That will give the sail lots of wrinkles, better fold once at the tip and roll the whole sail parallel to the tube, not as tight. A mylar sail from 2010 rolled this way and flown frequently... probably isn't airworthy nowadays anymore due to wrinkles and delaminations at the folds!
I used to pack my Seedwing the same way, but for the tip protection would use heavy wool long socks or Sport socks; same for the king post. Protects against rack rash.
Good video, I just got a new Dacron Freedom 190, I will try this and see how I like it. I think I might get myself a "blue nose cord" and a tent stake to balance the wing too. let us all know if you have any more epiphanies, Cheers.
Thank you for a great video! I just have one question. Not to attack your method, just interested in your thoughts about this: I had a similar Single Surface glider to the Freedom. I folded the gliders tip and sail as you did until I was told by several instructors various times, not to fold the sail that tight. If the sail is rolled loose, it will have longer lifespan due the ssail will not "bend" on the same place and will not get "wrinkled". What do you think? Safe landings!
@mavigogun It is a very clever balancing act. It took extraordinary skill! NOT! The nose is being held down to an anchor point with a thin blue cord. Not an intentional illusion but now that you mention it, it is Magic.
Hey there Chuckpal. Thanks for your sage advice. Your method is the best I've seen. I've posted a little variation that I do. It gets around the tip levers sticking out and stopping a tight tip roll. See my channel - Freedom 170 sail roll - tip lever suggestion
Good method. Thanks for sharing it. I was having trouble getting a neat roll on my 170 Full Race and this helped tremendously.

Thanks for your comment. Although I'm not quite sure where zip ties would go? Please clue me in. Thanks again. Chuck

@Glidedon You are welcome. Good luck and let me know if it works for you.
