Bro Fr whenever I see those shorts talking abt “women vs girls” in Kpop I always get second hand embarrassment. And it’s mostly like the female idols who are perceived as cute that are in the girls section and it’s like 💀 are women not allowed to be cute?? Tf
I agree w ur last point. The amount of Armies/Tae Stans I’ve seen hating on Jen is just horrendous. They acting like Jennie is holding a gun to Taehyung’s head or something 😭 (Blinks/Jensetters are also being incredibly vile towards Tae)

I actually love your last confession because I don’t hear this take a lot and I actually agree with it for multiple reason. I also believe feelings of jealousy are normal to an extent especially in an industry like kpop which is built on the interaction and relationship between fans and idols. These companies literally capitalize on it, that’s why they make so many variety shows, game shows, vlogs, etc, they want you to ‘fall’ for those idols and consider them apart of your life so developing a crush, as unrealistic as it is really, still makes sense. I also think a lot of kpop fans are very young, most teenagers or young adults and are at the age of exploring their feelings of attraction, sexuality, etc, so it only makes sense that they could develope certain feelings for their favorite idols. These idols & companies also entertain them by constantly catering to what their fans want so again, it only makes sense. I do however still believe idols should be allowed to date, including publicly... I think reinforcing the idea that while these crushes are possible and understandable, they are still unrealistic at the end of the day... I think if dating was less hush hush we’d see less of those crushes being taken to the extreme because fans would have no other choice but to make peace with it. So yes, I think it’s normal to have a crush on your idols but it’s not normal to become possessive of them and also hateful if they start dating someone.

In my opinion, i honestly think it's just downright rude and disrespectful to always be commenting on someone's body. I swear, kpop fans are way too aware of every ounce of oxygen an idol drops/gains it's insane. I mean, yes you're going to notice when they gain or lose weight they're in the spotlight all time but its just completely unnecessary to bring it up everytime they're on screen. I may be just dumb but if it weren't for dives constantly bringing up Liz's gain weight i honestly wouldn't have noticed it and it's this obsessive and unclassy behavior that causes companies to force idols into extreme diets. What they're doing is wrong of course and I'm not about to justify that. However, I also think that sometimes we just need to shut the fuck up about certain stuff because we're don't know these idols and we don't know what they're going through or dealing with.

You're so right, obviously we can all agree that fatshaming is disgusting, but even those people who bash idols for being skinny are terrible. The thing is, idols are aware of their bodies and if they have eating disorders the last thing they need is seeing everyone talking about it online. Do people think they're helping their idols by making a tweet about their bodies? I feel like weight is really one of those things we shouldn't talk about because it does more harm than good.

@@soft4taeng Yes, you made a really good point. Honestly, even assuming that an idol has an eating disorder is very intrusive behavior in my opinion. Because even if they do, as a random stranger on the internet, what's your unasked for input going to do to help? Body image is a topic that should be discussed with clear boundaries and lines even between friends so I just don't understand what gives these crazy fans the audacity to nitpick everything. The worst part about it is that they also have no shame. Like there were people online literally discussing whether wonyoung gets her period or not. And then theywonder why idols get defensive or emotional when someone talks about their weight.

To be honest it's not foreign idols debuting itself that bothers me it's just the way people respond to it. like if your gonna point it out and surround the idol and their group around the fact that it's a non-Asian debuting then u clearly don't actually care about the music or the idol themselves. Like people say we should normalize these idols debuting but if you're gonna make a big deal about then that's not normalizing it.
Edit: I thought this was obvious but I guess it's not, but when I mean foreign idols in kpop I mean non-korean idols (eg. Chinese, Japanese, thai etc.) because obviously these things do happen to those idols alot. So I'm not just talking about non-aisan idols but just non-korean idols.

