While I agree with Daryl’s grief, our main crew has gone through so much and honestly went from trauma to trauma. We see in this show, it’s 10 years later and Carol is just now dealing with her grief over Sophia.
That shot of the running variants coming up the corridor was really cool. Damn of course the stuff with Isabelle happened this way. That sucked. It was a good TWD style death but I wanted to see her get to America.
You can't be mad at them deciding to have carol not tell Darryl that Rick is back. Imagine the scenes we'll get when they see each other, completely oblivious to the fact that Rick is alive and at commonwealth, that scene will be amazing. It would all be ruined if Carol just told Darryl casually in a conversation. That would've sucked
A redeux. What brought out the feelings from Daryl to Isa? How did he get hooked? How in was he for a relationship with Isa--I'm thinking he was invested in Laurent, she was the two-fer. The "legendary reunion" that Mr. Reedus mentioned in interviews left me feeling deju vu--nice warm real but topper? The two of them have some fancy sparkage, some kind of wonderful and history to boot. He did not seem very upset when they got to wherever they were staying the night and he told her he never stopped trying to get back to her and that he was glad she came on a feeling. As to Didi's part of the quest, I believe she appears with her message to finally absolve the pain and guilt of Carol losing Sophia and the other children. It was like a Mother hug, healing Carol after all this time.
Loved you reactions! I believe Isabela is gone because Carol is back. I guess the rule is you can only have one leading lady at a time. Remember Carol was intended to be with Daryl from 1x1 so Isabela was a placeholder but a delightfully pleasant breath of fresh air in her role. Maybe they will put Daryl and Carol together in the future. I’d love to see him back with Connie when everyone regroups back home. I don’t have any complaints about the plot or action scenes.

If she was talking about Rick coming back with that little emotion it'd be extremely strange. Never thought it was about that and if it turns out it is and that she is hiding it for now, that'd just be incredibly disappointing.

I think Carol is lying about saying it was a feeling that "came back". Once finding out that Daryl was in France, how and why, she opted to not tell him about Rick.

I really think Carol lied to Daryl about that radio call. Just like Michonne waited to tell Rick about RJ. He’s just not in the right head space to hear that news.
Facts. Like let Daryl have a love interest! He deserves a wife and kid too, like Rick. I don't know if they're trying to push Daryl and Carol together, but that would be so weird after all this time.
The show 100% wanted the audience to think Carol said Rick came back. They were counting on it generating a lot of buzz for TOWL and TBOC. However, showrunner David Zabel did say in press interviews during last year's NYCC that what Carol said wasn't what anyone was thinking, and that it had to do with her own personal journey (which we now know is the Sophia trauma/PTSD coming back to haunt her). The problem is, that info never got circulated around the fandom, so everyone kept expecting it to be Rick. The show never should have teased it when they had no intention of paying it off. It doesn't bother me, but I can understand why it bothers others.
I really liked Isabelle, and her relationship with Daryl. At the same time, I'm still a huge Connie/Daryl shipper, and noticed that this spinoff deliberately mentioned Connie's name twice. Carol mentioned just her and Judith to Daryl, in this ep 4, and Daryl mentioned her to Laurent season 1. There's still hope for a lasting Daryl love life.
Me too! I won't accept Daryl with anyone else but Connie lol so I was pleased when Isabelle died, I didn't like her character and I didn't believe she had chemistry with Daryl, I got the "she likes him more than he likes her vibe" nothing will compare to his chemistry with Connie.
@MistahJay7 Yeah, well ... this is a zombie show, after all. There's a lot you have to suspend, including children & the elderly, & how vulnerqble they are. I can at least appreciate that Connie, most of the time, had her signing sister with her. Ultimately, I still LOVED her interaction with Daryl.

