Ive done this many times on legendary, that is definitely untrue. Unless the fact that i do it with a mongoose stops that from happening. But im pretty sure those bridges were put there for this exact purpose.
@@jonahpatton8879 It happened for me otherwise I wouldn't be saying it. From that same crane lift with the sniper. I had the scarab aggro. I only play legendary so can't confirm on other difficulties. I also played the shit outta that campaign. Atleast 500 of my 2k hours on MCC are in halo 3 campaign.
@@Viciouss72 never played on MCC so maybe that's a newer feature, but I've been playing H3 since it came out when I was in middle school 15 years ago. I've easily beaten the campaign 100 times, I even beat it just a few weeks ago again on legendary with my wife, and I've never seen a scarab "hop out the way", and this is the way I've been taking this one down since at least high school. Are you sure it wasn't just turning? I mean there is a pretty decent up and down movement on the scarab's deck when it turns, but I've never seen it hop.
You can damage its legs (once one of the legs is damaged it will enter its incapacitated mode), you can also blast off the back part of it that's in front of the shield protecting the core.

thought u was gonna use the sniper to hit the smalle openining
If you get on the OTHER elevator the scarab walks right under it and you get an even better vantage point to jump
i always taka a ghost and jump from that platform onto the scarab
