linked the shortcut to the double tap on the back function in the accessibility section. Not as straightforward as the 15 Pro but it does the trick
I used the Back Tap often on my previous iPhone models, good call! Also, I posted 13 more Shortcut ideas here: ruclips.net/video/opw5u7L3x6Y/видео.htmlsi=0L-wn_XIucrtbWBE
how did you get this to work because i did everything but when i access the shortcut the menu doesnt show up
Thanks Stephen! Super helpful!
This was so great. Got your download and built on it. Now I can arm/disarm the house and even set airplane mode on flight that also opens Spotify and puts my battery on low power. Well done.
Haha love it! Thanks 🙏🏻
Great video! Super helpful! Thank you!

Hi Stephen! Thank you! So far I have noticed that at some point during the day my Action Button will stop opening my Shortcuts menu. I will then have to restart my phone for it to work again. I have only noticed this when I set the Action button to “Shortcuts”. Once I switch it to something else (ex: Flashlight) it works normally. Have you or anyone else experienced this as well?
Thank You. You're explaination was clear and easy to follow.
Glad it was helpful!
I made a shortcut based on orientation of the phone thanks to the actions app. It’s very handy but it can be a pain trying to remember all the different available actions
Yes the orientation stuff is very cool, but I'm sticking with my menu 😅
Can you please talk about intermediate/advanced uses for multiple focus modes? I just use normal and sleep, and on normal i never have sound enabled and most notifications are disabled. I cannot seem to find a good use for multiple focus modes.
I got you! ruclips.net/video/OXcrGGUJU8o/видео.htmlsi=Z-OyJ6CURNWjfcs3
@@beardfm Thanks, I'll check it!