This episode killed all interest and excitement I had about this series. Isabelle is what made this show feel different and killing her basically ends the show for me. Almost feels like Fears level of writing all over again and I've already seen all 6 episodes. TWD is in a perpetual cycle of building up plot points and stories just for them to go absolutely no where with it. Like what was the point of Genet and her followers with the Variants are we supposed to just move on and forget about them now? Genet and her followers is like the Reapers arc all over again.
Completely, 100% agree. Isabelle's death was so disrespectful, especially for a character that's a literal co-lead! All my love for this show died instantly, and honestly, I think I'm done with the TWD universe. This was such a massive disappointment. They had everything going for them, and they threw it all away in a single episode...
It’s not the same location, but very similar. This is Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, France. HOTD uses St. Michael’s Mount, near Cornwall, England. Similar names and similar structures, but different places.
The ep had issues in the first half also daryl seems so focused on finding the boy I can't and won't attempt to spell his name but he's focused on finding him and Carol sees that so that's why she didn't say anything if you paid attention to it lol not that it was nothing she's lied in this season to get where she wanted to be rn she lied to get him to do what he needed
Yeah, guys, I'm with you on this one. Isabelle's death is a total bummer; she shd go to Commonwealth or Spain. She was good for Daryl. Total cost cutting measure. Old couple scenario bit of filler, cda made it more interesting with a Genet chase. Killing Genet felt a bit early (i.e. offing two French ladies in same ep) but I get one villain works better. I would give it a 6 out of 10. Good dialogue between Daryl and Carol. Good review. 👍
Daryl as a character deserves better than gaining another love interest and then losing her in the next episode. I hate how the writers treat him. Every character has something except him. Ever since Rick left his only character arc has been looking for him. This time it was different and they wasted it. Now it's just him trying to get back home with nothing of his own. They could've ended it with them all going back to America but they killed Isabelle off because the writers didn't think she and Carol could co-exist. So now with her gone they're free to milk this show forever since Season 3 is based in Spain. With Isabelle gone the show can go into dozens of different directions then just ending it. She was driving the plot forward. Now it's just the Carol and Daryl world tour show with them going to another country to get involved in another conflict with new Spanish allies and Spanish villains to encounter. And you already know they're going to make a season 4 with the trouble they get into there. Isabelle as a character deserved better as well. She never got anything at the end and neither did Daryl. The whole season 1 was completely pointless given how this season ended. I'm not watching season 3 of them milking it with Carol and Daryl having plot armor in Spain since they're untouchable at this point.
It’s always so weird to me when people expect all plot points need to be resolved in the same episode where they happened… not understanding something is fine but being angry things aren’t explained to you completely and clearly before the episode ends is so odd.
I knew Isabella was going to die, but thought it would be endof the season. When I seen the blood trail though, I knew it was over. I also had ZERO idea Gennet was going to die this early. And yeah, some of things were so cheesy like blowing the door open then on top of it not a single person shooting Carol. lol. And the old couple at the end, as soon as we seen how nice they were, you can just tell something was going to wrong. I was expecting both of them to be bad, not just him. I still think at the very end Ash (the pilot) will die and they will stay there. OR Carol will die at the end in a big twist.
So the whole “feeling” thing annoyed me at first but imagine how much more it will pay off having Daryl and Carol go back and Rick is the one who opens the gate. Also I should’ve read the comments first…everyone pretty much said the same thing…😂😂🤦🏻♀️
Hated seeing Issabelle die alrady. Also hated Carol saying it was a feeling that came back, not a person. What was the point of making it sound like a big deal? I still don't think she knows about Rick and Michonne being back. I think she'd tell Daryl to get him back home. The whole season was leaked so I already watched em and will say that episodes 4, 5, 6 are the best episodes of the series.

I heard a rumor that Clémence Poesy asked to not be in season three so she could go do other things. That would be a reason to forgive them for writing her off. Otherwise it is kinda lame. There was a recent interview where Melissa says something about Carol coming in and “c*ck blocking”‘Daryl. I laughed pretty hard at that one.

They kinda messed up putting dead City a few years ahead of the other shows. Season two is another year time jump so Ricks been back for years but on Daryl he isn't. Gonna be hard to join the timelines if they ever do a reunion
If it had been Rick she was talking about it would've been even weirder than what it actually was. She would never have been so monotone if she was talking about something as big as Rick coming back. No idea why anyone would think it was about Rick.

@@BaddMedicine In my opinion it would be extremely weird if she was that emotionless talking about Rick coming back. Obviously it was a tease to get people to think it, but it wouldn't make sense. She would also probably have lead with that instead of starting out with smalltalk and saying "You know, pretty quiet here." Might still be where they're going with it and that Carol for some reason is hiding it for now, but I'd be very disappointed.

