Nebraska's libero defend - impressive!
Ashley Barnes was really good as well
Yes but this game the other libero owned everyone defensively....even nevraska’s ds was outperforming their libero
@@torrinbianchi5283 who?
@@torrinbianchi5283 Barnes was on 🔥
@@torrinbianchi5283 do you mean lauren barnes?
You are right on Lexi though. She’s going to one of the best liberos in womens college history. She’s got an eye like no one I’ve ever seen before. She has a pro career if she wants one. I’m just happy she’s on our team!
Frustrating last set for Nebraska but they will be back next year since they’re so young. They didn’t really have a go-to hitter and their outsides weren’t as effective. Surprised to see the setter not give their right side more chances
So Caffey wasn't a go to hitter ?? She should have been set more
What a match it was!! Always nice to see different teams appearing here!
Also love seeing the production quality has improved massively 😂
this hurts to watch as a nebraska fan 😓 i can’t keep being reminded of this match 😩
I was there and it was loud. Congratulations to Wisconsin. great games
the way the setter keeps setting outside… to where erik’s commentary face is and I can’t see what’s happening 😂
Happy New Year🍾🍻 What a championship match. amazing comeback of Nebraska but the hitters of Wisconsin are great. more power in 2022 Erik
All the best to you, Eric, and all supporters of this channel in 2022! Especially health-wise. To Zaksa - I hope you will defend the Championship title and have Eric for the next seaon ;)
Yay!!! I’ve been waiting for this!!
Love the shoutouts to players in the game!
i enjoy when eric react to college volleyball than pro because the game is less perfect so he can point out mistakes and give useful insight and tips , in pro he is just like that player is amazing and his serve is crazy haha
happy new year! i love watching your videos!
hey Erik! Love your channel and its content btw, may I kindly suggest the recent padova v modena game? Featuring some big names like Leal, Bruno and Takahashi! It also happens to be Takahashi's debut game in Italy!
(initially I made this comment on another vid but that one wasn't volleyball focused so I figured I'd just move it here ahah)
Love your reaction video! One suggestion, if you could move yourself to the bottom corners, that will give us a better view of the right side plays.
Wish Nebraska won, but it was a good game. Happy New Years Erik and everyone.
Agreed! I thought Hames (Neb setter) could’ve have set at least the first bump set … Also watch the second set, especially the end of it
Love this video!
happy new year Mr. Shoji. Don't be so hard on Mexico in the World Cup hahaha. Give it your all and good luck
What a match.
happy new year!Wish everything successful in the future! Hope you can react to the women semi between USA and Serbia in olympics. That match shows the importance of serving and passing( USA women did a fantastic job in this olympics), working as a whole team instead of relying on a single person, and maybe that could help your national team a little bit.
Love it.
Would be interested in your thoughts on the Louisville/Wisconsin semis this year!
That was the unofficial championship match. I’m a Wisco alum but Louisville didn’t loose, badgers just won.
Happy New year 2022.
Hey Eric! Love the videos! Two questions:
1. Can you put yourself in the bottom left or right corner please? We miss some of the action because your beautiful face is covering the right side of the net.
2. Why are there so many more long rallies in women's volleyball? I'm not having a go at women's game it's super entertaining to watch, but I see a clear difference where there are more long rallies in the women's game contrasted with how often men score on the first ball. Is it just a difference in athletic ability even though the net is higher? Are women better readers/defenders because they seem to et under so many more balls? Again I'm not trying to be sexist or shit on anyone but is the huge difference in play styles just height and athleticism?
Keep up the amazing work as usual. Happy new year!!
For the reason that there is a clear physical difference between the two that affects every aspect of the game. The west is so politically correct nowadays that pointing out real, obvious and logical differences between men and women is seen as sexist. There's nothing sexist about your observation.
@Natacha Tang I enjoyed reading that. Thanks!
@@mirieshii1948 Haha. Qualifying it removes the off chance it turns into a silly gender debate.
@@fangman21 i feel like most people in the comments are super careful and has to put a disclaimer on everything because of the snowflakes and sjws. Hahaha
Loved it.
I’m pretty sure number 22 for NEB played on the junior national team
U really watched the worst set of the game😭😭 would love for you to react to more of this
Will you take a look at the semi final match between USC and the Florida Gators?
You watched the same point twice, around the 11 minute mark. Had me thinking I was in the twilight zone. But great analysis
Where do you watch these vids (flat / service line side angle)? I can only find the official coverage with commentators in youtube
These kind of technical videos are only available to coaches and players. They have like a log in pass.
thankfully the last challenge didn’t change the match too much cause the ref got it wrong. there were additional angles after the match that showed absolutely definitively that there was no touch. great match all around tho such fun volleyball
i did receive those awards as well😁😉😉😊
Hey Erik I have a question is it really harder to receive left handed spikes?
Somewhat. They have a different kind of spin to a right handed spike so it’s a little unfamiliar.
