I think it's a little dramatic to call them the worst NHL franchise ever when they were only in Atlanta for 12 years and won a division title. Not great by any means but definitely not the WORST OF ALL TIME.
The Thrashers weren't that bad actually as ownership was the main problem, in the mid 2000s Atlanta had better attendance than Boston and Chicago. The problem was that the ownership group that bought the Hawks and Thrashers only wanted the Hawks but were told either you get both or neither so they bought both but only really invested in the Hawks even talent wise as there were times they would tell NHL players they didnt have the money to pay them what they wanted but then give that same money and then some to a mediocre NBA player