Humans are A highly endangered species at this point (with it being just about 13 years give or take in this show, and they still are during Dead City which is almost 19 years in)! The CRM and these guys are like “ We are humanity’s last hope,” then proceed to wipe out people in droves! Negan is absolutely right when he says that people are a resource.
I finally saw TWD for the first time this year. I binged it (with a short rage quit pause when they killed my Glenn.) Tried but couldn't watch Fear and World Beyond. Am now keeping up with the current spinoffs. I love the character work, but the narrative conveniences are so bad. I accept it because I know the writers are just trying to move pieces to get to where the real stories are but Jaysus, it's rough.
Best episode by far, great to see the dynamic duo together again. Won't really miss Isabelle at all, she was a dull place holder for Carol. Only Walking Dead death I STILL mourn is Shiva's.
I found her very dull as well...not even comparing her to carol coz I was excited for Daryl to be paired up with new characters in this show but she just wasn't memorable and I didn't believe she had any chemistry with Daryl
Remember. This is the season of lying Carol. She lied, I bet anything that she was going to tell Daryl that Rick was back but, now it’s not the time to tell Daryl about Rick. There is no way the writers would have made it so dumb about a feeling she had. Hopefully it’s revealed in episode 6
What in your most creative interpretation would keep Carol from telling Daryl if Rick had come back if that would matter at this time? I cannot imagine any reason for her to withhold such information. She has Always Sought Out Daryl when her scary thoughts came back. He was her medium for dealing with her scary thoughts. She needed him to breathe, to live. She said things got quiet in the Commonwealth and that with Daryl being away, she was left with nothing but the ghosts in her past.
Oh this ep...I did not care for it for several reasons, but I do respect folks that perhaps did. To me, the writing changed. First, we lose Isabelle in a silly way. While she dies she still says firefly referencing what Daryl said & I will remind yall no way, no how a southern fella from the east side of US would ever not call them lightening bugs. Still bugs me lol. Then, the big call from Carol that was so hotly debated was tossed out to be no person, but a feeling. Then, & this perhaps is one of my bigger issues...when Carol who is pretending to be Isabelle ( a native French speaker) is alone in the kitchen w older lady cooking why are they speaking English. The lady would have immediately started a conversation in French. Thought for sure, Carol would get found out as not Isabelle. The couple knew who she was supposed to be from Laurent, but they never not once spoke French to her...uugh..what is happening w this show?? I'm trying so hard to like this show & that makes me not happy cause I loved the first season. If I gotta try to like it, then I fear a whole fear thing happening again. And I just mentioned a few things, forgot bout the whole Carol is able to run over and not get shot to jump into Codrons jeep thing in beginning! Just uugh & wtf?? The ghost 's are back? Big deal! How extremely disappointing! Did they really not know that it sounded like ick's back when they filmed the scene. If they did know, then that's really messed up to do to the fans, unless there is something more to it and she'll tell him later. She could have just said it's back. Maybe the timeline's off and she left before Rick even came back and, in that case, I imagine that after Rick hears, that he'll want to go search for Daryl with Michonne. Maybe Morgan's back and all three of them go looking.
a story with a constant no stakes type formula for the main characters isn't a good story to invest in🤷♂ its like after nearly 15 years daryl and carols storylines are on repeat🤣
I’m so angry they killed Isabelle. Credit to Clémence Poésy who played the role beautifully. And while I love Carol, there is no sexual chemistry AT ALL between her and Daryl. Of course Isabelle was perfect for him. They just can’t let Daryl find any happiness can they?

You can skip the first game as it's a bit outdated (you could watch a recap) but all the others and the 4th one specifically are masterpieces, extremely entertaining and made by the same studio who made the last of us

I hate to say it but Carol's addition has ruined the show. She just doesn't fit in, her scenes are like sleepwalking, the dialogue is dull, and I love this show. It would have been better to pair Daryl and Codron, or continue with the Isabel story until the end, have her choose her vows over leaving with Daryl. The scene at the door and her waiting for something to happen, then its blasted down for her and she drives into a hail of bullets? And why was she the only survivor from the machine guns? A few more in the back should have survived and then the walkers would have attacked them while she escaped. Its like they threw this together at the last minute when they found out she had decided to join the cast. She looks so uncomfortable. I miss seeing Paris in ruins with walkers, they should have stayed there.
You know there's ways to write your main characters to not be put in situations where they require so much non sensical plot armor. It's called good writing
I really didn’t like this episode overall. Worst of the show for me. The way they killed off Isabelle in such a rubbish way. They could’ve had her choose to stay behind and for Laurent to go to America or something, or at least have her die saving Daryl or Carol. It felt insulting to her character, as though, right Carol is here, so we’re done with you. I enjoyed the latter half with the couple more though, although offing genet too in this ep was a surprise. Oh and I’m pleased Carol didn’t say Rick on the radio. That always seemed too easy to me and would be anticlimactic, although what she actually said is lame. Don’t agree TOWL needed that line for hype though. The return of Michonne and more importantly for this universe Rick, was enough hype all on its own.
@@BaddMedicine but Daryl isn’t thinking about Rick. Norman even said he isn’t for being reunited with Rick. At least not for a while. He is enjoying getting to do his own thing outside of being in Rick’s shadow.