People misuse/exaggerate words/terms like these. Normalize (in my own words, so uhh, maybe im also wrong LOL) I think it means "something unusual by the standards of a certain community/people that shouldn't be unusual in the first place. Hence, they shouldn't care/make a big deal that much when it actually happens, this also includes very positive reactions to it happening - because ur technically not normalizing it." Honestly, I don't like it when stans demand for their idols to have more lines. I understand wanting your bias to have more lines, but these stans don't take the idols feelings into consideration. What if that idol doesn't want alot of lines, what if they don't like the song, what if they like dancing more than singing? These stans are also probably putting alot of pressure on these idols. Let's take Sakura for example, she's been in the industry for a long time but the vocal training she had was really bad, and it's hard to grow out of habits you've known since you were a kid and obviously stans were upset that she didn't have alot of lines in Izone, but I'm pretty sure they understood why that was the case. But now that she's finally getting proper lessons, these stans are now demanding for her to get more lines despite the fact that she's not had these lessons for a long time and it would take a long time for her to grow out of her old singing habits. Sakura herself has said that she didn't want alot of lines yet fans are still going against her wishes. I don't like assuming idols true feelings but I don't think it's a stretch to say that she probably feels like she isn't good enough for her fans( she is good enough and even better ) when the main problem is her fans not giving her enough time and going against what she wants. They also fail to take into consideration that the song had to actually sound good and if the idol can't sing that song or doesn't match the concept then they obviously shouldn't be having alot of lines for it.

I get your point and I think it’s stupid that foreign idols are often only reduced down to their ethnicity when they’re all very talented at what they do, but it’s ignorant to think that there are only Koreans in Korea, when there are people of all ethnicities and backgrounds who live there and were born there. Why shouldn’t the industry become more diverse to reflect that? It also opens up the talent pool tenfold when you’re not excluding someone from training and debuting just because they aren’t Asian. People heavily focus on idols of different race and make it a big deal because it’s not common right now, but the more it happens the less remarkable it will be, and that’s the goal of actual diversity: make having people of all different looks and backgrounds so normalized that it’s not anything to gawk at.

Chaeyoung knew what she was doing. Everyone needs to stop trying to defend her it’s actually getting wild that people would put their idols before their morals. Because they’re a kpop idol they can do what they want? The excuses make no sense. The shirt is hard to get because it is no longer manufactured and it was manufactured long ago. The shirt goes for anywhere between 500$-2k$ and is hard to find. This ain’t no stylist issue cause she wore this in her every day life and clearly bought and owns the shirt. And the fact that you can also buy the shirt WITHOUT the swastika. Too many factors played in here. There is literally no excuse. I also lost my respect for chaeyoung. I biased her before this issue. (Not the exact same but still with the symbol and the same person). If it can be sold online for cheap who's to say she didn't just thrift it.
Second of all, she wore it in public surrounded by not only other twice members but their staff and team too. Somebody had to even take a picture of her with the shirt on. Surely if they were aware of her shirt they would call her out and make her change not let her take pictures and post them online. However, they did not. Are we going to say everyone in the vicinity is a nazi too? It just isn't logical.
Do I think Chaeyoung deserves criticism for her actions? Absolutely. Should she be held accountable so cases like these don't become normalised? Of course! But should we try and paint her to be a hateful nazi who would put not only her career but her groups career in jeopardy because she's evil? I don't think so.

(in this case kpop industry comprises of mostly koreans which make them the majority). The problem with your first confession is the fact that you dislike seeing non asians debuting in kpop groups but in your description for the confession you talked about the kpop fans ?? your problem is with the fans so you should've said that you dislike how fans only talk about the ethnicity, that's not the the idol's problems, that's just the fans' problem. For Chaeyoung I don't know what you're talking about because it's definitely possible to not know all of the symbols involved, and she only wore the shirt ONCE. She hasn't had any other incidents so you must be confusing her with someone else. Literally RIGHT infront of jype building there is a Buddhist swastika she walks past almost every day for years so it's not strange that she confused the symbols. I can't dictate the way you feel about it but the fact of the matter is that she's made this mistake ONE time, immediately apologized, then later issued a company official apology, and hasn't repeated it since.
Humans make mistakes, and I find it strange we don't allow idols room to make those and to learn from it. She wore merch from a band she likes, saw a symbol she associates with Buddhism, and didn't think anything of it. People keep trying to turn it into something malicious when literally everyone who knows a single thing about Chaeyoung including people who know her irl, know she's a HUGE softie who advocates for peace and love constantly. This girl has literally no mean bone in her body, and I'm not exaggerating that. The rest of Twice members don't even want to play on the same team as her during games because of how mellow and noncompetitive she is naturally. She was just ignorant... I'm tired of people calling her a nazi.