I find the advantage of left handed spikes is when it comes to blockers. Just because the majority of players are right handed, the block is more used to people swinging with their right and may subconsciously line up a bit better for blocking a right handed swing. Then more left handed swings will get through the block so the hitters will generally have a better kill rate at lower level volleyball. Being a left handed hitter has more advantages as a middle and opposite though because an outside hitters right hand gets to the ball first so they can contact earlier which can give the second blocker less time to arrive and cut off all the angle.
I’m playing libero this year in club and I’ve always played middle back on defense. I noticed that you play middle back for USA. Why is that? And any tips for the two diffrent positions?
I think it's whatever rotation you happen to be in! Unless you were outside and now you are libero?
@@elainalambrinosstudentmhs107 yes I used to play oitside
Do you remember Reid Kiyabu from your Punahou days? We’ve been dating for 8 years and we love watching you play. :)
of course I remember Reid! we played tennis together for a long time! So awesome thanks for reaching out and for watching/supporting! Hi Reid!
Where do you get this end court view of the match ??? unable to find it... and would like to show my HighSchool team... Way easier to show good defensive positioning from the end court view vs the side view
Apparently, all players and coaches get this kind of technical videos for analysis. They have a log in to it. Or something like that.
@@mirieshii1948 yea
Itʻs a website that we use to watch film. We all have a login where you can find most volleyball matches.
@@kermitthefrog4505 is that available for ordinary people like me?
@@mirieshii1948
No you have to have a login sorry😕
I think twin towers big ADVANTAGE
You picked the worst set to watch in this match😭😭😭
hahaha its ok i like to watch 5th sets!
Me encantas 💖 😍 soy tu fan ♥ amo el voleibol 🏐 💕 ahora estoy jugando en un equipo mixto pero he visto todos los partidos de tu selección 😁🙈
You watched the worst set, Wisconsin’s libero is so good. Her name is Lauren Barnes.
Also Wisconsin does the same thing with a two person serve receive in majority of their rotations. Their libero and a ds with no Acl 😭.
Barnes played so well. I like to watch 5th sets for the majority of my videos so i just stuck with it! So impressed with the liberos and congrats to Wisconsin!
@@ErikShojivolleyball It was not at all indicative of the other 4 games!
Nebraska could’ve won if they would’ve just taken Maddie out of the game. Set 5 was a joke 😭
They also had four set points in set 2. It's a different match if they go up 2-0.
@@lukasky03 I’ve never been a fan on Maddie being a 6 rotation player. Her defense skills are so bad. Looking at the stats from the last few games of the tournament, I don’t think she ever hit over .150 and she had so many bad digs that made the set predictable
W
so basically Nebraska team was like Nekoma huh.
can you quite down the intro sound when your name pops up because its way too loud, and this is a constructive criticism not trying to be rude. Keep up the videos and I love your educational tips.
Just love the video and the tips given, If you don’t like the beginning SKIP IT.
First lees go
I would really like it if you pulled up the roster for these two teams before recording so you could use their actual names. Just saying.
Get over it.
@@GrippingAndRipping wtf is this comment you sorry little fanboy dipshit
Erik doesn't really put a lot of effort into his media content, people can criticize or ask him to do things differently whenever they want, get over it you little sht :)
@@yashA.456 Why does it matter if he knows their names or not? It doesnʻt add anything to the video.
A young Nebraska team took a veteran and experienced heavy Wisconsin team to 5 sets in the championship game. Wisconsin only won because of their huge ass block lol. Nebraska will be back and better than ever, minus Lauren Stivrins sadly.
Maybe if Nebraska could figure how to set the record for most times blocked in a national championship they coulda won
Strivins-senior Caffey-senior Hames-senior Kubik-junior Knucles-junior
They have experience
@@blickblick7723 Lindsey Krause, Ally Battenhorst & Lexi Rodriquez are ALL freshman starting!!
@@MyLorissa Julia Orzol is a freshman. Anna Smrek is a freshman. Devyn Robinson and Jade Demps are sophomores.
Umm.. the libero served, I’ve never seen that i thought they weren’t allowed to
In women’s volleyball, liberos can serve but in men’s volleyball, they can’t!
They have some special rules in college volleyball. Liberos can serve and the coach can also make more player substitutions.
@@sabrinakalanz8309 in NCAA (USA), liberos can serve. They'te probably the only ones that do this.
@@mirieshii1948 Also high school and club in USA.
Dana Rettke is not the best middle blocker in the nation.
Sounds like a hater to me
@@riristrain4318 yep! You got me!
@@riristrain4318 sameee
Like you could do better💀😹
@@lillianibe1 never said I could, hope you feel better about yourself now that’s out :)
Lol at these theys... can they ever hit a ball down ?
Women's is just way less explosive, very different game
@@yessum44 and this is college VB. There are surely harder hits and explosive games in pro. Like EU Vb
@@mirieshii1948 Yes and no. Certainly more explosive than this, but women's still has many more rallies than men's. There's a reason that things like power tips and roll shots are more common in women's. Ripping the ball 100% of the time just isn't good strategy in women's volleyball.