Such a stupid episode, season has been poor compared to the first, killing off Isabelle was a huge mistake, best character in season 1 who helped make Daryl a interesting character again and reduced to secondary character and then killed this season just to make way for Carol when they could have found a way to feature all 3 as leads, mental as Clémence Poésy acting is levels above anyone else on the show too, and the Carol and Daryl dynamic is boring now after 14 years and over done. Hard to care very little about future episodes or spins offs when we know as soon as they want to reunite OG characters they will kill off the new characters instead of putting new and old all together to make things more interesting, create new stories and dynamics,
They exaggerated a bit with Carol, she was bullet proof in this episode. I am tired of watching her being thay overpowered. Hated her from TWD. Really unpleasant character.

Remember Carol was intended to be with Daryl from 1x1 so Isabela was a placeholder but a delightfully pleasant breath of fresh air in her role. Maybe they will put Daryl and Carol together in the future. I’d love to see him back with Connie when everyone regroups back home. I don’t have any complaints about the plot or action scenes.

The show 100% wanted the audience to think Carol said Rick came back. They were counting on it generating a lot of buzz for TOWL and TBOC. However, showrunner David Zabel did say in press interviews during last year's NYCC that what Carol said wasn't what anyone was thinking, and that it had to do with her own personal journey (which we now know is the Sophia trauma/PTSD coming back to haunt her). The problem is, that info never got circulated around the fandom, so everyone kept expecting it to be Rick. The show never should have teased it when they had no intention of paying it off. It doesn't bother me, but I can understand why it bothers others.
I think Daryl is very upset about Isabelle but has not let it out yet. Maybe he will be able to have a good cry once he finds Laurent.
I really liked Isabelle, and her relationship with Daryl. At the same time, I'm still a huge Connie/Daryl shipper, and noticed that this spinoff deliberately mentioned Connie's name twice. Carol mentioned just her and Judith to Daryl, in this ep 4, and Daryl mentioned her to Laurent season 1. There's still hope for a lasting Daryl love life.
Me too! I won't accept Daryl with anyone else but Connie lol so I was pleased when Isabelle died, I didn't like her character and I didn't believe she had chemistry with Daryl, I got the "she likes him more than he likes her vibe" nothing will compare to his chemistry with Connie.

This episode killed all interest and excitement I had about this series. Isabelle is what made this show feel different and killing her basically ends the show for me. Almost feels like Fears level of writing all over again and I've already seen all 6 episodes. TWD is in a perpetual cycle of building up plot points and stories just for them to go absolutely no where with it. Like what was the point of Genet and her followers with the Variants are we supposed to just move on and forget about them now? Genet and her followers is like the Reapers arc all over again.

Yeah, guys, I'm with you on this one. Isabelle's death is a total bummer; she shd go to Commonwealth or Spain. She was good for Daryl. Total cost cutting measure. Old couple scenario bit of filler, cda made it more interesting with a Genet chase. Killing Genet felt a bit early (i.e. offing two French ladies in same ep) but I get one villain works better. I would give it a 6 out of 10. Good dialogue between Daryl and Carol. Good review. 👍
Daryl as a character deserves better than gaining another love interest and then losing her in the next episode. I hate how the writers treat him. Every character has something except him. Ever since Rick left his only character arc has been looking for him. This time it was different and they wasted it. Now it's just him trying to get back home with nothing of his own. They could've ended it with them all going back to America but they killed Isabelle off because the writers didn't think she and Carol could co-exist. So now with her gone they're free to milk this show forever since Season 3 is based in Spain. With Isabelle gone the show can go into dozens of different directions then just ending it. She was driving the plot forward. Now it's just the Carol and Daryl world tour show with them going to another country to get involved in another conflict with new Spanish allies and Spanish villains to encounter. And you already know they're going to make a season 4 with the trouble they get into there. Isabelle as a character deserved better as well. She never got anything at the end and neither did Daryl. The whole season 1 was completely pointless given how this season ended. I'm not watching season 3 of them milking it with Carol and Daryl having plot armor in Spain since they're untouchable at this point.