My whole thing about Chae is that its okay for people to be upset about her actions but i hated that people were spreading info that couldnt be confirmed nor denied
Like people saying what korea teaches you about the holocaust and then other people saying that those people are wrong
That she never went to school because of idol training
That her statement said she didnt know what the symbol was at all when thats not what her statement said
People saying she paid hella money for the shirt, but i googled the shirt and found it for 25 usd on the first page of google
And then i learned through that whole incident that the symbol isnt even a swastika, that h*tler stole the symbol, rotated it, and called it a hakenkreuz
And apparently swastika's are more common than not to see in asia because of bhudist temples
So i personally believe that she saw the symbol and mistook it fot the swastika not the hakenkreuz, but the way the incident was handled didnt help and i think thats a little bit more on JYPE
Shes wrong for wearing the shirt, JYPE was wrong for trying not to make it a big deal because they were gonna be on tour soon. If anything, they shouldve made a bigger deal out of it BECAUSE they were about to go on tour

Like I know JYPE won't so far as to police their everyday wear but I think they completely dropped the ball on how they handled everything

This was such a good video and I agree with a lot of the opinions on it!
    5. I totally agree with this one and also another fandom that gives “not like the other girls” vibes to me well maybe not girls but just in general is army. I’m an army but a lot of armies don’t know much about other K-pop groups and it shows. It’s fine if bts is the only K-pop group you Stan and if you don’t know that much about other K-pop groups but a lot of armies act like bts is the only good group and K-pop and the only one that makes meaningful music and have had great achievements when there are so many groups that make meaningful music and have broken records and had wonderful achievements not just bts.
I also notice how a lot of kpop stans seem to struggle to hype up their group without bringing down other groups at the same time. Like instead of just saying “x group has such good vocals” they’ll say “x groups vocals are better than y groups vocals” or “x group will outsing your faves” I think it’s dumb because it’s not hard to compliment your group without bringing down another? Like I think there would be so much less fighting if people just stopped comparing all the time.
    6. I totally get you because I’m the same way. The only soloist I Stan is dpr Ian and he’s not really K-pop he’s more indie I guess I’m not sure but besides him I’m only really a casual listener to soloists.
    8. I’m a multistan and I agree with this. It takes a lot of time to start stanning a new group. Not only do you get into their music but you start watching their content and having to memorize all the members names and faces etc and also keep up with what they’re doing. And then wanting to Stan a new group on top of stanning other groups is just a lot. I haven’t stanned a lot of K-pop groups recently, I started getting into billlie victon and xg but I don’t even consider myself a true fan of them yet because I’m still not fully knowing their names and faces or being into their discography. I want to Stan more groups of course and it is fun to look at new groups but it can be a lot at times. So I completely understand only stanning one
    9. I also think it’s alright to feel a bit jealous if your idol starts dating. Tbh personally I feel happy for idols when they start dating like for example taehyung and Jennie I’ve been an army for awhile and I used to be a blink but I wasn’t at all really jealous of either of them but also neither of them are my biases in the group so maybe I’d feel different if jimin for example started dating since he’s my bias in bts. But there’s nothing wrong with it but as you said the problem comes when someone lets that jealousy cause them to do and say malicious things to these idols.
Overall I agree with basically all the opinions you said and I really enjoy ur unpopular opinion videos because you leave no crumbs everytime lol

