Salam Akhi how many years did it take you to memorise. I was literally the weakest in memorising the Qur'an in the whole of the madrasah of around 300 students. It took me 2.5 years to memorise 10 aqjaaz and I stil struggled to retain it. I've decided to embark on hifz again and hope and pray I can complete it before I die
Okey guy. I am an Arabic Muslim, 18 years. I only wanted to tell you that so many arabic muslims don't interested in memorizing the Holy Qur'an at all. However, we, Arabs, it is easier to us to memorize it than you, Non arabic Muslims. Many of us neglect his book. [نسوا الله فأنساهم أنفسهم]. Thank Allah for letting you memorize his book, and remember that The heavier the work it was on yourself. The heavier it was on your scale. When I see videos like this I realize that we don't deserve anything. That don't mean that I am perfect. Today I will sleep without memorizing my part which I must memorize. Okey Be with Islam and don't forget your brothers and sisters in Gaza and in every place in earth
It’s like Allah heard me and knows that I want to become a Hafiza very badly so I keep getting videos like this! I have to be patient with my myself and stay consistent. I start and end my day with Quran so I’m pretty happy throughout the whole day Alhamdulillah! My dad wanted me to become a hafiza but he thinks it’s impossible as I’m already 14 and I have a lot of study pressure. But I want to at least try.
@WhimsyTiff dont worry i also started when i was 14 and i've memorised alot in just over a year alhamdulilah.dont give up inshallah one day you will achieve it :)
Memorizing Quran is not a matter of age. There are Hafizes and Hafizas who started and finished in old ages beyond the 40s and 50s. So, just make Dua and trust in Allah.

"Let’s add one more parrot! 🦜 Only those who understand the meanings of the Quran can truly want to memorize it. If someone doesn’t know its translation, they may not have the same desire. In the same way, understanding the Quran’s meaning deepens the motivation to engage with it fully."

May Allah reward you ustadh alhamdulilah I have started to study the Madinah books through your old online classes and have been finding it very easy to follow alhamdulilah
40 times is a guide. Some people might have to recite it 100 times to keep it strong. Also make sure you come back quickly again to revise the portion even after you have competed the reading 40 times.
This was a beautiful video, jazakallahu khairan. It really resonated with me and reinforced the path I was thinking of taking because I noticed that now that I've gotten a decent number of surahs memorized and I'm starting to move into the longer ones, it is more difficult to retain them. I was feeling pressure to move quickly because that seems to be the general attitude around hifz but my heart was not in that approach at all. Alhamdulillah this video helped me recalibrate to a better path.
Memorizing isn't the problem, the problem is not forgetting what you've memorized. Although it is easy to revise when you're in the 1- 3 juzz but once you're in 5-10 juz it is hard to revise.
Note for self: 1:06 Quality Vs Quantity - Be thorough and don't worry about time 2:46 Repetition - 40 Reps per page from memory, so revision becomes a breeze 3:40 Contemplation - 'Tadabbur'; Take time - Ibn Umar learned Al Baqarah in 10+-2 years 5:30 Retention - Be attentive to studied Quran, always, by revising. Apply it in Salah.
Memorising was required when there was no mode of storage, Now it is stored all over the world in hard copies as well as the soft ones, One should memorize only the few surahs which are required in the daily prayers / salah, It is million times better to spend the time and energy in either directly learning Arabic language or alternatively to learn and understand the Qur'an in the language that one understands (Translation) rather than becoming a Hafiz (like a Parrot) without knowing / understanding the message/ Guidance. The essence of the Quran is to understand the Message of the Qur'an !!
No.. I thought this too.. untill one day I tried to memorized.. and through memorizing we are actually doing tadabbur, because we keep on repeating it.. and believe me you'll get more understanding from that repetition, you'll see things you haven't pay attention before when you read it just casually.. There are lots of questions in Quran, a homework for us to ponder, and this can be achieved better by memorizing it. Only by memorizing them, you can connect the dots, there are lots of clues in the details.. trust me ❤ inshaAllah it will become a more beautiful Quran after you tried it.
The prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him was commanded to listen to the recital first. So listen to the recitation and do this before trying to remember it

Thank you very much. Before i used to repeat the Ayat for more than 15 times and with revision i was doing well and then i’ve mistaken and decreased the repetition to 10 times that is one of the reasons that i’m struggling with revising hifz even though the portion o memoize is little. So i should increase the amount of repetition when memorising and if it was hard i decrease the amount of portion.
As I thought about doing Hifdh this video came up. Sheikh would your advice to older people be the same? Or will there be any changes? I’m 46 and I want to start now. InshaAllah 😊
4:57 I just realized here that it’s okay to take a lot of time to memorize the Quran. In my society, it’s kind of a shame if you don’t memorize within 2 or 3 years. And apparently you have to start at the age of 10 😂
I made a mistake in the name of the narrator of the hadith at 4:58. It is Abu Abdurrahman Al-Sulami and not Al-Sullami.
