For me the problem was the stupid way Merc setup the cover “clamp” mechanism. It hits the coil wires the way most people remove it, damaging the coil wires (or in my case the plug boot). The cover actually grounds to the block via a metal clip on the cowling (causing the damaged wire(s) to arc to the housing) and the metal clip that swivels to lock it in place. Replacing the coil wires and removing the mechanism that attaches the cowl to the block and fashioning a different way to hold the cowl in place fixes the problem without having to replace the coils, assuming they haven’t been damaged already.

I’ve changed out both of my coils and plugs motor runs fine at low rpm’s but the moment you open it up it starts clacking and bogging out I believe it’s timing any chance you could make a video on timing adjustments
