    In today's video, I'll be detailing a friend's 1986 Volvo 240 DL. It was parked in a barn years back due to electrical issues, but he's been wanting to get back into it to hopefully fix it up. I wanted to see just how well it would clean up so I offered to help! These are iconic cars that were extremely well made. I ended up going above and beyond to try and bring it back to it's former glory as best as I could. Thanks for watching!

    I'm a Muscle car guy and flip cars for a living, last summer while at an Estate Auction I bought 4 cars in a package deal, it was basically buy them all or you couldn't buy, One car I sold to a guy who was there just for that car by itself but didn;t want them all, the 3 I took wasa 54 Chevy Fleetline, a 63 Ford Falcon 4 door and a 83 Volvo DL Wagon. I wasn't really excited about it but it was what it was. When I got back to shop my Shop Porter was excited about it, after talking to him I found out when his family moved here to the Tucson area from Arkansas in the early 2000's they did so in 84 Volvo DL Wagon, it was a different color, theirs was dark brown with tan interior and this one was green with black interior, other than new fluids, a Battery, Alternator and some paint on the hood and top of the fenders, it didn't need much other than a good clean up and some stitch repair to the drivers seat where the lower seat was coming apart, so we put a new Battery, a new Alternator and just threw a flat black paint job on the hood and top of the fenders and had him do the rest of the clean up, including teaching him how to cut and buff cutting the paint and then gave it to him as a "job well done" bonus, since then all he's done to it is sand blast and paint the wheels and put some cheap Baby Moons on it. I wasn't going to be able to sell it for much more than I had in it so why not just give it to someone who would love it like a car should be. That car turned out alot better than I though it would.

    Nice one, well done! A car can be old and worn, but having it cleaned like this does so much to the overall appeal. The 240 series is a great car in many aspects, and having a clean one is even greater.

    These Volvos have a following among its fans. Reliable and economical transportation for many; a sleeper platform for those that want to make it go fast.
    Here's a tip that I've seen around regarding interior sanitation: get some dry ice and let sublime in a bucket with some water. The CO² in a closed environment will kill any mold and bacteria deep in the fabrics. And it helps in leaving the interior smelling fresh, especially after using the cleaning products.

    A lot of times on those the fuel pump fuse underneath the hood goes bad. It's on the driver's side right above the front wheel well. This was a design flaw on these cars and a lot of times what happens is this fuse gets compromised overtime by rainwater and subsequently self-destructs. Most guys just replace them with waterproof fuses and that will prevent this issue from ever happening again. In your case, I don't doubt that the pump itself is bad but I would also encourage you to check out this fuse underneath the hood as well because I see a lot of problems with that.

    I don't want to sound like a jerk but next time you power wash a car, please don't cut and change screens that often. Keep it slow, take your time - that's the whole point of enjoying these videos. Here you start off with, say, back doors - after 3 seconds, boom, you're doing the roof. Next screen, the whole side of the car is already washed. I don't get it. Also, the sun didn't help. Take care

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  4 месяца назад +3

      Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback. There's nothing I can do about the sun, it's a chilly time of the year and I don't have a place indoors where I can wash vehicles so it kinda is what it is. I try and avoid shadows the best I can. As far as the pressure wash clips, I'll keep that in mind. My thought was showing progress from different angles. If I took my time with the clips, like I think you're meaning, the video could be well over an hour and I don't think people would watch it. Attention spans are not what they used to so I'm trying to find a good balance. Thanks again!