It’s always so weird to me when people expect all plot points need to be resolved in the same episode where they happened… not understanding something is fine but being angry things aren’t explained to you completely and clearly before the episode ends is so odd.
I knew Isabella was going to die, but thought it would be endof the season. When I seen the blood trail though, I knew it was over. I also had ZERO idea Gennet was going to die this early. And yeah, some of things were so cheesy like blowing the door open then on top of it not a single person shooting Carol. lol. And the old couple at the end, as soon as we seen how nice they were, you can just tell something was going to wrong. I was expecting both of them to be bad, not just him.
I still think at the very end Ash (the pilot) will die and they will stay there. OR Carol will die at the end in a big twist.

All this meaningless and unnecessary death. Humans are A highly endangered species at this point (with it being just about 13 years give or take in this show, and they still are during Dead City which is almost 19 years in)! The CRM and these guys are like “ We are humanity’s last hope,” then proceed to wipe out people in droves! Negan is absolutely right when he says that people are a resource.
Why would TOWL need extra hype? The showrunner of DD is not Gimple and it was his choice, they wanted the hype for THEIR show.
I finally saw TWD for the first time this year. I binged it (with a short rage quit pause when they killed my Glenn.) Tried but couldn't watch Fear and World Beyond. Am now keeping up with the current spinoffs. I love the character work, but the narrative conveniences are so bad. I accept it because I know the writers are just trying to move pieces to get to where the real stories are but Jaysus, it's rough.
Best episode by far, great to see the dynamic duo together again. Won't really miss Isabelle at all, she was a dull place holder for Carol. Only Walking Dead death I STILL mourn is Shiva's.

Out Daryl when her scary thoughts came back. He was her medium for dealing with her scary thoughts. She needed him to breathe, to live. She said things got quiet in the Commonwealth and that with Daryl being away, she was left with nothing but the ghosts in her past.
Oh this ep...I did not care for it for several reasons, but I do respect folks that perhaps did. To me, the writing changed. First, we lose Isabelle in a silly way. While she dies she still says firefly referencing what Daryl said & I will remind yall no way, no how a southern fella from the east side of US would ever not call them lightening bugs. Still bugs me lol. Then, the big call from Carol that was so hotly debated was tossed out to be no person, but a feeling. Then, & this perhaps is one of my bigger issues...when Carol who is pretending to be Isabelle ( a native French speaker) is alone in the kitchen w older lady cooking why are they speaking English. The lady would have immediately started a conversation in French. Thought for sure, Carol would get found out as not Isabelle. The couple knew who she was supposed to be from Laurent, but they never not once spoke French to her...uugh..what is happening w this show?? I'm trying so hard to like this show & that makes me not happy cause I loved the first season. If I gotta try to like it, then I fear a whole fear thing happening again. If they did know, then that's really messed up to do to the fans, unless there is something more to it and she'll tell him later. She could have just said it's back. Maybe the timeline's off and she left before Rick even came back and, in that case, I imagine that after Rick hears, that he'll want to go search for Daryl with Michonne. Maybe Morgan's back and all three of them go looking.

I hate to say it but Carol's addition has ruined the show. She just doesn't fit in, her scenes are like sleepwalking, the dialogue is dull, and I love this show. It would have been better to pair Daryl and Codron, or continue with the Isabel story until the end, have her choose her vows over leaving with Daryl. The scene at the door and her waiting for something to happen, then its blasted down for her and she drives into a hail of bullets? And why was she the only survivor from the machine guns? A few more in the back should have survived and then the walkers would have attacked them while she escaped. Its like they threw this together at the last minute when they found out she had decided to join the cast. She looks so uncomfortable.
I miss seeing Paris in ruins with walkers, they should have stayed there.

I really didn’t like this episode overall. Worst of the show for me. The way they killed off Isabelle in such a rubbish way. They could’ve had her choose to stay behind and for Laurent to go to America or something, or at least have her die saving Daryl or Carol. It felt insulting to her character, as though, right Carol is here, so we’re done with you. I enjoyed the latter half with the couple more though, although offing genet too in this ep was a surprise. Oh and I’m pleased Carol didn’t say Rick on the radio. That always seemed too easy to me and would be anticlimactic, although what she actually said is lame. Don’t agree TOWL needed that line for hype though. The return of Michonne and more importantly for this universe Rick, was enough hype all on its own.

Such a stupid episode, season has been poor compared to the first, killing off Isabelle was a huge mistake, best character in season 1 who helped make Daryl a interesting character again and reduced to secondary character and then killed this season just to make way for Carol when they could have found a way to feature all 3 as leads, mental as Clémence Poésy acting is levels above anyone else on the show too, and the Carol and Daryl dynamic is boring now after 14 years and over done.
