Great video - thank you! My Katsura tree is one year, about 5 foot tall. I am hoping to see significant growth this year and experience the color and smell.

You will need a male and female plant in order to get viable seeds. Unfortunately there is no easy way to see what sex the plants are before they flower

I got a Kasturi because of the colors and smell but was disappointed in that my tree turns brown in fall without colors and I don't get any smell. Are there cultivars that don't have color and smell? or Is something wrong with my tree? its about 6 years now and very disappointed.

      Hello Steve,
I'm sorry to hear your Katsura is not performing. All cultivars produce colour and smell when planted in the right conditions. It sounds like your tree could be a bit unhappy where it's planted. Best fall colour is achieved when Cercidiphyllum are planted in moist acidic soil in full sun and experience a combination of long sunny days and large diurnal range in temperature (cool nights and warm days) in autumn. If conditions are too dry, leaves can brown and shrivel without colouring and releasing scent.
      Hope this helps!

I wasn't expecting this tree to prefer acidic soil. Wonder if coffee grounds might help the tree to offer more color and smell?