The first confession threw me off a bit but there is nothing wrong with that. Me personally I really want to see more POC considering that K-pop is kind’ve made off of them. But I do particularly dislike when the foreign member is just the punching bag of the group.
Chaeyoung, I actually cannot stand her but I’m not going to drag and make false rumors about her. Personally I hate the people who try to force the “all or nothing” type thing (meaning if you don’t like one member might as well not stan the group) it’s okay if I don’t like her I’m not gonna unstan the group just because I don’t like someone in particular.
Confession 5 I don’t like when fandoms try to be different or act like the group is different from other groups. I don’t like when they think they’re a superior fandom than others, so they bring each other down. I think it’s dumb because I would want the best for other groups I don’t know why people have to be so negative and act like everything is a competition when it isn’t.
This is irrelevant but I just wanna talk about these Kpop news channels and how they’re so biased. The Yena and Yuqi “I don’t rodrigo” situation wasn’t even as bad as these channels try to make it. One channel in particular were bringing both of the girls down but did not once mention the company who went through with it?
JayPark situation the channel completely defended him when clearly there was proof saying he was innocent when he wasn’t
Now recently I’ve seen a channel go after Yeh Shuhua for doing playing harmlessly with Yuqi? They were completely victim blaming her and making her seem like the bad guy, and repeatedly saying Yuqi absolutely hated it? They’re friends not enemies

Her shirt was also not - only - a swastika shirt, it was a vivienne westwood shirt of sid vicious with the swastika shirt on it. I would like to know what people thought of him wearing that and vivienne westwood making that shirt. also because the only other swastika shirt of hers i found had written DESTROY above it. So this is obviously not about anyone being a nazi but the discussion if and how its acceptable to depict the swastika symbol. Personally I dont really find a punk swastika shirt that bad because its very obvious its not showing the beliefs of the person wearing it and specifically someone asian might not be connected that much to the history of it.

This is really controversial but my confession that i don't really mind debuting minors as long as they're getting clean and non sexual concepts .. people be acting like minors are not complete people that is worthy of respect and they dont have dreams and their own life.. and I've listened to other people explaining why they against their debut and they will mostly say to protect them from the toxic industry and protect their mental health and i don't understand how YOU bullying them is good for their mental health in any way 💀 or its a waste of their childhood and they be having 100 times happier childhood than most people did .. you act like normal young people would never experience criticism and hate in their life they only will if they debuted as idols ..

I agreed with everything you said until here "you act like normal young people would never experience criticism and hate in their life they only will if they debuted as idols.
People act like that because it's true. Normal young people wont go through AS MUCH criticism and hate in their lives, compared to underage idols. Everything else you said was totally fine, they can debut with good concepts and people shouldn't bully them. But we can't deny that this industry isn't normal at all.

    Now time for my confession.
I have to admit that I don't like the most of gg like I do with bg because the most of gg have the "cute" concept and seeing them doing aegyo the most of the time and I find it cringy. I mean, bg does too but sometimes, not all time and i feel bad for the girls because i know the most of them are forced to. I don't like that people see that girls are just cute and babydolls, like, WE'RE MORE THAN THAT, and i think they should be allowed to show who they really are. I mean, that they could show the girls with actitud and fearless that they are because that makes them unique and it's sad that real beauty has to be hidden.

reasons why i dont like foreigners in kpop:
    - kpop is asian, and i think that we should let asia have something of their own instead of white people budding into other cultures. whenever i see people talking abt wanting to become a kpop idol its always people asking if its ok since their white. i understand if your half asian, but i think that its not okay for foreigners to debut.
    - members will outshine other members
    - lots of people might be racist and that could cause a lot of hate
    - companies will use them for popularity

kpop as “genre” uses many western inspired things (e.g. hip hop) so why can’t non asians partake in something that uses things from their own culture(s)

Not everyone knows a lot about history specially someone who was having a full time job at 13, she entered twice and on her teenage years she attended a survival show and released 6 mini albums, 1 full album, 2 singles, learned 9 dance + variety shows and dance practices + concerts.

@@redloona1085 ok good point but isnt jyp known for giving their idols the most random classes in literally EVERYTHING. you'd think he'd give them a class in inappropriate symbols and sayings so they don't get them mixed up like she did here. i dunno but kpop idols are not dumb. I'm pretty sure they read the news and keep up with things happening around the world. if she was 16 and made that mistake, it still would not have been acceptable. we don't have to make excuses for her when she knew to some degree that her actions always have consequences whether good or bad. I honestly don't have anything against her i just don't like how she could just wear anything say anything and her apology could still be so carless. what is a two sentence apology for years of hurting and suffering caused by that symbol. honestly no excuses for her at all.
