    Bees do recycle wax.
It takes 8kg of honey to make 1kg of wax for bees. So you can calculate how many bees it take to make 1kg of wax. But a bee doesnt make wax alone.

I bought some wax and lip balm off of your shop, it looks like fantastic stuff and a lot less expensive than I thought it would be. Even with the shipping cost, it was far less than going to one of the fancy shops around here and getting something mass produced. I look forward to giving a try, it looks like quality stuff.

Excellent demonstration for large wax melting run. I only Keep 5 hives out back and it's hot as hell here in S.Louisiana so I use a solar wax melting box for my small runs of mostly cappings with the last stage being a paper towel and the wax comes out super clean. I use it to make lip balms.

wondering if one of those hot air food dehydrators, with heat settings, could be used to filter wax... lay a filter over the tray of the dehydrator and set up a catch bin... the wax wouldn't burn as the heat could be set and it wouldn't have to be watched, leaving a person free to do other things... I bet it could be done with something like my Nesco dehydrator... the trays are plastic so could be modified if needed... I'm gonna put some more thought into this idea...

Wax contains about 4 times the calories of honey of the same weight, but as lipids(fats) rather than sugars. So I assume a bee has to consume an amount of honey that weighs a fair bit more than 4 times that of the wax it produces. 1g honey = less than a quarter of a gram of wax. It's hard to find exact details on the subject though. I don't know how much wax they produce in a lifetime though.

i immediately thought of counting how much Honey you get from a hive, and how much wax you get.. whatever the difference is.
but that is interesting to include the actual "resources" the Bee needs to make each

An American tablespoon of Bee's wax weighs 14.21 grams, so 70.37 American tablespoon weighs a Kilo. I previously didn't know there was such thing as an American tablespoon.
A metric tablespoon of Bee's wax weighs 14.42 grams, so 69.37 metric tablespoon weighs a Kilo.

But just to mix it up a little, perhaps a different bit of music during montages? And perhaps then I wouldn't just FF through them.
Oh, hey! Better idea! What would keep me from not FF'ing -> during the montages, how about some informational texts that pops up that describes what is happening. Like from 10:30 when the wax crystallises. How, and why? How long does it take?

@@privatebubba8876 I understand this, but the sugars are still in that water. Also, the water needs only be half boiling temperature to melt the wax. There's just as many methods as there are keepers, I reckon. I like solar melters. It saves time, resources and energy. They can be made large scale. All you have to do is load at one end, and collect at the other.

    I cheated...
The number of bees required to produce 1 kg of beeswax varies depending on the species of bees and other factors, such as the quality of the nectar and pollen available to the bees. However, on average, it is estimated that it takes about 8,000 to 10,000 bees to produce 1 kg of beeswax.

I've heard conflicting takes on this ratio. Some say it's biased due to the fact that they sell uncapping/spinning equipment or it drives the price of wax up due to peoples less willingness to harvest wax. In other words, some people are skeptical of this claim due to biases and special interests in the industry.

Uncle Reggie that could very well be true.

    • @gazinta
      @gazinta 5 лет назад +1

@@crazyate9830 I'm new to this, please understand. I'm trying to learn as much as I can by using Tube videos as a precursor to being certified. It started out a cause to help out the smallest creatures that do the most work. Where I live, the regulations alone are enough to make the average enthusiast turn away. To even sell one jar, I would need a 30,000 dollar investment without a yield for at very least a year. To show a profit on my investment, it could take up to 5 years with health inspectors and the labor department trying to shut me down every chance they could. Safe food handling courses, workshops, and even construction of out buildings (honey huts) with 3 bathrooms and seperate water/septic are manditory. Sterilization equipment, labels(FDA approved) and CDC snap inspections also prevalent. Colony placement cannot be near bus stops, public parks or schools.
They're actually putting up roadblocks to prevent local beekeepers from competing with commercial operations. The fines are heavy, and the company less than 20 miles from here basically owns the fresh market stands. A guy like me has to either move to pursue an endeavor like this, or go to work for the honey factory at minimum wage.
Did I mention that I live surrounded by Democrats? Lol

@30lbThreadie well? Some of these are the well-seasoned, hardcore types. They'll come by in the middle of the night and take your gear or vandalize it. Protein starved vegans think honeybees are exploited, so they will 'liberate' them. By liberate, I mean suit up, knock them over and pour diesel fuel on them. They're supposed to be the environmentalist types, too.
