This interview with Peter Jackson is gold. All the other ones he does are superficial and we learn nothing new. What a find this is, and only 800 odd views?!

It was a excellent movie.. shows the heart ach that Paul was going through knowing that his marriage with John and the Beatles was over...

I love your podcasts, Robert. You always ask the best questions. It's easy to tell how much Peter Jackson enjoyed this interview.

Do you think we will ever get a "making of" Get Back.
I'd love to see how they transformed the old film and audio etc..

46:52 can someone tell me what the Apple footage from '68 is about?
Great chit chat BTW. Man, Jackson is a bundle of energy, eh?

After watching just the first 6 minutes of this video - I strongly agree with Peter Jackson... that the original "Let It Be" film was only seen as some sort of doom & gloom movie - because of the circumstances that surrounded its release (the announcement that the Beatles were breaking up). I have been a Beatles fan since I first saw and heard them in 1964. I went to see the "Let It be" film when it was first released... and I LOVED it. We got to see the group in the process of creating new songs - AND we got to see them doing their final live performance. What could be better than that?! I loved the original film so much... that when VCRs first became available for the general public to buy - and when the "Let It Be" movie became available to purchase on VHS... it was the very first VHS tape I bought. I have watched it probably 50 times and I still have my VHS copy today.
There are actually some things that were included in the original "Lat It Be" film (that Peter Jackson left out) which make the original a better version in some instances:
    1. For reasons that I just CANNOT imagine - PJ chose to include only portions of the Beatles' live performances of "Let It Be", "Two Of Us", "The Long and Winding Road" and "For You Blue"... rather then the full performances. The original film had the complete live performances of those four songs. Why on earth Peter Jackson did not put the full performances of those four songs in his 470 minute series (while they were included in the original 88 minute film) is the very first thing I would ask him. How, Peter!?!? How could you do that??!!
    2. I think the longer version of "Dig It" that is in the original is better than what PJ chose to show us.
    3. I love the version of "Besame Mucho" that is included the original (but not in PJ's series). It is so much fun. It should have been in PJ's.
    4. There is also a very fun version of "Long & Winding Road" in the original - that is not in PJ's.
There may be more - but those are the ones that come to my mind at this moment.
There are two other things that I found very disappointing in Peter Jackson's "Get Back" series:
    1. I am not happy with Jackson's editing job of the rooftop performance. If I could edit all the different camera shots that are available of the live rooftop performance - I would have done it differently than Jackson. He should have focused in on Harrison when he was playing a guitar solo (we should have gotten to see him play it); focused in on John when he was playing a guitar solo and focused in on Billy Preston when he was playing a solo, etc. And he should have chosen a two shot of John & Paul when they were both singing together. THAT is what we all want to see. It could have been edited so much better. If it were up to me - I would include (as an bonus extra when this becomes available on DVD/BluRay) a version of the full rooftop show from start to finish that stays on the group the ENTIRE time they are performing the songs - and focuses on the people singing and the people playing key parts of the songs. THAT is what I most want to see.
    2. He should have showed the group (J, P, G, & R) working in earnest on George Harrison's songs in the early stages of the project (in the first part of the series). He chose to just leave that out. The four of them worked hard on three of Harrison's songs in that early period (before he walked out). This is important - because a lot of people go on and on about how John & Paul never took George's songs seriously - or they say they never gave any time to his songs. But the truth is... that they actually did take his songs seriously - and they did put time into them.
George's "All Things Must Pass" was given 59 takes during this early period (at Twikenham)... which was more than any other song except "Don't Let Me Down" which had 67 takes. George's "I Me Mine" had 41 takes during this early period - and his "For You Blue" had 20. It's a shame that Peter Jackson didn't show that.
All in all... I love that we got 470 minutes of film - and we got to see a lot of excellent stuff that was not in the original film. But I was very disappointed in some of the editing decisions.
